    "Macbeth"
On 6/10/2015 at 5:38:37 AM, Ostromite started the thread:

I'm glad somebody is trying to make what looks like a mainstream movie out of a Shakespearean tragedy, but this looks so uninspired and boring. Fassbender and Kurzel are apparently making the Assassin's Creed movie now, so maybe they thought making Macbeth into a medieval action movie would be good practice, but this doesn't look like anything we haven't seen a couple dozen times before (and I don't mean theatrical productions of Macbeth, obviously, just this kind of movie). Just from this trailer, I can see several points where they add stuff in to have more violence and action on screen, and, as someone obsessed with this play, I get the impression that they don't really get it and are using Shakespeare to make an action movie (and a vehicle for Fassbender) rather than using cinema to bring a fresh perspective to Shakespeare.

Ever since I worked on Macbeth several years back, I've been curious to see how it would look in modern cinema.

If this is it, I much rather have stayed curious.

I feel Macbeth has a certain dreary, miserable tone that this trailer completely overshadows with fight scenes and crap.

Overshadows, or the movie just doesn't have it at all.

It sucks because Fassbender is a fucking amazing actor and he might knock it out of the park here.

Early reviews say him & Marion Cotillard knock it out of the park.

At least it will be more watchable than Jurassic World

Indeed. And I very much enjoyed Macbeth when I first read it in high school, so I'll watch this no matter how shitty it is.

Kind of like Jurassic World, really. But this looks much better than JW.
