Jurassic Park IV: Deadly Strain (Part 2) By Carnotaur3
EXT. HOSPITAL – DAY
Waving his friends goodbye, MALCOLM heads towards the elevator down the hall when he notices a familiar face.
At the elevator, looking towards him, is LEWIS DODGSON, the man we heard HAMMOND talk about just a few minutes ago.
MALCOLM, beginning a fast pace walk, starts to run to him as he heads into the elevator.
MALCOLM Uh, excuse me? Excuse me. No, wait!
He reaches the elevator and stops the door.
DODGSON Dr. Malcolm – In case you weren’t aware, you are enabling this elevator from going down, preventing me from going to where I desire to go. What is it you want?
MALCOLM Uh, what the hell are you doing here?
DODGSON (Grins forms) I don’t believe that’s any of your business, Dr. Malcolm.
MALCOLM Neither is it your business addressing by my name. That brings up another fantastic question. How’d you know my name? DODGSON The same way you knew mine – I’ve done my research. And in order to conquer your enemy, research must be done. I happen to always make it my business to know who is who in this elaborate game of constant deceit. You do as well, it seems.
MALCOLM Don’t think I won’t find out what you’re up to.
DODGSON Oh, but Dr. Malcolm, I happen to know you’ll never have a clue on what will happen in the next coming days.
A silence plagues the two men, with MALCOLM giving DODGSON a cold stare.
DODGSON I’ll see you around Dr. Malcolm, I’m almost certain of it.
DODGSON winks and smiles. Then, the door of the elevator closes. MALCOLM beats on the door.
MALCOLM Ah, damn it.
CUT TO:
INT. ELEVATOR – DIM
DODGSON presses the send button of his phone and waits for an answer.
KING (V.O.) Yes?
DODSGON Henry, it’s Lewis. Is my flight on schedule?
KING (V.O.) Is it never?
CUT TO:
INT. HELICOPTER – DAY
Wishing through the air and over the land, GRANT finds himself dazed and confused over what is going on. He turns to the closest soldier he can find, LIEUTENANT FORGE.
GRANT Excuse me, what the hell is going on here?
FORGE Dr. Grant, I presume?
GRANT Yes, I’m Dr. Grant. What is the meaning of all this?
FORGE I’m going to explain everything in one clean sweep, Dr. Grant. If it’s one thing we don’t have, it’s time.
GRANT nods to FORGE.
FORGE (cont’d) A couple of months ago we received word that some of our agents had found some dead animal remains of unknown origin on the shores of Puntarenas, Costa Rica. We determined a few weeks ago it was, in fact, dinosaur. Whether it was from Costa Rica or Isla Sorna is still questionable. But we know right now that there are dinosaurs inhabiting Costa Rica. Their existence hasn’t been kept as secret as we hoped for it to be as I’m sure you’ve seen on the television broadcasts. GRANT I’ve been watching, yes.
FORGE If that weren’t enough of a discovery, we also learned of DX.
FORGE It’s a disease and a very deadly one at that. DX stands for ‘deadly extra’. This new classified disease is carried within the dinosaur’s saliva. When you get bitten by one, carnivore most likely, the wound that is inflicted starts to be infected by the saliva and this deadly strain moves through your body in rapid force. First symptoms are drowsiness and incoherent actions. Then comes the worst part, you loose eye sight and in a matter of hours you are pronounced dead. So far there are several victims that are diagnosed with have DX.
GRANT You’re telling me that these dinosaurs are killing humans without eating them?
FORGE Technically yes.
GRANT Well, that’s a whole new one on me.
FORGE We are still trying to quarantine the whole western part of Costa Rica but finding these random villages have proven to be very difficult.
GRANT And you came to me because-
FORGE You’re here to help us to be aware with what to expect with these creatures. Word also has it that you spent most a great quality of time in Costa Rica after having been sent there after the incident on Nublar. GRANT Yes, I know most of it like the back of my hand. I don’t have much of a choice in helping you, do I? FORGE There ‘are’ choices to make, Dr. Grant. It’s just up to you to make the right one.
GRANT, restless and in no need to argue for getting himself back home, sights the US ARMY uniform on him.
GRANT What is your name and rank?
FORGE Lieutenant Forge, sir.
GRANT Well, Lieutenant, thank you for telling me.
FORGE You’re welcome, sir.

EXT. MALCOLM’S HOUSE – DUSK
The door to MALCOLM’S HOUSE flings open. It’s MALCOLM with a piece of luggage in his hand. He’s walking towards the car in the driveway. SARAH MALCOLM calls to him.
SARAH Ian, I beg you, don’t mess with him.
MALCOLM Uh, I think I can handle him.
SARAH He’s a dangerous man, Ian.
MALCOLM I know that and what he’s about to do… whatever he’s about to do I can stop it.
SARAH Where are you going?
