--Home Sweet Home-- Part 3 By Carnotaur3
12 EXT. BACKYARD – DAY
Dan was putting logs in his precise place. He sat it down on top of them and then swiped his forehead with his arm.
DAN (Muttering) Good for winter!
Dan looked back to see Gabby standing in the backyard. Her expression was blank, and her eyes were black as coal.
GABBY Come here, Danny!
Dan saw that her mouth did not move as she spoke the words. Fear flew through his body, yet he felt there had to be an explanation for what was going on.
GABBY Come with me.
Again her lips did not budge after the remark.
She left to the side of the house where Dan lost sight of her.
DAN Gab! Where you going? Please, Gabby!
He ran to the other side of the house.
SHE WAS NO WHERE.
Dan’s mouth dropped. Where could she have gone?
He checked over the wooden gate.
NOTHING! NO SIGN OF GABBY!
Was he loosing his mind. He couldn’t tell.
(Maybe she was just sleepwalking. I thought she was at the time. That wasn’t her, I could feel that afterward. Those dark, deep, black eyes were not hers. They were something else’s. Something I will never be able to explain.)
13 INT. HOUSE – DAY
In the kitchen he walks in; his face white, and with a burst of energy he yells:
DAN WHERE WERE YOU?
Gabby looked up at his face.
GABBY What?
DAN Were you outside a few minutes ago?
GABBY No, why?
Dan sits down in his leather chair. Rubbing his temples, he managed to make out what he wanted to say. DAN I saw you outside, just a few minutes ago. It wasn’t you.
GABBY What are you trying to say?
Dan shakes his head in disbelief.
DAN I don’t know. All I know is that I saw you in the backyard! And it wasn’t you!
GABBY Your not making any since! Here! (Points to the couch) Sit down and relax and tell me what you saw.
As he walks to the couch it
CUTS TO:
Him already on the couch finishing up his story.
DAN And it was dark. Very dark, like a black glass eye.
He held his head in his hands.
DAN (cont’d) Am I going nuts?
GABBY No… Your still dramatized by our daughter’s death.
DAN Well, what do I do about it?
GABBY I think we just need to keep her in our memories and just get another child.
DAN I can’t do that!
GABBY Only way.
Dan shook his head.
CUT TO:
14 INT. BASEMENT – DAY
Dan walked in the basement his pajamas skimming the carpet making a swishing sound. He opened the door to the garage.
A gust of cold air came from it; he shut the door.
DAN Forget that!
He walked over to the couch in the basement and sat down, comfortably relaxing his eyes. But when he had done so for the short period he had, he heard the door swing open with a swish.
He opened his eyes, looking at the door, to the garage, which was now swinging open.
DAN DRAFT.
He walked to the door, seeing that the wind was actually blowing it, and he shut it.
He rolled his head around on his neck to get the crick out.
Then he turned around again to get back to the couch. As he did so, the door, again, flew open. This time faster than before.
He stood dumbfounded, seeing that even a little draft couldn’t put that much force in it.
His eyes gazing at he door swinging with the gust of wind. Dan was silent for a while, heart thumping hardly in his chest. Then, with great force, the door shut itself with a powerful jolt.
Dan found himself push back against the wall.
As he stood there, he felt something that was odd. A horrible feeling that made him shudder.
The doorknob started to twist and turn. His initial thought was “Maybe it is Gabby”, but then he remembered that Gabby had gone to her mother’s house. His eyes glanced away from the turning knob.
DAN No, this isn’t happening!
The doorknob kept turning, then, it turned even faster. He, quickly, reached over the knob and locked it.
It kept turning, this time, though, the door was also banging, like it was trying to break it off.
DAN STOP IT!
The door stopped banging, the knob quite turning, and after the incident, Dan began to think it was only in his head.
DAN I’m only seeing things. Only seeing-
He was cut off when the door started knocking again and he immediately ran up the steps and out of the basement.
15 INT. KITCHEN – DAY
Dan is walking around nervously talking to Gabby.
DAN Gab, something is in this house! Something that’s not supposed to be here!
GABBY Dan, you’re sick, you need a doctor.
She has finally busted his bubble!
DAN SHUT UP! IF YOU LOVED ME YOU WOULD BELIEVE ME!
GABBY IT’S A LITTLE HARD TO BELIEVE, DAN!
Dan slams his fist on the table and then went up to the closet in the hall.
GABBY (cont’d) What are you doing?
He puts on his coat. He’s very furious.
DAN I’m going out!
16 EXT. OUTSIDE THE MALL – DAY
Dan is just now going out of the mall, his mind full of questions. He knew something was in his house. Something evil! And he was dead serious about it too.
Carrying his bag of goodies, he walked to his car, only to be stopped by a distinguished looking man.
His name was ROBERT HARDY.
ROBERT Dan? Dan Henderson?
Dan felt uncomfortable.
DAN Do I know you?
ROBERT No, you don’t, but…
DAN Good!
He walked faster to his vehicle, leaving Robert behind. He caught up though.
ROBERT Mr. Henderson, I’m a man with great talent…
DAN I’m sure you are.
ROBERT And if you just let me explain…
DAN Listen, um-
ROBERT Robert Hardy.
DAN Robert, I’ve had a very bad day! If you excuse me, I need to be on my way. ROBERT But, if I don’t help you now, it’ll be too late. DAN What?
Dan shook his head. What was he talking about?
DAN (cont’d) What the hell are you talking about?
Robert shook his head also. Then, Robert spoke up, as if talking to himself.
ROBERT Why did I come? I knew he wouldn’t… I knew you wouldn’t believe me, even if I had tried my best-
DAN Wait!
ROBERT Even if-
DAN WAIT!
Dan looked at him, his eye brows poked up.
DAN (cont’d) Tell me, what you wanted.
ROBERT Only to help, Mr. Henderson! Only to HELP!
