Best way to survive a trip to JP? Be a woman or a child -- heavily armed men seem to be the most likely to get killed by dinos. (From 'Evilgrinch')

    "Daredevil"
On 4/10/2015 at 8:31:49 PM, Bryan started the thread:
All that hype...I'm nine episodes in and I'm glad I bought it into it.

This show is awesome. Amazing how it took 12 years for them to finally get Daredevil right.

Msg #2: On 4/11/2015 at 10:03:37 AM, Adam replied, saying:
All 13 episodes downloaded and planning to start it tonight!

Msg #3: On 4/11/2015 at 11:16:25 PM, Bryan replied, saying:
I binged the entire season yesterday. Minor quibbles aside, Daredevil ranks easily as one of the best superhero adaptations of all time. Marvel finally got wise and took a page from DC's TV guidebook, giving us a true-blue superhero serial. The end result is a high-quality powerhouse that correctly captures the characters, tone and setting of Hell's Kitchen. The Marvel/Netflix pairing is off to a running start. I never thought I'd say these words but I cannot wait to see the Defenders band together. Infinity War is gonna be fucking CHAOS.

Msg #4: On 4/12/2015 at 2:51:56 AM, Colin replied, saying:
Three episodes in. This show is magnificent. Wonderful character development. Scenes given a lot of room to breathe. God, I love TV these days.

Msg #5: On 4/12/2015 at 8:40:45 AM, Adam replied, saying:
4 episodes in. This is ridiculously good.

Msg #6: On 4/12/2015 at 11:13:48 PM, elementry replied, saying:
Just finished binge-watching it with the wife.

There were a few slow spots, but over all this was a great show. I was really hoping for a bit more of a tie-in with the MCU. However, I think this show is being treated like Iron Man '08 in that it is only setting up the universe of The Defenders and their eventual teaming up.

Msg #7: On 4/24/2015 at 7:11:22 AM, Grizzle replied, saying:
haven't seen it yet, but it's on my to-watch list.

Also, has anyone watched The Flash or Arrow? Are they any good?

Flash is excellent, as are the first two seasons of Arrow. This current season has been criticized as being kind of all over the place in terms of quality and I have to agree, but it still warrants watching, if nothing else than for the fact that characters and story arcs from the two shows are constantly crossing over from one show to the other. A third show will be joining the line up probably next season.

Msg #9: On 4/25/2015 at 1:11:05 AM, raptor2000 replied, saying:
As for Daredevil, really enjoying it so far. So much more interesting and engaging than Agents of SHIELD or Agent Carter, both of which I gave up on in favor of better shows. It's by far the darkest and most mature installment into the MCU so far, too, and it's done remarkably well. I can't really see any of the Avengers appearing in this show, but that's ok. It can still exist in the same universe without overlap.

Glad to see they've already green lit a season 2.

What a fantastic Season 1. Finished it within a week and eagerly awaiting more. I foresee this becoming a quick favourite of mine. That finale had me giddy as a school boy when he finally dons the suit and fights Fisk. Daaamn.

Msg #11: On 4/28/2015 at 9:41:20 AM, Narrator replied to Msg #9, saying:
There's no way this show is in the same universe as the MCU that encompasses the movies and agents of shield. There's no talk of the large scale alien invasion that happened only a few years ago, or any evidence of the repair that would still be going on, and these mob bosses who would be all over chitauri tech.

Maybe it's a parallel world within the MCU but that new york is not the new york in the avengers.

Except the fact they DO mention the attack on new york and how it's affected prices of living there? And the news paper articles on the Battle of New York in Urich's office?

Not to mention it was announced before the show even entered production that this show and the ones to follow (Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Defenders, etc.) all exist within the MCU, along with Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, and all the films.

Msg #14: On 4/28/2015 at 8:27:37 PM, PunkNerd replied to Msg #11, saying:
The alien invasion is literally a giant part of the ongoing story in terms of the real estate stuff, and there's a close up shot of one of the papers showing the giant space snake crashed onto the buildings. I'm not sure if you're trolling or blind and deaf.

Msg #15: On 4/29/2015 at 12:52:06 AM, Narrator replied, saying:
Oh. When did they show that? I'm only on the 4th ep I think... and tbh I kind of zone in and out of the show while doing other things.

Msg #16: On 4/30/2015 at 3:02:58 AM, PunkNerd replied, saying:
lol, oh. Well spoiler alert, but it's in the I think second to last episode. They talk about it in the very first episode though, and then like, almost every episode after that.

Take a glance in the background of Ben Urich's office: he has two framed front pages there, one featuring the Hulk, the other the Battle of New York. Get yourself some learning, Narrator.

Isn't the story of the series basically... Hell's Kitchen is very vulnerable after the Battle of New York, and that's why the mobsters show up in the first place? The series' catalyst -was- the Battle of New York. I haven't started it yet so idk.

Hell, if anyone did get ahold of Chitauri shit, they're probably saving that for some midseason epicness or season finale.

Msg #21: On 5/6/2015 at 4:30:23 AM, Narrator replied to Msg #19, saying:
I've been excused, this abuse is unnecessary.
