    CHAPTER 2: The Math Tutor.

    A new fallen snow covered the grassy areas of the front yard of the apartment. School was announced out a couple of hours ago leaving Billy with…you guessed it…nothing better to do than to go play out in the snow. He wasn’t much of a snow person, because in Tennessee they never get snow much so he didn’t care for it as he should be. But considering it was the first snow of the year he was willing to exercise his fun mind to fun stuff. Billy was that kid that always was daydreaming in school. He had a very overactive imagination, especially for an 11-year-old. His dad knew it too…actually it was quite obvious to him most of the time.
    Coming outside the building’s door he ran and fell into two inches of snow, laughing. Up ahead came a very loud yell. “Billy!”

    His eyes looked up and saw the 12 year old girl, Grace Alderman. She was a very good friend to Billy, although he was wanting more than her friendship.

    “Isn’t great,” said Grace wit the biggest smile Billy had ever seen from her.

    “It’s fine.” Billy remarked heaving a snowball onto her thick blue coat.

    Grace had dark brown Herr which most people mistaken as being black. Her family didn’t care for her much. Let her do almost anything she wanted. Which was mostly hanging around Billy. Billy and her always got into trouble.

    “Wow, more snow is falling.” She said opening her mouth to catch the soft icy flakes. “Come on, let’s go to my place.”

    “Must we?” Asked Billy, “I kind of just want to stay here.”

    “Ok,” she grunted.

    Helen was rubbing Jon’s back when the loud laughter entered her ears.

    “Billy outside?” Asked Jon putting on his shirt.

    “Yep.” Helen said walking to put on her bra. “I’ve got a lot of stuff to do today. I won’t be in till late.”

    “You sound more of a man than I do…” He said with a grin.

    “Don’t press your luck,” she said sarcastically, then she gently kissed his lips while bending down for her cell phone. “Sorry about last night.”

    “No problem.” He said as she flew out the door.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The number 3 followed by the number 9. It was apparent Billy couldn’t remember the answer to it. Oh wait, he forgot about the x. 3x9=?
    “27.” Announced Dr. Lecter. “I suggest we look over them one more time, little Billy.”
    “Ok, Dr. Lecter.”
    Billy’s relationship with Hannibal was actually quite better than his own father. Hannibal was always joking around with him. Though there was always something quite dark about him Billy couldn’t pinpoint. The fact that his eyes slowly turn towards something and his grin kind of demonic gave him the chills just thinking about it. But later on Billy learned not too notice of that stuff that gave Hannibal such a evil look. Instead, Billy focused the lighter side of the great doctor. The side that no one ever saw.
    Billy once stayed with Hannibal at his work place, watching how he took care of patients. Dr. Lecter had a strength and knowledge that could not be beaten by anyone Billy knew of. Billy always wondered what college he must have gone to but had never had the time or the remembrance to ask.
    “Dr. Lecter?” Billy asked.
    “Yes, Billy?”
    “Can I stay for dinner tonight?”
    Hannibal smiled, “Don’t know if that’s possible, Billy. You won’t like the stuff I lay out.”
    “Oh come on, Dr. Lecter. I’m willing to try new things.” Billy said jumping around.
    Dr. Lecter shook his head, “No, little Billy, the fact is I’ve got a lot to do before and after dinner. Maybe another time though. “Did your father yell again last night?”
    “Yes sir.”
    “Are you worried about that?”
    “Yes sir.”
    “When loved ones fight, Billy, the occasional thing happens…they make up. It’s because they love each other is the reason why they stay together, even if they have not much in common with each other.”
    “But I know Helen doesn’t like me at all.” Billy said with concern. “I don’t know if I want to like her.”
    “Time will show.” Hannibal added. “Ok, back to your studies.”
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    The tapping continued. What was it? Jon kneeled down to the floor of the hall. In front of him was Hannibal’s door. A small water puddle lay before him. Jon traced the water puddle from the floor to the wall and then to the ceiling. “Oh, shit. Who will be fixing that?”

    Hannibal’s door opened revealing the Doctor. He smiled surprisingly at Jon.

    “Dr. Lecter, how was my son today? He learn those three times tables?” Jon said with curiosity.

    “Yes he did Mr. Chapman. A very well educated young boy.” Hannibal said picking up the newspaper. “Don’t let him out of your sight.”

    “Don’t worry I won’t…”

    “He’s very special.” Hannibal finished and then, he was back in his apartment.

    Jon became confused. Special for what?
