While the t-rex's "suspicion" may have been based on movement, scientists believe his sense of smell was excellent -- Grant and the kids, therefore, would have been lunch. (From: velocirapteryx)

    Chapter 2: Incubation

Three months passed by the day of the virus disaster that happened in the Edward mansion. All the newspapers in the area only mention that this was massive poisioning by some murderer. The lab staff was hard at work making new technology for the recreating of the dinosaurs. Some new technology that was created is an advance form of an incubator that holds one egg at a time. It is an small oval shape container on a stand with is bolted to the floor. The incubator stands 6 feet high and has a red bulb heat lamp that gets its power from a cord that comes down from the ceiling. It keeps the egg at a constant temperature of 99 degrees Fahrenheit. Two sensors are placed inside the container to sense the slightest movement from the egg and a claw to suspend the egg in the container and measure the temperature of the egg until ready to hatch. Once the egg starts hatching the claw is lowered in the container so the egg can be removed through an exit hatchon the bottom side of the container. Also a new type of microscope is created for the injection process, it combines ultrasound and a high powered microscope so the scientists can see where the cell that needs fertilizing is inside the egg.

'Ralph do you have the DNA prepared to be injected into the egg?' Paul asked.
    'Yes. Let's begin.' Replied Ralph.

Ralph was a middle age man who was a genobiologist. He starting to wrinkly at the face from all his smiling and has some white hair. Ralph walked towards the egg. He was in charge of collecting the genetic material from the viruses because he has the most experience with genetic extraction. A very small hole was drilled into the top of the egg only big enough for the tube containing the DNA to go in. The whole lab staff watched the ultrasound screen as Ralph pierce the egg and injected the DNA into the nucleus . The staff stood there at the monitor to see if it worked. Over 4 hours passed before they saw the cell begin spliting in its sides. Everyone cheered. 'It worked everyone, the first process of cloning a dinosaur.' Said Ralph.

'What's the date of fertilization?' Tom asked.
    'May 13, 2005 at 10: 48 p.m.' Replied Jessica.
'We need to do many more eggs with different DNA that is from the ice.' Said Paul.

After about a week over 100 eggs were fertilized and placed in the incubators. Only about 10 eggs so far have been unsuccessful. The whole staff celebrated their success after the large number of eggs that were successfully fertilized. They open a bottle of wine and poured the red wine into the glasses. Paul lifted his glass and said, 'we have just did the most remarkable thing in history since the landing on the moon. I propose a toast to the future of genetics and biology.'

'Agreed!' Everyone exclaimed. Their glasses clinged together as part of the toast.
'We are going to need an advisor, a paleontologist and a paleobotanist, soon. We have no idea how these animals are going to act or what they eat. Whose one of the best we can get?' Dan asked.
'I looked that up. The paleontologist's name is Andrew Cole and he is currently in Alberta at a fossil dig. The paleobotanist is Kelsey Smith and she is in Africa. They are best of the best in their fields.' Said Paul. 'I'll give them a call when the embryos are getting close to hatching. Which should only take about two to three months.'
