    MISSION: ISLA SORNA
    By CarnaRaptor

    The sun dropped lazily into the beyond reaches of land opposite from where John Caine was staring at it. His period on the Navy vessel was all but sunny, and he was beginning to regret ever leaving the quiet farmlands of Iowa to enroll in the Navy. He left behind a beautiful girlfriend and a simple life for this? Training for the Navy was a difficult lesson learned for most, but John was one of the people who are "naturally gifted". Unfortunately his mind wasn't as leanient as his body as he grew very weary mentally of being out at sea. His first break as a regular was a boring rendezvous to the far north of Costa Rica for reasons that, to him at least, were undisclosed. He could care less about what this was about. All he knew or saw was that a storm was circulating. And judging by its thunderous groans, it wasn't very far away. Just then steps could be heard arriving from the cabins below. From the wide shape of the shadow, it could be no other than Captain William "Eat" Avlotte.

    John gave him the obligatory salute. "Good evening, Captain Avlotte"

    "At ease. Son, The objective has been materialized. We'll be heading back to the good ol U,S of A shortly. Until then, you may want to take all the vitals of this ship down below, a nasty storms a-comin and we sure don't wanna lose some of this equipment" grumbled the Captain.

    John rolled his eyes, though he doubt the captain noticed due to the region being ever-edmore gloomier. "Yes, sir". At first, a slight drizzle had been descending overhead. As he continued his stint above deck, the drizzle gradually turned into what was destined to be a tropical storm.

    "CAINE! REPORT DOWN BELOW IMMEDIATELY!" shouted an officer from below.

    *Easy for you to say you prick*

    John grasped the railing of the vessel to avoid the sheet of rain pouring down on the main deck. Rain pelted against his face and the roar of the winds whistled around and past him. Waves had now begun to seemingly punch at the ships side, and it took a toll on John as he stumbled on occasion. Suddenly, a strike of lightning swooped from the sky, striking nearby. The sudden sensation sent Caine sprawling into the sea. His cries for help were overshadowed by the wrath of nature around him. As if a praise from above had been answered, a life-preserver floated to him. He grappled it and was soon at the will of the waves. A while later, he drifted into unconsciousness.

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    John Caine's eyes felt like giant weights upon his face as they vibrantly struggled to open.
    *God it hurts all over*
    Pain was certainly upon him as he arose to his feet. It seems as if he had stumbled across an island.
    *Well, at least this place cares more for me than those Navy jackasses*
    He began to scan around the surrounding areas to look for food. He was too hungry to think of any other things. The plant life in the area certainly didn't seem ordinary, they seemed "unlike this era" more than anything.
    *Must be a pretty special place*
    Alas, John finally found something edible and engulfed as if it were to be his last meal. With energy now in him, he began to explore the environment. After walking through some foliage he noticed the remains of a half-eaten creature. From what was left, he could see that it looked like a sort of a giant rodent. John than glanced up to notice a quick shadow zoom through the foliage. A quiet hissing sound could be heard somewhere ahead. He wasn’t alone.
    “There’s something very wrong with this place”
