'Moveable feast' is a rarely-used phrase that refers to a holiday that can fall on a different date each year (like Easter). So when Roland yells 'Let's get this movable feast underway!', refering to his large group of potential T-Rex snacks, TLW scribe David Koepp is ironically changing the definition.

    I. The Discovery

Day light began to fade, as the sun set over the majestic horizon. Walking along a beautifully colored beach was Dana Shore; an attractive journalist from California. In her mid thirties, Dana; wearing a white tang top accompanying a Hawaiian silk skirt, was currently on assignment. She had been sent to uncover the mysterious secrets looming in and around Costa Rica. Strange occurrences were being reported in Costa Rica and she had a week to retrieve any information she could. Dana was determined not to return empty handed.

With her blonde hair tied up in a bun, Dana put on her game face as she viewed a small crowd hovered above a large mysterious figure. Tall palms swayed back and forth in response to the gentle ocean breeze, casting numerous shadows onto the sandy beach. Removing her sun glasses, Dana viewed the darkened object covered in both flies and sand. Standing several meters from the scene, a rank stench of decay entered her nostrils. She winced upon inhaling the foul smell.

“What is it?” Dana asked the group of four, looming over the cloud of flies. The men turned, startled by her presence. They glanced at each other, as if they didn’t know what to say.

“I’m sorry mam, but I’m going to have to ask you to leave,” a man replied, leading her away from the scene.

Dana pulled her arm from the man’s grasp. “Relax, relax, I’m here on official –”

“Quite honestly, I couldn’t care less. This doesn’t concern you, so if you would please turn where you came from and –”

“Turn where I came from? I don’t think you understand the lengths I went through to get here. I took a helicopter from San Jose to Puntarenas, then somehow managed to get a cab to take me to God knows where –”

    “Miss –”

“Then I walked through half a mile of jungle –”

“How did you find out about this? Who told you?” the man asked.

“I have my sources. What’s going on here? Why won’t you let me see what –”

“This is official government business. I’m afraid you are not permitted to –”

Suddenly the argument was cut short, due to the sound of a rhythmic flutter coming from the orange colored skies. A black helicopter was attempting to land on the beach. The three men ran towards the chopper.

“Do as I say, and leave now!” the man ordered, hesitantly following the other men.

Dana wasn’t intimidated by the man’s tone. Watching the men scatter down towards the helicopter, Dana moved in closer to the deceased creature. The stench grew stronger with each step she took. With her hand over the lower portion of her face, she removed the camera that was attached to her shoulder strap. A bit nervous, she began to take random pictures of the unknown object.

It’s whine diminishing, the helicopter had come to a complete landing, lessening the time Dana had to collect clues to the increasingly complicated mystery. Studying the features of the object, she noticed rough skin, indicating that the animal was some sort of a lizard... yet no lizard was the size of a cow, at least none that she knew of. She pulled out a small pocket knife and began cutting a small portion of skin. Inserting the tissue sample into a plastic bag, she heard yelling from the far end of the beach. The group of four, had increased to eight, as four other men followed. Strangely, the other four men, wore uniforms along with small tanks, attached to their backs.

What the hell is going on here? Some kind of government conspiracy? she asked, jumping from her crouched position. Alarmed by all the commotion, she fell back into the beach sand.

“Don’t let her get away!” a voice sounded in the distance.

Dana was overwhelmed with fear. Her heart began to pound fiercely in her ears.

Before she could regain her balance, a man picked her up violently, clasping his hand over her mouth. She struggled, but was unable to fight him off, he was too strong. As she was being dragged away from the scene, two men began to torch the unknown creature until it was reduced to a burnt crisp. The winds would surely blow the remains away into an unrecognizable dust.

The man tossed her into the barren helicopter and quickly drew the door shut.

“I told you to turn back, I told you. But no, you had to play Nancy Drew and stick your nose where it doesn’t belong,” the man said, repeatedly.

Wiping an unformed tear from her eye, Dana picked herself up and dived straight for the door. The man was quick to catch her.

“What do you want from me?” she asked breathlessly.

“Me? I want nothing from you. You’ve seen too much.”

“If you let me go, I swear to you I’ll deny everything I saw today,” Dana pleaded.

“I wish I could believe you, really I do, but lets not be naive about this. Your a reporter for God’s sake,” he said, removing an identification tag from her blouse.

    “A journalist,” Dana corrected.

“Whatever. Either way your a thorn in our sides and we can’t take the risk of you telling someone of todays events. Word spreads fast around these parts.”

“So what happens now? Are you going to kill me?”

    “That’s not up to me...”

    “Really? Then who?” she demanded.

The door slid open, revealing the men previously seen torching the lifeless creature.

“Who the fuck is she?” the masked man asked, setting a tank aside.

The man holding Dana captive, threw the identification tag to the other.

“A reporter? Jesus Christ, how the hell did she find out about this?” the man exclaimed.

“It was only a matter of time before something like this happened,” the other protested.

The rest of the group entered the helicopter, dumping their equipment in the back. Suddenly, there was a jolt, indicating that the helicopter was ready to leave the site. Hearing the helicopters propellers moving at tremendous speeds, Dana was more fearful than ever. What was going to happen to her?

Lifting from the beach shore, the helicopter rose into the dimmed sky. The man pulled the camera from her neck and rubbed the temple of his head in frustration. “What are we going to do with you?” he asked, in deep thought. As he stared out the window, waiting for an idea to approach him, he knew what must be done. The helicopter, now a good mile away from the shore, hovered above an endless ocean.

Opening the door, the man unleashed a fierce wind into the interior of the chopper. Dana’s eyes widened as she knew what would become of her. Pulling a small pistol from his vest, the man aimed it at her forehead.

“You can’t be serious,” the man holding her replied.

“The hell I am,” he said, the tip of the gun resting on Dana’s temple.

Dana, her vision obscured by tears, wouldn’t allow herself to die this way. She just couldn’t.

“Jesus Christ Dodgson, you’ve gone crazy! Think about what your doing here. Your just adding a whole bunch of problems to a list that is well occupied with them. Put the gun down. I’m sure we can settle this, some other way,” he said.

“No one will ever know. This can’t get traced back to us,” the man replied.

In amidst the argument, Dana gathered enough courage to fight. With a swift kick to his groin, the gun tumbled to the floor. Pushing herself away from the other man’s grip, she reached for the gun. Suddenly her hair was tugged and with great force, pushing her face into the wall.

Dana, her nose in the process of bleeding, dug her nails into her foe. The man screamed, and with a powerful punch, pushed her out of the helicopter. Dana closed her eyes and prepared for a harsh impact with the sharp waves below. Dodgson watched her fall to her presumed death and smiled despite the immense pain he felt. Flying away from the vicinity, the helicopter left Dana for dead.
