Slayer - 5x05 - You Can Run

CHARGER CITY – CITY HALL – THE MAYOR’S OFFICE – LATE NIGHT
BOB KLINE sits behind his desk and stares over documents. He signs a few, and throws a few out.
BOB’S PHONE rings. A little startled, he picks it up.
Bob: Bob Kline…
DANSVILLE – OUTSKIRTS
THE HOST stands by an abandoned PAY PHONE BOOTH.
The Host: Sir?
SPLIT SCREEN
Bob: Yes, Matt?
Matt: Sir, I’m in Dansville, but I thought the Slayer lived in Charger City.
Bob: There are two of them. I thought I explained that to you.
Matt: You did, but it’s just a little confusing.
Bob: How is it confusing?
Matt: He died and was brought back from the dead, isn’t that a little morbid?
Bob: A little, but when a Slayer dies, another is called. Majestic was the one that was called after Ben died. They share the same power. You’ve ran into him before.
Matt: Right, but if they knew what we were planning, wouldn’t he not stay near The Hellmouth?
Bob: One Slayer must protect the Hellmouth. Buffy is doing it in Sunnydale.
Matt: I understand sir. When I find Majestic, what do you want done?
Bob: The same thing that happened in England.
Matt: Ohhh, uh, Sir?
Bob: I’m sensing something troubling.
Matt: Well, I destroyed the Council, but well, Dan Finkelstein managed to escape somehow – because when I went to burn all the bodies, his was missing and I know that I stabbed him like seventeen times.
BOB moaned.
Bob: This is troubling news. Majestic is to be our hostage…our new Dac, if you will.
Matt: What do you mean?
Bob: A Slayer on our side can strengthen our numbers greatly.
Matt: Right, when I find him, I’ll knock him out and return to the city with him.
Bob: Good.
BOB hung the phone up – FOCUS ON DANSVILLE
MATT, or THE HOST hung the phone up.
He stepped out of the PHONE BOOTH and was met with a HIGH FLYING KICK to his face sending him backwards.
A FIGURE wearing a JEAN JACKET and “preppy clothes,” stepped forward with a SWORD holstered at the waist.
As the figure stepped into the light we see it is MAJESTIC –
Majestic: I hear you’re looking for me.
The HOST landed through the PHONE BOOTH, destroying it. He jumped to his feet fast and started to attack on MAJESTIC.
MAJESTIC was taking the beating of a lifetime. After several blows to the head with THE HOST’S brutal kicks, MATT backed off and walked to the PHONE BOOTH, picking up the PHONE unit itself.
MATT held the PHONE over MAJESTIC, READY TO finish the job – but a KNIFE flew into THE HOST’S CHEST…but not an ordinary knife…it was the SAME KNIFE from ENGLAND.
THE HOST dropped the phone behind him.
DAN FINKELSTEIN started walking towards THE HOST, but he wasn’t ALONE, THREE GIRLS each with different weapons, one with a sword, one with a crossbow, the other with a mace, then a few men with backpacks and luggage bags trailed up behind.
DAN waved his HAND around THE HOST. The EARTH began to tremble as the ground where MATT laid wounded started to lift up from the earth forming a very tall mountain with THE HOST on top.
Dan: Pick him up and take him with us. Mitchell, run and find a car. I need to make a phone call…
DAN flipped his phone open and spoke a name into it.
Dan: Ben.
CHARGER CITY GRAVEYARD
A VAMPIRE stands over a helpless TEEN, A GIRL tackles the VAMPIRE and we can see that it’s RYAN HAWKINS as the defenseless TEEN.
The GIRL rams a stake in the heart of the VAMPIRE. The VAMPIRE looks stunned…
Vampire: Shi-
The VAMPIRE exploded into dust.
The GIRL turned around and looked at the TEEN.
Girl: I thought you knew how to handle these.
Ryan: I guess I did too.
The GIRL steps into light and it’s PARA.
Para: It’s alright, Hawk. Don’t fret it.
Ryan: I haven’t been myself lately.
Para: No one has. Things have been extra weird, especially when we got back.
