Jurassic Park 4...food chain By giger

    Costa Rica:
The hot humid air presses heavily on Jose Rodriguez's body. Each step he takes makes him feel like he will soon fall to his death from heat stroke, though he trudges on with his camera and pack. He hikes through the jungle in hopes of finding the fabled "flying dinosaurs" that escaped from isla sorna 4 years ago. The same animals, that are being blamed for missing children in nearby villages. There have been sightings of large bird like animals attacking livestock around dusk, so they of course are being blamed for the recent disappearances. He stops and wipes his sweaty mosquito bitten face of with a stained hankerchief. The short tired photographer sits down on the damp ground, sitting indian style. He removes his back pack, opens it, and searches for his jug of water. he searches blindly until his hand brushes the cold wet plastic. "Ahhh! Este eres tu. MMM Muy bueno." But what the sweating costa rican doesnt know is that hes being watched from far above. There is a shadow that falls over him, "que eso?...Aggh!!!" A large blue and orange mass is on top of him before he can move. He feels a sharp pain in his stomach like some one stabed him, he screams loudly as he realizes whats happening, he's being tore apart by a dinosaur. He begins to hit the bird like creature with his canteen, the pterosaur jumps off and lands 10 feet away on the beaten path. It folds it's imense wings, and begins to walk slowly towards Jose. Jose finds his cell phone in his pack and turns it on, he calls the emergency number given to him, by the old english gentleman. The pteranodon opens its massive wings and beats them taking it's self back to the air. Jose looks down at his abdomen for the first time, and what he sees amazes him, he has a hole through his torso, his organs are hanging out, and he's bleeding alot, probally to death, but he cant feel it. He calls the man who said he would help if he needed it, and Jose figured he needed it at this moment. His fingers shiver as if there frozen as he tries to dial the number, finally he succedes. But before he can speak he sees the shadow again and its the last thing Jose will ever see. And the last thing the man on the other line will hear of jose is his tortured screams, and shrill screaches.

    San Diego: Ingen Headquarters
"Sir you must be out of your mind, you want to send men into the jungle searching for the lost dinosaurs? Are you mad?" the man takes a breath, he cant believe how much gull this old fool has. "John, you sold me share to ingen, as you did with the rest of us, and when you did that Mr. Hammond, you sold your power at ingen. I nor any other member of this board will allow more lives to be lost at the hand of dinosaurs, that have made a home in the Costa Rican jungle!" "They are not dinosaurs, they're pterosaurs. There is a difference." Nick Nan Owen smiled ever so immaturely. "Shut up Nick!!" John Hammond had chosen who he thought would best be owners of InGen, but now he was regretting ever signing over a 1/4 of InGen to Ian Malcom. But the others where less scared of death and chaos in general, than of making the same mistakes, that had been done before. "Look, you may have InGen behind you, but there will be an expedition into the jungle regardless of your decision, because I will be damned if there are more lives taken as a result of those abominations being near civilization!" Hammond takes in a deep breath, it was getting hard for him in his condition to argue ethics with a paranoid asshole. "Will the board agree to help me and back the cause, we started this mess, we might as well clean it up." A much more calm and less abrasive voice piped in, "Now John, where you not the one who sent Mr. Rodriguez into the jungle to search for those animals? And did you not do this with out our consent as well?" Hammond looked at this woman who he came to care for as a daughter and respect as partial owner of his company, "Ellie, you are correct in stating that I sent in Mr. Rodriguez, but he is an example of why a team should go in there and kill those birds." Now for the first time since this meeting had started the 4rth board member has sat in his chair, listening carefully. But now he raises his head and with his hand removes his hat, "John who do you plan on sending?" Ian throws his hands in the air in disbelief, "God are we all just losing our minds?!" Hammond smiles,"Only the best, only the best!"

