    "Bloodborne"
On 4/26/2015 at 4:55:22 AM, Snake Mark started the thread:
    Is anyone else playing?

I truly hated Dark Souls II - and one by affiliation - but I am loving Bloodborne. Not sure if it is because it feels like a massive callback to Nightmare Creatures, the gothic horror backdrop, or if it is tweaked just enough, but I do enjoy it.

I'm liking the difficulty level, and though I'm hearing people saying it really isn't that much less difficult than DS2, I'm actually making progress. In DSII, I literally played the first segment half a dozen times before making *any* progress.

    Anyway, there it is.

Add me on PS4 (TheGamersGhost), maybe we can cross paths!

Also, side-note, Mortal Kombat - anyone on there as well?

As far as I know, Konami never cancelled Silent Hills. I really don't view pulling PT from PSN as a sign they are canceling Silent Hills. Personally, I would have pulled it shortly after it was put on there, kept is as something short term and viral. I'd love to see the numbers on how many times it has been downloaded these past few months.

Rather, I think they may wind up going in an entirely new direction with it. I believe del Toro's "Silent Hills isn't going to happen" comment is either premature or not really his call to make. Maybe his involvement is done, but I really don't think Konami is going to abandon the entry that was meant to reboot one of their most successful franchises - especially when they don't have that much else to bank on outside of Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear.

This is also stemming from the backlash Konami is receiving from Kojima's split from the company. Personally, I would love to see Kojima put his talents into something that isn't a Metal Gear game. Sure, I love the series wholeheartedly, but I want him to be involved in a new universe and to stop expanding on the one that has already been made so god damned convoluted.

Personally, I wouldn't be saddened to see Metal Gear, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill fall off the map for some new ideas. The past few Silent Hill titles have been lackluster to say the least, same going for the Resident Evil Series. Revelations 2 is a clear example that Capcom is entirely out of good ideas for the series. A virus that reacts to fear doesn't even have any logical standing and is another step closer to making RE's villains less menacing and threatening to humanity and more like staple SyFy movie psychotics with no clear vision beyond being "Evil."

So, I guess to answer your question, I care about Bloodborne. Hence why I made a thread about it, because there are more games out there than the slew of 1990's-era franchises that everyone is still trying to cash in on

*EDIT* As of 04/27/15, I stand partially corrected. Konami just officially cancelled Silent Hills as it stood as the collaboration with del Toro and Kojima, but will be pursuing further Silent Hill titles.

Not to mention, Capcom has nothing to do with Silent Hill. If you're commenting on the general state of Survival Horror though, I agree. And disregarding the quality of the previous two main Silent Hill titles, the talent involved with this one was immense - Hideo Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro, and Norman Reedus. The glimpses of the plot promised a lot. Silent Hill is very near and dear to my heart, as it is to lots of other people. It's a franchise that deserves a comeback.

That said, I haven't played any of the Dark Souls/Demon Souls games, but I understand their appeal and significance.

Yeah... was commenting generally on the status of franchise from the 90's.

Talent doesn't necessarily equal anything good. Would much rather of seen Kojima and del Toro team up for a new IP.

With Konami tanking and delisting itself from the New York stock exchange, it wouldn't surprise me if del Toro and Kojima -did- come together to create a new IP. Which would be wonderful.

This game is badass and truly gorgeous and chilling, but holy sh***ing ass mother Christ of c*** f*** is this beast of a game HARD.

Call me a pussy, I do not care. This takes me back to childhood NES Castlevania III/ Ghosts & Goblins level of difficulty. I think I'm getting the hang of it a bit more though. I just have to learn the dance.

Once you do learn it, the game gets a bit easier to blow through until boss battles.

If focuses a bit more on being on the offense than Dark Souls and what-not did; but it does take patience to understand when to attack and when to fuck off.
