Jurassic Park: Evolution Factor: Chaos chap. 3
    By rex_defender

As the group sat in the tree in wait, they encountered many different types of Herbivorous Dinosaurs. The first species they saw was a group of small Oviraptors, only around three feet high, Jonathan had managed to capture the entire group of Oviraptors in a single shot. But the most impressive photo he shot was from a band of traveling Parasaurolophus, which was moving towards the plains. Jonathan was able to catch the attention of one of the Parasaurolophus; the animal turned it’s head and stared into the camera. Once the camera flashed, the shade from the trees was absorbed and the true colors of the Dinosaur was shown. The flash brought out the beautiful yellowish-green texture of it’s skin and the orange crest that ran up past its head. As the flash went off the animal was spooked, and the herd ran for the plains. Nearly two hours had passed when the group finally decided to leave the tree and head deeper into the forest, Jennifer knew they would have to be careful, due to the fact that they were traveling closer and closer toward carnivore territory.

They had traveled only half a mile, before they heard that very same roar once again. Each one looked in an opposite direction, but once again could not make out anything through the thick forest. “What is that?” Jonathan asked, while looking at Jennifer. “I don’t know, I’ve never heard anything like it.” She replied. “But let’s keep going anyway.” She said. They had gone no more than twenty feet, when they felt the impact tremor, it was something big. “Look” Alex yelled. The group turned towards Alex and the looks on their faces changed to terror as they saw an enormous Bipedal Dinosaur running towards them. Without a thought they ran in the opposite direction of the creature. It was gaining on them as they found a tree with vines, which made it easier for climbing. Jennifer had made it up the vines first, followed by Danah, then Jonathan and Alex, but Brian was lagging behind. The other four had reached the highest branch, around twenty-five feet from the ground, but Brian was only twelve feet from the ground, when the Dinosaur reached them.

Jonathan knew he couldn’t do much, but he also knew he had to do something. He reached for his camera and aimed at the Dinosaurs face, then he took his picture, the flash stopped the Dinosaur for a moment, but it was not long enough. As Brian had just reached seventeen feet up, the Dinosaur closed it’s jaws around his legs. The group heard his yells of pain and agony, yet through all of the pain, he managed to hold onto the vines. The vines were strong enough to hold the group while they were climbing and it even held Brian for a moment, but the carnivore finally pulled him back. Brian fought so hard that the vine ripped from the tree and followed him to the ground as the Dinosaur released him. Jonathan looked in wonder, that Brian wanted to hold on to life so much, that he literally took his last string of life with him. The group looked down at Brian, who was now trying to crawl away, but it was of no use. The Dinosaurs jaws closed, once again, around him, and his screams were cut off as he disappeared. The group was on the other side of the tree when the Carnivore looked up to see where its prey had gone, it sniffed the air and walked off in the opposite direction.

The group breathed a slight sigh of relief as Jennifer went to, a now shaking, Danah and tried to comfort her. “What kind of Dinosaur was that?” Alex said. Jonathan removed the picture from his Polaroid camera and began to fan it. The picture came into focus, revealing a greyish-green head with a mouth full of yellowish teeth slightly open. In the background of the picture, was a slight sail; the same color as the Dinosaurs head, yet it showed the slightest hint of yellow spots. “Was that a Rex or something?” Alex said. “No.” Danah said, “It was a Spinosaurus Aegypticus.” “English, please doctor.” Jonathan replied. “It’s a Dinosaur called Spinosaurus, a superpredator.” Danah continued, “It was believed to be a Piscivorous, a fish eater. But I guess everyone was wrong.” “I thought you said all the meat-eaters were towards the center of the island.” Alex said, looking at Jennifer. “That’s what the maps showed, but I guess we were wrong.” Jonathan looked around the trunk of the tree and saw the Spinosaur walking off into the distance, then he returned to the group.

“Well, apparently the Carnivores are spreading their territories. But Carnivorous animals don’t normally do that, unless..” Danah stopped. “Unless what?” Jonathan said. Danah continued, “Unless they were forced away by something.” The group looked at Danah with confusion. “What, you mean like something scared them away?” Jennifer asked. “Maybe.” Danah replied. “What the hell are you talking about,” Alex said with a bit of anger. “What the hell could scare that thing away?” Danah thought for a moment and said, “Well, I’m not sure, there isn’t very many carnivores bigger than a Spinosaurus. And from what I’ve seen from other animals, I’ve learned that only one thing will intimidate a predator… and that’s a bigger one.” “So,” Alex started. “If that thing was scared away by a bigger meat-eater, that means that whatever’s bigger than that Spinosaur, is somewhere on this island. Right?” “Yes.” Danah said. Alex ran both hands over his face and sighed, he then wiped the sweat from his brow. “Well, let’s go, maybe we can find somewhere higher to stay farther down.” The group agreed, reluctantly, and began to slowly climb down the tree. Hoping that whatever scared the Spinosaur away, wouldn’t find them.