Ryan: Yeah, I can agree with you on that.
BEN and FALCON walk around from behind the tree.
Ben: Who’s ready for dinner?
PARA, RYAN and FALCON look at BEN.
Ryan: Where is that coming from, Summers?
Ben: The bottom of my gut. After a good slay, I’m hungry. I can’t help it!
Falcon: Is there going to be blood?
Para: Uhh…sure?
Falcon: Well, I can’t feed off humans anymore.
Para: Why?
Falcon: Hello, soul? You were gone for a few months, not a few hundred years. Ben, your girl has got the worst case of amnesia ever.
Ben: Falcon?
Falcon: Yeah?
Ben: Shut up.
Falcon: Right.
FALCON and RYAN started to walk off.
PARA put her arms onto BENS, locking them. PARA released a pleasant sigh.
Ben: What?
Para: Your girl.
Ben: Yeah?
Para: I am you know.
Ben: You are what?
Para: Your girl.
BEN and PARA started to kiss as they walked… … … … walking right into a tree.
OPENING CREDITS
A Zoom in of Charger City at night. “SLAYER” appears in red text.
BEN ran past the DRUMLINE. He took one of the DRUMMER’S sticks and BROKE it across the DRUM. He started running towards the VAMPIRES and staking them left and right. [Starring Ben] BEN, BECKY, and ICE attack dozens of DEMONS.
BRAD throws an AXE in a GRAVEYARD, missing the VAMPIRE, but sending it the other direction.
PARA throws a blue glowing orb at a DEMON. She dances with BEN at a NIGHT CLUB. PARA and BECKY roll on the ground, PULLING each other’s hair. [Para girl] PARA looks at a map with RICK.
SHANE and MARTY swing BASEBALL BATS at a HUGE SCALY DEMON.
RIVER picks up a desk and throws it at the window. The DESK shatters the window. RIVER runs at a wall of lockers and flip kicks himself over a bully. [Jedi A. Malcolm] VAMPIRES surround RIVER, he spins around with a sword, decapitating them all as they turn to dust.
ROWS of TOMBSTONES start to shake. The ground starts to rumble. HANDS fly up from GRAVES. VAMPIRES pull themselves out. They all walk towards a CRYPT. They open the door and file in. A passage way allows them to gain access to an underworld.
TARA looks through her books of spells. TARA kisses MANDY on the lips. [JP3 Girl] TARA’S body splits in too DARK MAGIC and LIGHT MAGIC. TARA’S eyes started to change into different colors.
RICK, BRAD and FALCON GLICK walked through the graveyard. RICK carried an AXE, BRAD carried a CROSSBOW and FALCON carried a SWORD.
FALCON and BEN fight a gang of VAMPIRES. FALCON'S FACE morphs into a VAMPIRE FACE.[Labyrinth] FALCON stands outside of a CRYPT.
RYAN spars with BEN. [Dark Hunter as Ryan] RYAN’S CELL PHONE started to ring. RYAN pulled it off the waist of his belt. He threw the phone up in the air. He pulled a gun from inside his COAT. He OPENED FIRE on the falling CELL PHONE. The PHONE gave a small explosion. RYAN got in his CAR and sped off. RYAN throws a VAMPIRE into a BONFIRE.
THE HEAD of the DEMON rose up to FALCON. FALCON pulled his sword back and sliced the HEAD in HALF.
MANDY blows a dust which begins to GLISTEN in mid air. MANDY throws a ball of energy at THE HOST. [And Mandee as Mandy Rosenberg] MANDY is confronted by DARK TARA.
BEN and RIVER walk the streets of CHARGER CITY with their BLACK coats flapping in the wind as if they were capes. PARA, JOEY, SHANE, and MARTY fall in behind them FULLY ARMED. TARA and MANDY fall in behind them with RYAN and FALCON.
CHARGER CITY – SAME NIGHT
BEN’S HOUSE
RIVER looked at MICHELLE. They were standing and classical music was playing.
Michelle: I can’t believe we actually danced to stuff like this. I mean, today’s music is totally hot.
River: Yeah, but I don’t know how to dance.