    South Africa:
"Now Run God damn it!!!" The hunter's party scrambles through the savanah's grass, as the wounded cape buffalo charges the ones who attacked it. As the bald hunter turns his head to see where the animal went, he sees it heading straight for his partner John Cooper. Without hesitation Roland Tembo raises his side arm, and fires. John Cooper a small african man stops dead in his tracks as he hears 6 shots go off and a loud thump. He sees the large male caped buffalo, lay about 3 feet behind him. "God Roland, did you want to wait any longer? I mean the bugger was about to stick me good and proper!" Roland wipes the sweat off his brow," You know Mr. Cooper, you are about as much of a health hazard as that black mamba behind you." "Oh shit..." John is in the air without hesitation. But when he sees nothing he looks back at Roland who is stifling a hurendous laugh, "Oh you son of a bitch!! If i wouldnt of dropped my gun somewhere I'd honestly think of shooting your american ass!" Roland looks down and pulls the clip from his customized glock, "hmm only 14 left, that bastard didnt want to go down, did he John?" He looks up at the quieted black man, "whats a matter Lion got yo tounge?" There is a sound in the distance of rotor blades spinning. Roland knows something is up. But before he can say anything John sees the words InGen on the chopper through his binoculars. "Hey Roland, you dont still deal with InGen and that malarchy still do you?" "No, I cut ties with that company, after that messed up incident on the island." He watches it come closer,"but what do they want now?" At Roland's African Ranch: "Mr Tembo, you must help us out...if not for the money, then as a human being. For the love of god man people are dyeing!" Hammond was in bad condition, and knew this trip was a bad idea, he should have sent in Alan or Ellie, Ian would have shot him for even suggesting he get involved in the affair, and Nick, well every one knows how well Tembo and Nick go together, so Hammond came to keep the peace, and boy was he regretting it now. "As I said before Mr. Tembo, you will be properly compensated for your troubles, and you can pick who you wish to join you." Tembo sat in his favorite chair, looking at the heads on his wall. He was thinking how nice Hammond's head would decorate his humble abode. He looked back at the aged old man,"Sir Hammond, you must be out of your mind, I nor anyone here will join you, on this expedition into the jungle, looking for dinosaurs. I made the mistake once, I refuse to make it a second time." "Well then, I guess I've wasted both of our time, so I guess I'll leave you here with your illegal poaching program." Roland snapped to attention,"What?" He cleared his throat, " I assure you sir, that my buissness is truly legitimite." Hammond smiled, "And your visa?" Roland was beat, "Damn you english bastards, when do we leave?" Hammond clutched his amber cane, " Does now work into your schedule?"

InGen Helicopter...en route to Costa Rica:
As the blades spun rythmically, the helicoptor sped towards its destination. And as the machine knew it's direction, the people on board where less sure of what lye ahead. The atmosphere was very suffocating, and each member of Tembo's team where listening to their leader's speach on relying on each other. "And as I have stated on numerous safari's, these are dangerous animals. We have no idea exactly how they will act, or behave. From the information given to me from the company, these animals are extremely dangerous. And as I have some experience with these sort of animals, the main difference is...these beast can fly. They have a aireal advantage. Which means they can be hidden in the sky where we cant see through the trees. And as soon as there is a opening these...um petran...oh hell! These flying wolves can swoop down and take us out. It is of great importance that any noise, movement, or any unnusual sign be taken with extreme care. Am I clear? Any questions?" A large soldior looking man by the name of Russel Kinnly raised his hand unsteadly,"Sir...what do we do when we see these things?" Tembo just sighed and shook his head. He was told this man was reliable, he was thinking otherwise. "What do you think Mr. Kinnly? If you saw a crocodile swimming towards your fishing boat, and you had an assault rifle what would you do? You shoot the damn thing!"" There was noise from the cockpit, and the copilot crawled into the small cabin. He had a stearn look to him, "Mr. Tembo, sir. We will be landing in 15 minutes, be ready to drop, we'll rope you down into a clearing 2 miles south of where the photographer was found. You are to stay in radio contact at all times. Any thing happens we will evac you. Do you understand?" Tembo looked at the man cynically, "No sir, if we are down there and anything happens my men come first, if I give the signal you evacuate immediatly. Do you understand...sir?!" The copilot coward, "Yes." "Good."

    Costa Rica:
A roar echoed in the jungle as the helicoptor hovered over a small clearing. A rope dropped out the cabin door. After that 4 men repelled down onto the damp ground. The rope was hoisted back up and a few seconds later it was lowered again. This time a crate was tied to it. The weapons where a necesity, and Roland knew what he wanted. Tembo looked up as the chopper lifted back into higher altitude, and started foward flight back towards base. He looked to his men, "Gentlemen, you have entered hell. There are 2 rules, listen to me no matter what, and do not do anything other than what I tell you. I'm not being an asshole, I'm keeping you alive." He took a breath. "If you see a dragon...kill it." Cooper looked at his weapon, a 60 callibur assault rifle. More than enough power to take down even the biggest dinosaur, definitly overkill for a couple of pterosaurs. Russel had turned a lovely shade of green. He was terrified of what he had heard about the pteranodons, but he was even more afraid of Tembo's temper, for it was legendary. The fourth member a palientologist, sent in by one of the board members clutched his lucky pack. He hated pteranodons. They where nasty beast, he should know, he almost was pecked to death by a couple. Tembo pulled out a double barrel 10 guage, the same one he used to tranquilize the rex on Sorna, he loaded it with hollow points. He tilted his head towards his men, "What are you looking at? You never saw a big boom stick before?" He looked at the compass on his wrist. "Shall we begin our suicide mission?" The men began their mission into the jungle, what lay ahead no one would ever guess.

