Jurassic Park: Evolution Factor: Chaos chapter 1(re-posted for reviews)
    By rex_defender

The sun shone bright and high in the afternoon hours of the day. On the island known as Isla Nublar, the afternoon sun gave its plains and forest’s a mystical beautiful, untouched. In the dense jungle, however, the moans of a lone Parasaurlophus bring forth something else. Slowly, silently a dark figure, in the form of a Dinosaur, creeps through the jungle towards the moans. Suddenly, in the plains and fields, the moaning becomes deeper, louder and faster, as suddenly, there is silence. The low moans have been cut off, never to be heard again.

‘Click’, the camera of Jonathan Bradbury’s camera startled the tropical bird and it began to fly away. He turned the camera and checked the counter, it read 10, he merely shook his head and sighed. “After all that time, I still have ten pictures left.” He said to himself. He was a young man in his early twenties, fresh out of college, where he had taken a few early jobs with photography. He was now employed by a nature documentary magazine in California. His employer had sent him to Costa Rica to photograph rarely seen animals in the wild. He had been in Costa Rica for two weeks and he was already wishing to leave for his home back in the states. After setting his camera down, he took off his cap and wiped the sweat from his forehead. Reaching into his pack, he pulled out a bottle of water and a small cloth. After wiping the rest of the sweat form his face, he opened the bottle of water, took a drink, and placed the cap back on the bottle and sat it, and the cloth, back in his pack. He picked up his camera and his pack and made his way through the forest and back to the small city on the edge of the ocean.

It was nearing five o’clock, and Jonathan was settled at a small table at a restaurant in the city. A small space was cleared for his glass of water, while the rest of the table was covered in photographs that he had taken earlier that day. Though his photographs were professionally shot, they meant little to him, because the magazine company he worked for didn’t pay him very well for his photos. He looked up at another table and the man who was sitting at it, the man had been staring at Jonathan and his photographs for around ten minutes. This time, though, the man got up from his seat and walked over to Jonathan and sat across the table from him. “Can I help you?” Jonathan said nervously. “Why yes you can actually.” The man replied. “I have a proposal for you.” “You see, I’ve been looking at your photographs for a while and I must say, they are professional.” The man then picked a photo from the middle of the table up and looked at it. “Especially this one.” He said. The photo was of a tropical bird, head turned and looking at the camera; Jonathan was so close, that the man could even make out the whites of the bird’s eye.

“Oh I’m sorry, let me introduce myself.” The man pulled out a small business card. “My name is Robert Lawless, I own the Lawless Museum of Photographic Art.” The business card read ‘Lawless Museum of Photographic Art: We Bring the World to You. At the bottom of the business card was his name. After reading the card, Jonathan looked back at him and said, “OK, I’m listening.” The man smiled a bit, placed the photo back on the table and adjusted his seat for comfort. “Alright, I have the opportunity of a Life time for you.” “ I’m giving you the chance to photograph the rarest animals on this plant to date.” The man looked back down at Jonathan’s photos. “And what animals would that be?” Jonathan said with curiosity. The man looked back at him. “I’m giving you the opportunity to photograph living, breathing Dinosaurs on Isla Nublar.” He said. Jonathan’s eyes widened and a look of both curiosity and surprise showed on his face. “So, can I mark you down as a volunteer?” Lawless said. Jonathan looked at him with even more surprise. “Are you joking? After the stories I’ve heard.” He said. Lawless reached into his pocket and pulled out a small folded piece of paper and handed it to Jonathan. Jonathan took the paper, unfolded it and looked at the writing on it. It was a price, the price read ten thousand dollars.

Jonathan looked at the paper for a moment before giving it back to him and said “I’m sorry Mr. Lawless, but I don’t think I want to go on a dangerous trip like that.” Lawless’ smiled again and said, “OK, I didn’t think that would convince you, so here.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out another piece of paper and handed it to Jonathan. When Jonathan opened this piece of paper, his eyes widened again as he read one million dollars. “W..well, how long do I have to stay there?” he asked. “A few days, maybe more.” Lawless said. “And don’t worry about anything, we’ve researched the islands and there are large trees that you can stay in most of the time.” He said. Jonathan ran his hand across his face and onto the back of his neck and thought for another moment. Lawless replied with, “So we have an agreement?” Then Jonathan said. “OK, I’ll do it.” “Excellent” Lawless said, “I’ll need you to be packed and be at the Costa Rican International Connections air field by seven in the morning, can you be there?” “Yes” Jonathan said. “Good, I’ll see you tomorrow at seven then.” With that, Lawless got up from his seat and left the restaurant. Jonathan sat at the table a thought about the decision he just made, wondering if it was the right one.