Michelle: I would’ve thought everyone learned how to dance from a few weeks ago.
River: Not slow dancing.
Michelle: It’s communication. It’s you and the girl, talking, without words, but movements. It’s amazing. River, have you ever kissed someone?
River: My mother.
[Special Guest Star The Host]
MICHELLE laughed.
Michelle: Anyone else?
River: Ben kisses me goodnight, so does Para.
Michelle: No. Someone you love.
River: Passionately love?
Michelle: Yes.
River: No.
[Special Guest Star Bob as Mayor Bob Kline]
MICHELLE looked at RIVER. She pulled him in close to her. They started slow-dancing with each other.
VADER walked into the living room.
Vader: Oh, sorry…
Michelle: No, actually you’re fine. Walk River through this.
Vader: What’s the problem?
River: I have a dance at school coming up and I’m nervous. I don’t know how to dance.
Vader: Oh. Well it’s communication.
River: Yeah, yeah. I get that.
The FRONT door opened. BEN and PARA walked in the house, closing the door behind them. BEN stopped and listened.
[Guest Starring Aragorn as Shane]
[JP Junkee as Marty]
[PunkNerd as Joey Russo]
Ben: Classical music?
Para: River must be studying.
BEN and PARA walked into the LIVING ROOM. BEN’S JAW dropped open as he saw RIVER and MICHELLE dancing. RIVER noticed it.
River: What?
Ben: Are we dancing again?! I don’t feel a song coming on. Please tell me we’re not singing and dancing again.
Vader: No, he’s nervous about a dance at school.
BEN closed his jaw in relief.
[RickArnold as General Rick Arnold]
[SamFan as Samantha / Sam]
[JesterP as Lieutenant Jester Pocus]
Ben: That’s a relief.
River: No it isn’t.
Ben: Why not?
River: I’m nervous.
Ben: Riv, when I take you out on patrols are you nervous?
River: Err, not really, no.
Ben: This is the same thing.
River: You want me to beat up a girl?
BEN smacked his forehead.
[Vader]
[Yvonne as Michelle]
[Majestic1 as Majestic]
Ben: No, never mind. You’ll do fine.
BEN and PARA walked upstairs to their bedroom.
RIVER looked at MICHELLE.
[Dan as Dan Finkelstein]
Michelle: You should probably get some rest, too.
River: Okay. Well thank you for helping me.
MICHELLE and VADER started to walk out. MICHELLE turned around and looked at RIVER passionately.
[Episode written and directed by Ben Smythe]
RIVER returned the look.
MICHELLE and VADER walked out of the HOUSE.
HIGHWAY – LATE NIGHT
TWO CARS drove, side by side.
CAR 1, a FORD FOCUS and CAR 2 a CHEVY LUMINA, filled with people.
DAN’S VOICE filled BOTH of the CARS.
Dan: If we can get to Charger City before daybreak, it would be better. Keep in mind, when we get there, I can’t control anything that will happen. We’ll just hope that Ben is there and can help us figure this out.
A SEMI appeared RIGHT BEHIND the CARS.
THE HOST stood on top…A VAMPIRE was DRIVING the SEMI.
THE HOST stood up fine using his power to hold him.
Host: Ram both of those cars off the road! If you don’t we’re both dead.
THE SEMI closed up fast on the CARS.
A FEW MILES DOWN THE HIGHWAY –
THREE CARS blocked the LANES. RICK, SAM, JESTER and A FEW ELITE SOLDIERS stood ready and armed.
PARA stood back with FALCON, RIVER, MARTY, JOEY and RYAN.
SHANE, TARA and MANDY stood BEHIND BEN, channeling their energy.
Ben: Now it’s just like Dan said. They will be approaching with two cars, and he wanted us to be prepared for anything. If anything comes at us from behind or from the sides, Crew #1, River, Para, Marty, Joey, Ryan and Falcon, you are to take out whatever it is. Crew #2, The Elite, will back you up. Crew #3, Shane, Tara and Mandy stand by for whatever is coming.
Tara: What are you going to do?
Ben: Stand by.
