Msg #267: On 5/12/2015 at 5:20:17 PM, raptor2000 replied to Msg #265, saying: What little conversation actually happens around here nearly immediately diverges into pointless whining, accusations, and name calling. I know it's always been that way around here but I at least used to enjoy coming here and occasionally had fun, intelligent conversations and debates with some of you. I get absolutely no joy out of coming here anymore, and have gotten to where I don't even bother reading a handful of some people's post, and rarely feel the need to post myself anymore. This doesn't feel like a community of friends anymore...it feels like going into a job you don't really like and being around people that merely tolerate each other. So, while I'm sure a majority of you will be happy to read this, I am ending my 16-year-long history with this site. I'm married now, have a home, a full time job, a family, real friends, and while I enjoyed the drama of this place in high school and college, life is just too short to bother with it now. So to the select few of you who still consider me a friend, it's been a memorable ride and you can still catch me on Facebook. To the rest of you....welp, s'long. Let's all keep hoping JW doesn't suck (but, realistically, it probably will).

Msg #9: On 5/17/2015 at 2:42:07 PM, Narrator replied to Msg #7, saying: I've never had a warm and vibrant welcoming to this site, and I, for one, love it! What is the point of a Jurrasic Park fan page without healthy cyber abuse to satisfy my masochistic urges?
Honestly though, the type of hostility that this page has is a good kind. It keeps people in check. None of this "I like, respect your opinion, but I guess we can agree to disagree on this, and love each other!" nonsense. (I mean, some of you guys do try to do that, but it's never about anything that matters)
Also, when you first came here you were, like... what, 7-11? people actually talk about real shit now. Like linkin park Replies: 15

We literally had "site wars" 10 years ago where people hated each other. Dumbfucks like SGD were rampant. That's how pathetically stupid this place was.
This is honestly the least trolly board I frequent on the internet. Everyone's been weeded out. Replies: 11, 13
He'll be back anyway, even if it's just lurking. (After that post I imagine he'd be too proud to admit it.) You can't just end a 16 year commitment to a site about Jurassic Park on the eve of the next film. Replies: 18

I poke in from time to time, but usually the active conversations are things I don't know anything about (shows I don't watch, films I probably won't see, etc). so I don't chime in that often anymore.
I would have figured things would just shift to Facebook or whatever, given that half of us seem to be on first name bases anyway, and talking for like over a decade in some instances.
I remember a long time ago posting on the Universal Studios forums for JP3, but everyone was leaving to come here, and then there were those UFX forums or whatever. For some reason I was really adamant about staying on the Universal Studios forums, and it got to the point that I became a moderator merely for being the last person there. Back then being a moderator was some stupid thing that made me feel important. Then like within the past couple years I was a moderator on TheForce.Net JediCouncil forums and my God was that just awful.