    The Jungle:
As the contingent continued their trek into the unknown, a onlooker sat quietly as the team walked underneath its perch. It turned it's head cautiously watching the creatures that where acting like they where up to something. And the large male didn't like the way the humans scanned the sky. As soon as the men had passed, the pteranodon, stepped out of the tree, and opened it's large wings. The wind caught underneath and with a tremendous beat, went air born. The male flew the oppisite direction of the men, for it already had fed, and was no longer going to endanger it's self with out a good reason.

    2 Hours Later:
"And you let it fly away?" Tembo was furious, "Are you mad? You could have picked the son of a bitch off!" Cooper was calm, "Sir, I had a good reason..." " The hell you did? What was it? Where you afraid of killing the pretty birdy? You disgust me! No wonder you missed the buffalo, you didnt want it to die!" Cooper just put his head down, Roland wouldn't listen until he felt better. And in a situation like this, it would be a while. "Sir just calm down, please. You have the men thinking you are insane. And I have a reason." Tembo was irrate,"Oh really! What is it?" "It flew the other way...we are walking away from the nest, not towards it." Tembo shut up, it amazed everyone. Billy, shook his head sadly, he just walked 5 miles in the wrong direction through thick jungle. Boy did he feel like shooting Tembo. Tembo looked up, he was blushed with foolishness. It was easy to track lions, but birds where tricky. And these had made him look like a fool in front of his team. He wouldn't stand it. "Alright you three, we have one hour to rest, then we head back towards the siting, and follow what sign we can trace."

Near A Stream Close To Sighting:
Tembo bent down and looked at the bank, there where odd tracks by something that couldn't walk very well. There was a large fish...or what was left of it lying next to the tracks. It was clean, the fish probally was close to 20 inches in life, but now there was just shredded meat, and scattered organs. Roland looked up, "No wonder it flew off, it just ate. It probally flew back to it's nest. We should continue on." Brennen was dog tired he was a paleontologist, not a mercenary, he was becoming tired of this game of cat and mouse. Why did he have to come along to kill a couple of pterosaurs that where definitly killing people. He liked to see the animals, not get involved in their life cycle. Grant was right, it was his job to watch, not touch, this was getting to be too much. Tembo looked over and saw Billy day dreaming. "Mr. Brennen are you tired?" Billy jumped," Oh no, I'm fine. Are we continuing?" Roland shook his head. "No we'll set up camp, but at dawn we'll find the nest, hopefully they are all in the same area."

    Tembo’s Camp...Next Morning:
The men where given a rude wake up by Tembo who walked up to the sleeping men and kicked them. Billy Brenen had been sleeping and when Tembo came up, he was prepared. He jumped up and tripped him. Tembo fell and hit the ground with some grunting. He smiled as he rose to his feet, he liked this kid. Roland dusted himself off, and picked up his pack and gun. He waited a few minutes while the team hurridly tried to gather their stuff, and leave. A few minutes later the team was walking throught the jungle once again, but this time Roland was on the right path. He had seen a dead goat not far from the camp site, it looked like it had been speared to death. And according to the palientologist, that is how the pter... the birds killed larger animals. That is how they klled the photographer, and that is how they almost killed Billy on Sorna. Roland wasn't taking any chances with these animals, he knew they could do some damage.

    5 Hours Later:
The team had been walking with no sign of the pteranodons, and the men where getting disheartened. Each man had his own reason for being irritated. Billy is of the idea that Roland is a careless poacher. And that he didnt care about the lives of his men, or of his own. Kinnly was just scared, he heard so many stories about the creatures that InGen created, and wasn't sure why he agreed to do this job. And Cooper, Tembo's new found buisness partner. He was excited about the whole ordeal. This was his chance to something he always dreamt of. Each man walked, watching the sky, and the tree tops. The animals, could be any where.

    Secret Facility:
While the men where walking towards the nesting area. The pteranodons where perched on the walls of a secret facility, that few knew of. As the animals where waiting for the creatures to come into the open, they looked into the inside of the base. One flew down and landed beside a cacass next to the facilities artificial pond. It was a hunter by nature, but a free meal was a free meal. The pteranodon, was gouging through the chest of the dead dinosaur, when it was suprised by a large predator that flew out of the drinking pond. The pterosaur tried to take off, but the large creature snapped it's jaws shut on it's right wing. The redish brown therapod threw the bluish pteranodon onto the concrete, killing it effectivly. The animal sniffed it's dinner. It the placed it's foot over it. Smelling the pterosaur, the spinosaur rubbed it's snout around it, before grabbing it in it's teeth. Dead pteranodon is a good change of menu for the spino, especially after it had dwindled it's food supply.

