    Capter 1

Ian Malcolm looked down at the letter in his hands. He was unsure of what to say. In act, he was appalled that they would ask him. Still surprised, he read it again.
    It read:
    Dr. Malcolm,
We are requesting that you lead an expedition to Isla Sorna. This will be a paid expedition, and we have guaranteed safety precautions. All we are asking you to do is organize a research team to categorize the dinosaur species currently inhabiting the Island. We understand your skepticism on going back to the island, but we assure you, safety is one of our concerns. Also, we are willing to pay you as well as anyone who accompanies you $250,000 for your help. You will be supplied with weapons and equipment.
    Sincerely,
    Henry Smith, Biosyn Corporate Manager

It was a pretty convincing letter. However, nothing ever went as planned on those islands. But…….there was money involved. It sounded pretty safe. After all, they did say ‘safety is our concern’. He did have theories to prove, and this was a perfect opportunity. Although still hesitant, he convinced himself. With a sigh, he began to write:

    Dear Mr. Smith,
I would be happy to lead an expedition………..

Now all he had to do was put together a team. His first choice was, naturally, Alan Grant. But he knew Grant would never agree to go on another trip to Isla Sorna. There was another candidate, though. Billy Brennan, Grant’s associate. He had been on the island before. And despite his near-death experience, he heard that Billy was eager to get back on the Islands to study the dinosaurs there. However, Grant would never let him go. Still, Ian had to try. He rummaged through his messy desk, searching for the small piece of paper that had the number of the dig site Billy was working at. Finally, he found the piece of paper, and dialed the number. After 3 rings, someone answered the phone.

“Hello?” the female voice on the other end of the line said.
“Hi. This is Dr. Malcolm, and I’m looking for Billy Brennan.”
    “OK, wait a minute.”
After a little while, someone came back on.
    “Hello?” asked Billy.
    “Yes, this is Dr. Malcolm,”
“Oh, what can I do for you Dr. Malcolm?”
“Yes, well, I was wondering if you would like to join my research expedition to Isla Sorna.”
“Well……” Billy answered after a long pause.
“There’s money involved,” said Ian, trying to convince him.
“Umm…..Dr. Grant would never let me go.”
“It’s completely safe, and I’m sure Dr. Grant would think so too.”
“Are you sure? I mean…….” Answered Billy, still slightly skeptical.
“I asked Dr. Grant he said it was ok.” Ian lied.
“Fine. Okay.” Said Billy, finally convinced.
    “Great. Okay. We’re leaving tomorrow.”
    “Is anyone else coming?”
“I don’t know yet,” he said, and then hung up. He had another choice in mind.

    The Next Day

Dr. Cassie Santos peered down at the velociraptor scull she was excavating. The scull was in fairly good shape. Her team had also dug up some hadrosaurs, which was good too. Cassie loved paleontology. She dedicated her life too it. Born in Costa Rica, she heard a lot about the ‘dinosaur islands’ from her relatives there. She really wanted to get on those Islands. It would be exciting, she thought.
The slamming of a car door just outside her tent startled her out of her daydream. Walking out, she covered her eyes from the glaring sun with her hand. She was surprised to see Dr. Ian Malcolm walking toward her.
“Hi Cassie,” he said, “How ya doing?”
“Good,” she replied, “What do you want?”
“Well, I would like a hamburger, but that’s besides the point.” He said jokingly.
    Giggling, she said, “No, really.”
“I want you to join my expedition to Isla Sorna.” He said, seriously this time.
    Cassie thought for a moment.
    “Okay.” She said. “I’ll go.”
“Are you sure? Those islands are dangerous.”
“I know, but I’ve always wanted to go. It’s my dream.”
“Well, okay then. Pack your bags, we’re leaving in 8 hours.”
“OK,” Cassie said, hardly suppressing her excitement.
“Just don’t tell me I didn’t warn you, cause when we get there, you might regret this.”
“Ian, I’m sure I want to go.”
    “Okay.”
He got back in the car while Cassie went to go pack.

