    SECOND STAGE

"They say that after you kill a man. You gain
the feeling of ultimate and infinite power.
You are never again the same. You have
now taken a life. But, would you feel
if you were to kill yourself?"
    --Kyle Warner--

    CHAPTER 7

Wu's plane was beginning its decent. He held his briefcase tightly by his side. He had the plan all thought out in his mind. He would find Biosyn's guide that would lead him to the Compound. Then he would give the documents to Dodgson, receive his pay, and request that he leave as soon as possible.
Yes, it worked out in his mind, but what if while he was at the compound there was another breakout? He could be killed.
Best not to worry himself with such things, he told himself. Only worry about the present, or don't worry at all. He smiled. A life without worries, that was the funniest thing he had ever heard of!

Alan Grant boarded his plane, along with his new acquaintance, Wes Brunell. The two of them sat down in their seats next to each other, and once the plane took off, they began to speak about their plan.
It was simple on paper and in the mind, but in reality, it would definitely turn out to be crazy. Grant smiled, as he was beginning to get accustomed to doing crazy things.
Brunell began,"Okay, so here's the plan. We meet up with the rest of the team. Then, we enter the jungle, on foot, and search for the compound."
"How will we know where to look?" Grant asked.
"We follow the clues. The carcass was found just outside of La Pieda. So we'll start there. Then if and when we find the compound, all we gotta do is find enough evidence to prove that it isn't InGen. Then, after we get the evidence, we high tail it outta there as quick as possible."
Grant shook his head and looked out the window.
    "What is it?" Brunell asked.
Still looking out the window, Grant replied, "I don't know why I'm doing this. I must be insane."
Brunell smiled, then patted his hand on Grant's shoulder, "You and me both."

Wu stepped off the plane and into the hot atmosphere of Costa Rica. He slowly took it all in. He had never been here before, and if all went well, he would never be coming back.
Wu walked a short distance, until he saw two big gruff men standing beside a Jeep. They were holding a sign that read 'Woo'.
Henry approached the men and said, "I'm Doctor Wu."
One of the men, with a big beard, said, "Good, you follow us."
Wu got into the Jeep and set his breifcase on the floor, as the vehicle roared away towards the jungle.
The whole time they drove, none of them spoke. These men frightened him. And starting a conversation was not what he had in mind.
After about twenty minutes, they came to a small town. Here they got out of the Jeep, and walked on foot into the jungle. Wu hoped that all of the creatures that broke out had been rangled back to the compound. Otherwise, this would likely be a short hike.

    CHAPTER 8

Grant and Brunell stepped off the plane and into the sun of Costa Rica. It was hot here, but Grant was used to heat, having spent most of his grown up life in the desert. But the humidity was what threw him off. Dang, it was humid!
He and Brunell walked down the street to where they had agreed to meet the rest of the team. It was a small restaurant, where he and Brunell would eat while they waited.
Grant ordered a sandwich, a water, and a bag of chips. Brunell ordered two burgers, a side of fries, a Coke, and a cookie for dessert.
Grant shook his head in disbelief. How could a man eat that much, and still remain in such great shape?
The two men sat down at a table near a window, that way when the rest of the team arrived, they could see them coming. Grant took off his hat and set it on an empty chair beside him, then put on a pair of sunglasses.
He took a big bite out of his sandwich, and tried his best not to look at Brunell, who was eating like a pig. As he put down his sandwich he heard a vehicle with bad brakes squeal to a stop, not far from the restaraunt.
Grant looked out the window, and saw three men getting out of a beat up old Ford Explorer. One of the men was very tall, and dressed in green camo. The second man was dark skinned, and short, but very muscular. He also wore green camo, but had a black bandana around his bald head. The third man was tall and skinny, wearing black pants, a black shirt, and a black leather jacket. As he came closer to the restaraunt, he removed his black sunglasses.
Grant couldn't believe it. No wonder Hammond had said that he'd recognize the others of the team, but hadn't wanted to give him any names. The three approached the restaurant and opened the door. The two muscular men entered followed by Doctor Ian Malcolm.