MALCOLM I’ll call you when I get there.
MALCOLM opens the trunk and swings the luggage in. Then, he heads for the driver’s side door.
SARAH Where are you going, Ian?
MALCOLM I said I’d call.
MALCOLM jumps inside and starts the car.
CUT TO:
INT. MALCOLM’S CAR – DIM
SARAH taps on the window and MALCOLM drops it down.
SARAH Be careful.
MALCOLM Oh, I will.
SARAH Please, call me.
MALCOLM Enough, I will. I will. Love you.
SARAH Love you too.
MALCOLM pulls up the window and backs up out of the driveway.
CUT TO:
EXT. PENTAGON PARKING LOT – DAY
MALCOLM struggles to get by. Around him are security guards.
MALCOLM If you just give me a chance. Lewis Dodgson… He’s going to… I don’t know… what in the hell, get off me!
CUT TO:
INT. JAIL – DAY
MALCOLM, pressing his face to the bars, let’s out a sigh.
MALCOLM (To himself)
Uh, might not have been the best possible way. Uh, wait’ll Sarah finds out about this.
A police man walks down the hall and to the cell. He opens it up with a quick turn of the keys and knob.
OFFICER A man just paid for your release.
MALCOLM Who?
OFFICER He’s down the hall.
RUDY GAHRAM, puffing a cigarette in the corner, waves MALCOLM to come forward. MALCOLM bewildered by the idea of a unknown man helping him, cautiously walks to him.
MALCOLM Uh…chaos at work… who are you? RUDY I’m your savior, man, your Jesus Christ.
MALCOLM I’m sorry, uh, come again?
They walk down the hall.
RUDY Saw you on the television spurting something about Lewis Dodgson. Not a good way to approach things, my friend.
MALCOLM Uh, yeah, I get that but I…um…don’t get you any.
RUDY I used to work for, Dodgson. I say ‘used to’ meaning, I no longer work for him. And you’re the reason why. All the signing of the confidentiality agreements? Down the drain. All the promises– thrown out the window, in the hopes of saving the likes of you. MALCOLM Ok…
RUDY I know how it is - knowing something that nobody believes is true. Now, I also know that Lewis is planning on doing something. I don’t know what, but he is. Do you know where he’s going?
MALCOLM No clue.
RUDY Have you been watching all the news net-works?
MALCOLM (Stricken) Ah, uh, no! He’s not going to Costa Rica is he?
RUDY Uh huh. If you could get me a ride there, I’ll help you out to get this dirt bag out of the game.
CUT TO:
EXT. CAMP – DAY
The helicopter carrying GRANT and FORGE slowly descends down to the foliage. Seconds later it lands on dirt. Around the chopper are tents, soldiers carrying around equipment, and huge tanks sprayed to match the jungle.
A man at the tent, the one with the disgruntled look, is watching DR. GRANT hop out of the flying machinery.
It’s COLONEL JAMESON again.
JAMESON I see Dr. Grant is here. Lieutenant, bring him forward.
FORGE Yes, sir.
GRANT Pleasure to meet you.
GRANT puts out a hand but the COLONEL refuses to shake it.
JAMESON Saying the same won’t make that stupid smile to be wiped off your fucking face, now will it?
GRANT is silent and stops smiling.
JAMESON Now, come in the tent.
FORGE and GRANT follow in.
CUT TO:
INT. TENT – DAY
JAMESON takes out and unfolds the long map in his hand. After sitting it as flat as possible on the table, he proceeds with information.
JAMESON Without getting cornered by these mother fuckers we’ve found out tactic we can use. If we take in account that all these babies are right in the center of the western part we can somehow move them where we want them. Put them all in a mash pit. That way, we could kill them all at mostly the same time.
FORGE You do know it’s more difficult to do that than you think.
JAMESON Of course I know that. But when you put me and my team together you can’t loose. Dr. Grant?
GRANT Yes sir.
JAMESON Call me fucking Colonel, you son of a bitch.
GRANT Sorry - Colonel.
JAMESON You ride with my team in two hours. That’s, of course, using unmilitary time.
GRANT Yes, Colonel.
JAMESON Ok, then, you may leave.
GRANT turns around to head out.
GRANT You don’t mind…Colonel…that I have a moment with Forge? JAMESON Go, Forge.
LIEUTENANT FORGE heads out the TENT with GRANT.
CUT TO:
EXT. CAMP – DAY
GRANT is pissed off and it’s easy to see to us why.
GRANT What the hell is your Colonel doing talking to me that way?
FORGE Sorry, sir, that’s just the way he is. You’ll have to live with that with the amount of time you are staying here.
GRANT I might have a talk with him alone, later. FORGE I-wouldn’t recommend it.
GRANT I’ll be out of this mission if he doesn’t shape up.
FORGE Ok, your choice.
