I'm glad somebody is trying to make what looks like a mainstream movie out of a Shakespearean tragedy, but this looks so uninspired and boring. Fassbender and Kurzel are apparently making the Assassin's Creed movie now, so maybe they thought making Macbeth into a medieval action movie would be good practice, but this doesn't look like anything we haven't seen a couple dozen times before (and I don't mean theatrical productions of Macbeth, obviously, just this kind of movie). Just from this trailer, I can see several points where they add stuff in to have more violence and action on screen, and, as someone obsessed with this play, I get the impression that they don't really get it and are using Shakespeare to make an action movie (and a vehicle for Fassbender) rather than using cinema to bring a fresh perspective to Shakespeare.