    3 Miles Away:
Tembo looked around. His men's moral was down. He wasn't afraid of them giveing up, but he was afraid of them doing something stupid because of exhaustion. He decided to rest again, he even thought it would be nice to sleep for a whole night. "Well guys, merry christmas! Get some food. We are stopping for the night." Billy collapsed on the spot. Finally.

    Secret Facility:
Swallowing what was left of it's avian meal, the male spinosaur turned back towards the artificial pond. It stepped towards it, when a familiar smell hit it's nostrils. It was the smell of easy prey.

    Tembo's Camp:
Roland Tembo's team of men where ready to proceed. Cracking his neck, Tembo looked at his team. They where sore, but refreshed. Kinnly, actually didn't feel sick today. The last 2 days, he had been nautious with fear. Now he realized, that nothing was going to happen. The pterosaurs where no where near them, or they would have seen them again. Cooper looked at Kinnly, "Well buddy, I believe today is going to be the day. Man am I excited!" Kinnly's complexion paled again, "Why do you say that?" "Tembo says he saw a pteranodon fly over us this morning. Apparently it had a monkey or something. He said it was headed south. Due south, and that's where we are headin'." Kinnly felt his stomach begin to turn, he had seen some bad shit in his day, but he seen what happened to that Rodriguez guy. He was picked clean. And no one in their right mind would want that to happen. Tembo looked around, " Well gentlemen, we have one more day. Shall we kill ourselves some dragons?" The contingent began their journey once again. And even Tembo himself had no idea what suprises lay ahead.

    2 Hours Later:
Stomping in the jungle Tembo's team where feeling irritated. They had spent 2 days out in the jungle, looking for these monsters. But all they see is a couple of glimpses through the trees, and a dead fish. There was no point, the birds wheren't dumb enough to nest close to where they hunt. Billy was contemplating shooting Tembo, then going home, and blasting Hammond and Alan. This was becoming monotonous, at least on Sorna you saw stuff. The only draw back to that, was the stuff wanted to eat you. Billy's thought where cut short when Tembo stopped and raised his hand. The whole team was dead still. Kinnly dry heaved. Cooper followed his bosses gaze. About six hundred yards away in deep jungle, A compound rose from the forest floor. It was dark black, and blended well with the jungle. Billy froze when he saw a sign: Bio Sin: making the future a day at a time, Tembo looked at it uneasily. A pteranodon swooped down towards the team. Cooper raised his gun and sprayed a string of bullets, bringing the bird down in a firey spray. But after the sound had quieted there was another shock...there was a roar in the distance. It came from the compound.

    Tembo's Team:
Tembo looked up, "That was not a pteranondon was it Mr. Brennen?" Billy was feeling sick to his stomach. That sound had just burned right through him. He looked down at his hands, they where trembling. Billy looked honestly at Tembo, "No...it's a spinosaurus. Just like the one who tracked us through Sorna. I think we should get the hell out of here." Kinnly turned away and vomited. He hunched over and gagged deeply. Cooper walked over, and patted his back, "It's alright, I feel the same way." He looked over to the bald Tembo, "We are ending this mission Roland! I will not stand by, and watch you kill us. I refuse to stand by, and die!" There was a bead of sweat rolling down Tembo's head. He was calm, by all other standards. He gazed at the compund, "We have to continue, there is no way we can leave. We are here until all the animals have been neutralized." Brennen was shocked. "You son of a bitch! You knew about this! How could you not tell us?" "I was told that there was a significant chance that Bio Sin had created a few dinosaurs. I didn't know that they where monsters. I still have a responsibility to keep my word." Kinnly wiped his mouth, "Your word! What about your promise to us? To keep us alive!" Tembo smiled grimly,"We'll survive. I keep my word, as a man I will keep it."

    The Front of the Compound:
Looking at the large door to the entrance Tembo was grim, he hated dinosaurs, especially ones with teeth. There was a high pitch screech as a female pteranodon abandonded her eggs in order to attack the trespassers. Kinnly screamed and shot his gun at the hip. Bullets flew towards the pterosaur. One knicked her thin arm, sending her to the ground. She managed to catch her self before hitting the ground. Flapping her wings, the female settled to the ground softly. She opened her beak and screamed. Tembo calmly pulled both triggers on his gun, leveling the bird in her tracks. He turned to his men, "Well, that was interesting! Shall we find a way inside?"