8 Hours Later, at the Air Base.

When Cassie arrived at the Air Base, Ian was already there, along with this other guy. He had blond-ish hair, and he looked uncertain.
When she got closer, she heard what he was saying.
“Are you sure? I really don’t think I should come. Dr. Grant said it’s dangerous. Who else is coming?”
“Don’t worry Billy. Everything is going to go as planned.” Ian replied, trying to convince the kid.
“That’s what they said last time.” He replied, still uncertain.
Cassie walked up to them. She could see that Ian wasn’t so certain about this expedition either. When he spotted her, he walked over to her.
“Good. You’re here. We’re just about to board the chopper.”
    “Oh. Ok.” She replied.
“Oh, and this is Billy Brennan,” he said, and Billy shook her hand.
“Hi, I’m Cassie,” she said politely.
“Okay, it’s time to go,” Ian announced.

All three of them boarded the chopper.

    Chapter 2

Isla Sorna, 207 Miles off the Coast of Costa Rica.

Green trees and luscious forests surrounded the small team. Once they got on the chopper, 3 more people joined Ian, Billy, and Cassie. Two of them were hired mercenaries. Their names were Douglas and Nealson. They hadn’t told their first names yet. The last one was Dr. Regan, a zoologist. On the chopper, he explained to him how a pane is supposed to pick them up at 12:00 PM in exactly 3 days. The chopper then landed, dropped them off, and then left.

As they watched the chopper leave, Ian gathered the group to hand out the supplies.
“Ok, everybody is going to get a 2-way radio, so we can contact each other.”
    Everybody nodded.
“We’re not going to split up. We have to stick together. We have to get the job done, because believe me, you don’t want to stay on this Island any longer than you have to.” He continued, “Well, lets go.”
Everyone started heading East. According to the map, they were heading into t-rex territory.

As Billy continued walking, he was getting more and more apprehensive with each step. Something didn’t seem right.

Suddenly, a deafening roar pierced the air.

Next to him, Cassie gasped in horror. “Tyrannosaurus,” she whispered.

Suddenly, 15 feet in front of them, a baby T-Rex burst out of the bushes. It approached them slowly, sniffing the air.
“It’s a baby,” Cassie said, and began advancing toward it.
“No!” Ian said, “Don’t touch it Cassie!”
Ignoring him, she kneeled down in front of it. Slowly and cautiously she reached her hand toward it.
“Cassie, no!” Both Ian and Billy shouted. Billy was only 3 feet away from her.
Just before her hand touched the baby t-rex, it jumped back and made a barking noise.
“Oh no, It’s calling mommy to come help!” Ian said.
Just as he finished saying that, a full grown rex burst out of the trees with a ferocious roar. It walked over to them, its thunderous footfalls shaking the ground.
“Nobody move! It tracks motion!” Ian told everyone.
    Everybody stayed painstakingly still.
The t-rex walked over to Billy and Cassie, who were closest. The t-rex sniffed the air above their heads. Then it roared right in front of them, exposing its many rows of razor-sharp teeth. By then, they were both shaking in fear.
“Billy, Cassie,” Ian said behind them, his voice barely above a whisper, when I say go, run into that grove of trees. The rex is too big to fit in between the trees.”
Billy glanced to his left and saw what Ian ment, and nodded.
    “Okay…………..go!”
As soon as the word left his mouth, Billy ran as fast as he could, Cassie right behind him. Ian and the others ran to the right, the opposite direction that Cassie and Billy were running. Doing this, he distracted the t-rex, but it still chose to go after Billy and Cassie.

Cassie ran as fast as she could. Suddenly, she tripped over a root sticking out of the ground. She fell headlong onto the ground and lost consciousness.

Billy soon realized he had gotten separated from Cassie. She must have tripped, and because of the tall grass, he hadn’t noticed. The t-rex had given up on chasing him, so he was safe-for now. His problems weren’t over, though. He had to find Cassie.
He had no idea which direction they had come from, either. Great, he thought, I’m lost. I told them I had a bad feeling about this.
With an angry sigh, he set out to find Cassie. Suddenly, he remembered the radios. He had almost forgotten about the radios Ian had passed out. With renewed hope, he turned on the radio
“Hello? Can anyone hear me?” he called desperately. No answer. A sudden rustling in a bush not far from him caught his attention. He looked around, and spotted a climbable tree. Once in relative safety, he continued calling, but to no avail.
“Well, how much worse can it get?” he asked no one in particular.

But he had no idea how much worse it was going to get.