    CHAPTER 9

The two camouflaged men sat down beside Grant and Brunell. Ian Malcolm simply stood over the table smiling.
Grant smiled back. He couldn't say he really liked Malcolm, but he thought the whole situation was kind of funny.
Brunell said, "Dr. Grant I would like you to meet Mr. Arnold Smith." Brunell motioned to the man sitting beside him. Smith was very tall, and had rather thin blonde hair. Grant reached across the table and shook Smith's hand.
Brunell continued,"And this is Mr. Orlando Harris." Grant shook hands with the muscular black man beside him.
"And I believe you have already met Dr. Malcolm," Brunell said with a smile.
"But of course I have." Grant said as he stood up from his chair.
The two scientists shook hands and shared smiles. Secretly, Grant thought that this mission had just gotten a whole lot more lucrative.

Wu stood at the bottom of a big treacherous hill. The guides told him that it wouldn't be long, and that the Compound was just over the hill. But, they had been saying that for the last hour.
Throughout the walk, Wu had heard strange animal noises in the jungle around him. He had inquired whether or not it was one of the dinosaurs, but the guides had always shushed him, saying that there was no need to fret and that they had guns. That's when they showed him their two pistols.
Wu almost screamed, two pistols would not save them from the creatures that had attacked the town on TV, this was suicide!
Now, they were making their way up the steep hill. On the way up, Wu slipped, and would have fallen down the hill, if it were not for one of the guides grabbing him.
When they finally reached the top, they were greeted by two men with assault rifles. The guides and the guards exchanged a few words, then they were on their way again. As they walked by the guards, Wu could make out the small Biosyn symbol patched to their shoulder.
From the top of the hill, Wu was able to look around at the surrounding landscape. It was all jungle. He scanned the area, looking for the Compound, it was nowhere to be seen.
One of the guides saw that Wu wasn't still walking, and told him to continue. It was obvious to Wu, they didn't want anybody to know where the Compound was, not even him.

    CHAPTER 10

Leah Owens sat in a rusty old restaurant, eating only what she dared, a sealed bag of chips. She figured that since they were in a bag, they would be okay. However, her camera man, Aaron Madison did not share her concern.
She wrinkled her lip in disgust as he tore into one of the most putrid looking burgers she had ever seen. Quickly, she turned away to look back at the Americans sitting by the windows.
They were an odd looking bunch. Two were dressed in camouflage, one in safari like clothing, one man that must be crazy, was wearing all black, and one of them was wearing a leather hat that reminded her of Indiana Jones.
The one with the hat looked familiar. But, she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Who was he? He sure was handsome. What was he doing here? Who was he here with? She decided to ask Madison, "Hey, Aaron, do you know who that guy in the cowboy hat is? He looks familiar"
Madison swallowed a big bite of his burger, and said, "Sure, it's Alan Grant."
"Who is he?" She asked. She was really surprised that Madison had recognized him at all.
"You don't remember him? We only followed his every move for nearly half a year."
Leah sighed, "I follow lots of people around, it's my job. So tell, me who is this guy?"
Aaron took another big bite out of his burger and said with a mouth full of food, "He's the paleontologist that survived Jurassic Park, the guy all in black did too."
Leah had been looking at the men and now she looked back at Madison, he was grinning. "You were'nt going to say anything were you?"
Madison laughed, "I was, I just wanted to see your face."
Leah Owens made an angry face, but inside she was happy. Two of the guys that survived Jurassic Park were here. Where dinosaurs had supposedly just attacked. Leah smiled, this story might be worth it after all.

Grant and his companions got up from their table and left the restaurant. Owens and Madison followed them at a distance.
They saw the five men get into an old Ford Explorer, and leave the parking lot.
Quickly, her and Madison got into their van, and gave chase.
Quietly they would follow the men to where they were going. It was highly unlikely that they were just here on vacation. The men would lead them to where more dinosaurs were, then they would get more footage. And she would get a well deserved promotion.
Leah smiled again as Madison rounded the corner and followed the Explorer down a dirt road, into the forbidden looking jungle.
