D.N.A. Chapter- A Bridge To Chaos-

Fog snuck up the horizon like a blanket, turning trees to a ghostly white and dinosaurs into mere shadows. Alan sat in a tree, content with the song of birds and brachisaurs in the fields, there they were; sitting in a giant metal lift, a devastating loss overnight; losing both Josh and Jack to the raptors; well maybe not Jack for they had not seen him but Justin had defended them as a pack followed them. They locked up in a metal lift, and pulled themselves up high. Grant sat up and helped Fiona as she tugged at a lever, jutting out the side of a brass box. He slammed it down and the lift chugged into life, slowly at first and sped up. Just as they left the tree line they found why the lift was there, it was a gondola that circled that area; metal railing came out the sideline and if one wished too they could hop out and walk along them. They reached high above a tree and stopped, below was a satisfied Stegosaurus munching on a few leaves from a berry bush. "Ok, Justin should see us from up here; we'll just turn on the light before it gets dark" Fiona said and pushed a black switch that filled the trees and the gondala with a bright light. Grant froze for a second and relaxed as he realised that nothing would be able to get them anway. Night came eventually, a waxed moon slided across the inky blackness of the sky like a pendulum. That's when it started, Grant and Fiona had just finished theorising ways that the herbivores could consume rocks when a distant crow sounded way off, out from the treeline burst a flock of pteranodons. Sqwawking loudly and baring their....gums. They flew over to their lift, they were attracted to it. One of them flew right up to the glass, looking at it slowly with its big brown eyes suddenly it bashed its beak into the glass; shattering it and showering Grant and Fiona with glass. Slowly but slowly Grant reached for a shotgun on his side, the pteranodon began to take flight. Grant grabbed the shotgun; missed it and it dropped, clattering onto the metal floor. The beast stopped.
It turned back to them just in time to face the barrel of a shotgun, it fired and its head fell to the ground. Fiona slammed down on the black lever while Grant reloaded and the lift went into motion, attracting the rest of the flock; they tall took flight and followed. Grant fired at them but they were too quick, swooping around and slamming into the glass, one made it in; Fiona stmped on its head and it fell dead with a broken skull. The pteranodon flock became denser and the lift began to creak with the weight. Grant threw open the door, Fiona grabbed the backbacks while Grant held them off and together they got onto the parallel bridge that followed the lift. Fiona shooting the beasts with her glock, they ran down the the bridge, Fiona running backwards and firing. The clip ran out and collapsed to the ground in a smokey heap. She choked back a scream, turned and ran after Grant who fired repeatedly; sparks flying out the barrel. A pteranodon came forward and grabbed Fiona with its leathery claws; it lifted her whileshe screamed for Grant. Turning, Grant punctured a big hole into its wing; blood gushing out and onto Fiona. It released her and she collapsed to the metal floor.
She got up and ran harder, their fears came true as the bridge finally ran out where the builders stopped building. They stared behind them, the ghastly shapes of giant birds flying at them, the orange scales and wide wings was terrifying. They gulped and jumped into the darkness below, the tumbled through the trees and landed in something soft and scaly; Grant gave up and let the dinosaur eat him.
He opened his eyes to see Justin staring over him, smiling with Aaron and Fiona. The pteranodons screamed as their prey escaped, Grant looked around to see that he was in fact in a hovercraft flying through the dense undergrowth.
