I'm weary of horror movies these days, but I enjoy Del Toro's style when he's on point and am always hopeful that the movie will handle the supernatural elements nicely.
Those special effects need tidying up.

It only looks generic in the sense that it is clearly of the genre of Gothic horror, but otherwise it's smothered in Del Toro's style. I've never found any of his film's scary, but this looks like Jane Eyre meets The Abominable Dr. Phibes, so I think it will be fun simply for its stylistic pleasures.
Speaking of Jane Eyre, Mia Wasikowska is so gorgeous and I want to see this just to watch her get chased by ghosts in fabulous Victorian dresses, but then you add in Jessica Chastain (also gorgeous) and Tom Hiddleston (also fabulous) to it and you have a powder keg of accidental gay camp.
