    JP Vacation Chapter 3
    By badraptor

    1:30p.m.

The four men walked into the jungle, while the other passengers tried to follow. Everyone was nervous.
“Billy, do you know where we’re going?” asked Josh.
“Not yet, but I think that we can find the visitor center. It’s about a mile away from here. Dr. Grant told me about the whole island,” Billy replied. Wyatt stopped walking and thought for a moment.
“Oh yeah, I remember! This is the dinosaur park that John Hammond made. I’ve heard some pretty nasty stories about this place. Haven’t you been here before, Billy?” he said.
“No. I have been to Isla Sorna, the breeding place for the animals on this island. By the way, before we start forgetting about the dinosaurs, I’ll have to tell you about them. That one that attacked a few minutes ago was a tyrannosaurus. There are also some other man-sized dinos called velociraptors. They are extremely smart. Some of them may be smarter than us. Those are the most dangerous creatures on this island.”
“How could dinosaurs be smarter than us?!” Josh asked, frustrated at the thought of them being smarter than humans. Before Billy could answer Josh’s question, a scream of pain rang through their ears. John noticed that the other passengers were about twenty feet away from the four men, and one of the women had screamed.
Josh, Billy, Wyatt, and John dashed to the other group--carrying the suitcases. They looked on in horror at the sight of a raptor on top of a man who looked like he was almost eighty years old. John thought-how did he survive the plane crash?! The raptor was snarling as the old man wept, knowing that he would die. Instead of killing him, the raptor looked over at Billy. Billy looked into its eyes and then noticed something very weird-and scary. It was white with black spots across its body. Billy remembered that it was the same one that was on Sorna. Everyone was at the edge of the fence, with their backs turned to the beach.
“How the hell did you get here!!!” Billy shouted. The others looked at him as four other raptors jumped out of the foliage. The stranded people turned to face four six-foot tall dinosaurs with feather-looking quills on the back on their heads. The first was a female, and didn’t have the quills. The dinosaurs sniffed the air and growled. Josh slowly walked to the back of the group of people. He had a plan.
The raptors started barking at each other, as if they were having a conversation. Josh opened up a box and noticed that it must have been the plane’s first aid kit. He saw a flare gun along with five flares. He loaded one of the flares into the gun. He stood beside Billy and gave him the box, slowly.
“Move!” Josh shouted; he aimed the gun at the white and black raptor and fired. The people looked at him as the flare neared the raptor’s head. “RUN!!” he yelled. Everyone agreed with that. The flare distracted the raptors as the people ran into the jungle yet again.
“That might have saved us, but I think it made them mad,” Wyatt stated. He really didn’t want to die. The twenty-four people ran in the direction of the visitor center. The old man was dead now. John heard his screams. He also saw that all five raptors were approaching the group fast. Billy saw a big tree with several white stones around it. Then he noticed that they weren’t stones. They were eggs. He stopped at the tree and told the others to do so, too.
“Why are we stopping!?” the man named Patrick yelled. The raptors behind also stopped.
“We now have an advantage,” said Billy, pointing to the eggs. He picked one up. The raptors backed away slightly. “We have their eggs, they spare our lives.” He grinned. He remembered how this had saved Grant’s and the Kirbys’ lives.
Billy grabbed three more eggs and stuffed them into his backpack carefully. “Now we can get out of here. These dinos won’t mess with us for a while, as long as we have the eggs, we are safe.”
The white and black raptor—the queen—squeaked. She was afraid. Billy now knew that the raptors had somehow been moved to the island, because Grant had said that the first three had been destroyed. He was also confused about the rexes. Grant had said that only one rex was made. It had to be dead by now. Unless someone had come to Nublar after the first incident and created another one. But why would they do that?
“I think we need to get out of here,” Wyatt said, fearful of the raptors, “how do we know that the raptors won’t kill us? Maybe they’ll just keep you alive, Billy.”
“No, they’re not that stupid. If they kill anyone, one of the eggs is destroyed. They can’t let their babies die,” Billy stated. The group of people started walking away from the raptors. Billy noticed that the raptors had stopped glaring at him, so the humans could easily get away.
As the group went north to the visitor center, some people started to become hungry. Especially the rich fat woman named Georgia.
“Now where can I get something to eat? Did anyone bring anything with them that I could eat?”
“Why in the hell would someone give their food to you, you fat bi---,” Patrick started to say. Josh had interrupted him.
“Why doesn’t everyone just shut up, and when we find somewhere safe, we can eat!!”
“Do you have food?!” Georgia shouted at him, “If you’re hiding food, I think that we all need a share of it!”
“Not if we’re gonna fight over it,” Wyatt said. Wyatt clenched his suitcase in his hands. Georgia backed off the subject. She was getting tired, so she would save her energy until she had something to put in her stomach.
Billy looked up into the light ahead as the sun shone brightly. He saw a devastating sight.
As everyone came out of the jungle into a meadow, Billy realized how the raptors had gotten to this island. In the stretch of land before them, the passengers saw at least twenty bodies lying on the ground in pools of blood and feces. Body parts were laid across the landscape in a horrific sight. The group tried to move on in between the maimed bodies. Jenny, the brown-haired teen, moved to the front of the group with Josh. She held on to his arm.
“Do you know what happened here, Billy?” Josh asked, “Whatever it was, it wasn’t a battle. It was a massacre.”
“I think we’ll find out soon enough,” Billy said.