    Inside the Compound:
There was loud sounds outside the walls of it's prison, and the male was irritated. He splashed out of his pond stepping onto the hard cold floor. A strong smell of prey was powerful in the area. And the male was hungry, there had been no food in the area for a long time, other than the occasional flying thing. It's nose in the air, the spino was aggrevated. It wanted food!

    Outside the Compound:
"Damn this thing will not open with out a card key! We dont have a card key! Why didn't Hammond tell me I needed a card key?" His attention caught Billy whipped around, "What do you mean Hammond? How much did you actually know?" "More than I could of told you. I was sworn to silence. I know what we are dealing with, and it's not going to make you happy." Kinnly was still sick he turned his head towards the ground awaiting his next batch of vomit to come rushing up again. This was more than he could bare. "What do you mean make us happy? What are we really here for?" Adrennilin was pumping through Billy's veins and he was thinking of killing Tembo. This was a disaster, how could Alan lead him to believe this would be another adveture, this was nothing but a suicide mission! Tembo looked Billy in the eye, "We are here to kill the pteranodons and capture what dinosaurs we can find. Then InGen will relocate them to Sorna. But our job is simply to capture and report. The rest will be up to the military most likely." Cooper was aghast, "What do you mean capture? Are you mad?" "I mean tranquilize the large animals, and kill the pterosaurs, and small carnivores. And yes I am mad... as in angry." Billy through down his lucky pack in fury, he started towards Tembo. Tembo heard footsteps and rose quickly brandishing his custom glock. "Don't you dare Billy, I don't want to kill you...but I will if I have to." Billy stepped back. He wasn't going to let Tembo shoot him, but he wasn't about to let him get eaten. Tembo heard a a noise, it sounded like heavy footsteps, coming near thm from inside the walls. He raised his double barrel, he opened the barrel, loading it with 2 tranquilizer darts from his pack. The footsteps stopped and there was a roar. It was so close that the men jumped, all but Roland. The sound stopped into dead silence, Billy turned the safety off on his assault rifle. This thing would die before anybody else. The silence lasted for a few moments, but then there was a roar. So loud was it, that Kinnly pissed himself. Then right after it roared the Spinosaur charged. Running across the concrete bridge over the pit, it lowered it's head smashing into the door. It stepped back shaking it's head then charging again. Tembo snapped the barrel shut leveling the gun at the assaulted door. The door had giant dents in it from the assault. The spino roared and hit the door one last time breaking it down. Just as the spino got it's barrings Tembo pulled the trigger. A dart smacked the animal square in the chest. Then another hit right beside it. The large carnivore was out before it even hit the ground. Kinnly passed out, Cooper just stared, and Billy smiled. "Well that was something. Shall we call in?"

    Ingen Headquarters:
What! Ian Malcolm was infuriated, as usual. A Spinosaurus in Costa Rica, and no body told me? John, what where you thinking sending Tembo in there by himself. He’s a loose cannon. Hammond was slightly amused. When you got to be his age, you had to find comedy in life. Malcolm was just a regular riot.

    Costa Rican Jungle:
Sleeping soundly, the male spino made shallow breathing sounds. Expanding and contracting, the beast’s rhythmatic breathing was almost calming in sound…almost. Roland walked around the perimeter of camp. He wasn’t fond of a giant sleeping man eating dinosaur, sleeping 50 yards from the camp. He stepped behind a large palm. His bladder was sending him the message that all the excitement hadn’t left him the time to relieve himself. He unzipped his pants leaned against the tree and moaned in relief. As he stepped back into the open he saw Kinnly sneaking off towards the unconcious monster. Paranoia had gotten the best of Kinnly. Death weighed heavy on his mind. He wanted to go home in one piece, and if it involved killing one of the few dinosaurs in the world, then he would do it. Tembo pulled his side arm out, and clicked the safety off. He creeped towards the suspicious looking soldior.Tembo squeezed the cold weapon in his right hand. He leveled it at Kinnly's head and waited. Kinnly put a bullet in the chamber, unknowing that this action would seal his fate. As he pointed the assault rifle at the cranial area of the dinosaur, he screamed in unison with a gunshot. A searing pain drove through his back and out his abdomen. He dropped his weapon, and slammed his hands to his stomach. He felt warm pulsing blood, flowing out of a open wound. He fell to his knees, tears welling in his eyes. There was another shot, and everything went dark.