OTHER SIDE OF HIGHWAY
THE TWO CARS are merely inches away from being hit by the fast moving SEMI. The TWO CARS and the SEMI are now within visual range of THE SCRAPPY GANG and THE ELITE.
Tara: The Host is on the Semi. I can feel his presence.
Ben: I can see him. Tara, can you levitate me to land on the Semi?
Tara: Yes.
Ben: Then do it when I jump.
Para: Ben, No! It’s too dangerous!
Ben: I have to.
BEN started running, unarmed, towards the CARS and the SEMI.
BEN leapt into the AIR and TARA used her magic and sent BEN flying upwards. The HOST saw a figure leap into the air.
Host: New plan…You take out the cars, I’ll take out the Slayer.
Vamp: The Slayer?
BEN’S body flew through the PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW of the SEMI.
THE VAMPIRE looked at BEN and started to punch him, while holding the wheel.
BEN kicked the VAMPIRE’S head into the WINDOW, knocking him out.
BEN jumped up from the PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WINDOW and landed next to THE HOST.
Host: So we meet again.
Ben: It won’t be so good for you this time.
THE HOST started swinging at BEN (very MATRIX STYLE fight sequence, slow motion)
BEN ducked backwards and slid his foot in between THE HOSTS legs, and pulled back sending MATT on his back.
INSIDE THE FORD FOCUS
MAJESTIC saw the FIGHT on top of the SEMI. He threw open his door and pulled himself onto the roof of the CAR. He leapt onto the SEMI that had just connected with the TWO CARS and was now pushing them.
THE HOST leapt back up to his feet and kicked BEN. BEN flew backwards on the SEMI, grabbing the end of it with his hands before flying off.
Ben: Tara! Keep me steady!
THE HOST didn’t know of MAJESTIC and was quite surprised when he turned around to be MET with SEVERAL fists.
The HOST blocked every punch thrown at him.
TARA pulled BEN back up using her magic.
SHANE started muttering an incantation.
Mandy: What are you doing?
SHANE’S EYES turned black and he started walking towards the cars.
Mandy: Shane! Stop!
THE HOST punched MAJESTIC off the SEMI, but SHANE used his magic to catch him, and hurled him into THE HOST. The impact broke through the roof of the SEMI’S BACK END.
The CARGO held FIREWORKS. MAJESITC and THE HOST continued fighting.
SHANE’S EYES flashed RED as the two CARS pulled away and fell back behinds the SEMI.
BEN jumped down onto the FOCUS.
Dan: Majestic is inside! Get him out!
DAN looked at MITCHELL who was driving.
Dan: Get him close to the back end of the truck.
Mitchell: Sir, I don’t have control of the car!
SHANE’S EYES flashed back to BLACK. The FOCUS sped off to the side of the TRUCK. BEN stood on the hood. SHANE was in complete control of the CAR.
RIVER’S SWORD flew from his waist and came right into BEN’S HAND.
River: Shane, you need to pull back.
Shane: Just wait.
POLICE CARS pulled up BEHIND the ELITE…only the POLICE OFFICERS were all VAMPIRES and DIFFERENT DEMONS.
MAYOR BOB KLINE got out of one of the CARS.
Bob: What in the world is going on here?
Rick: It’s an ambush!
TARA turned around and watched.
Tara: Crew 1, take them out.
CREW 1 rushed the POLICE of VAMPIRES and DEMONS, battling them. THE ELITE joined in.
FALCON looked at BOB KLINE. He pulled PARA next to him.
Falcon: That’s him! That’s the guy behind Dac and everything.
Para: Are you sure?
Falcon: He’s the one that took my soul.
Para: Then you fight him. I can’t touch him, he’s the mayor.
Falcon: River, protect her.
RIVER nodded.
BEN used the SWORD on the SIDE of the SEMI, ripping open a HOLE. He JUMPED inside.
MAJESTIC was being held by his NECK. BEN rammed the SWORD into the HOST’S STOMACH.
THE HOST fell backwards, injured.
Ben: We have got to get out of here.
Majestic: Good idea.
BEN and MAJESTIC looked at the SIDE where BEN jumped in…THE HOST used his power to seal it back.
BEN and MAJESTIC looked at the DOORS on the back end. The BOTH charged the DOORS and the FLEW OFF the hinges – MAJESTIC and BEN were now SURFING on the DOORS, fleeing the SEMI.
Tara: Crew 1, 2, and 3 pull back…RETREAT!
SHANE still stood upfront, eyes blacker than night.
THE SCRAPPY GANG and THE ELITE all high tailed it to the WOODS on the side.
FALCON looked at BOB KLINE – ready to attack.
FALCON was thrown backwards…SHANE’S HAND returned to his side.
Falcon: Shane!!
BEN and MAJESTIC’S SURF RIDE turned around and they were brought off the ROAD and crashing into the TREES.
SHANE levitated himself very high.
MANDY and TARA watched.
Tara: He’s running out of magic.
And she was right. SHANE started to fall from his ascension.
Tara: I know what he was going to do. Mandy, pull him back.
Mandy: Tara, don’t. You might bring it out.
TARA shook her head and levitated into the air.
THE SEMI started to swerve to the median of the HIGHWAY, but TARA pushed it back onto the road.
BOB KLINE and his FAULTY POLICE looked on.
Bob: This can’t be good…
THE SEMI CRASHED into THE ELITE’S VEHICLES and THE POLICE CARS
A HUGE EXPLOSION
TARA came back down.
MANDY hugged TARA as she touched the GROUND.
Mandy: You controlled it! Tara! I’m so proud of you.
TARA smiled.
Tara: We should go.
Marty: That’s a good idea.
Tara: I’m walking you home. Everyone else leave.
Ben: Shouldn’t we check and see if anyone’s alive?
Joey: Do you really think –
Ben: If I wanted your opinion Joey…well, I don’t want your opinion.
Rick: We’ll sweep the area. I’ll see to it personally.
Ben: Thank you.
The SCRAPPY GANG and the REMNANTS of the WATCHER’S COUNCIL walked back towards town.
THE SUN BROKE overhead –
THE NEXT MORNING, BEN’S HOUSE
RIVER and BEN sat across from each other at their KITCHEN BAR, eating breakfast. PANCAKES and SAUSAGE was on the menu that morning.
River: So where’s Para?
Ben: Sleeping.
River: I’m so glad you guys are back together.
Ben: I am too.
River: I know she could never be mom, but having her around is like having mom here.
Ben: I know what you mean. It’s a good feeling. So you got a big test?
River: Yeah. Mr. Hunt wants to know why you haven’t been coming. He wants you as a counselor.
Ben: No thanks. I’ve got the Magic Box that I’m running now.
The PHONE rang.
RIVER leapt up and answered it.
River: Hello?
A pause.
River: You’re kidding me. Channel seven? Ben turn the TV to channel seven!
BEN reached for the remote and turned the KITCHEN TV on.
MAYOR BOB KLINE stood at a podium DOWN TOWN.
Bob: …and I have footage from the Highway Surveillance Tapes showing this evil man attacking poor defenseless demons. A vampire that was just trying to make a living as a midnight trucker and a dear close friend of mine, my head of security, Mr. Matt McGuire.
THE HOST, a.k.a. MATT MCGUIRE stood behind the MAYOR.
The MAYOR showed the tape of the battle from last night, only with it being tweaked.
DOWNTOWN
Mayor: Ladies and gentlemen of Charger City, hear me. Demons are quite real. We don’t live in a make believe land where they’re fictional, they are as real as you and me. And this man, Ben Summers thinks he’s above the law. Well myself and City Hall have passed a new law: No Human To Hurt A Demon! I’ve grown tired of seeing my town plagued with slayers, witches, vampires with souls, and even government funded agencies who work with these nasty people! It’s time we put an end to this! Demons have rights too!
The CROWD burst into CHEERS! Many of the attendees were demons, but there were many humans.
BEN’S HOUSE - KITCHEN
BEN and RIVER looked at each other, shocked.
Bob’s Voice: If these renegades think they can beat the law…let them try it again.
