    JP Vacation

    JP-Vacation (birthdate: July 2001!)

    8:00a.m.

John Satterly sat impatiently on his black leather sofa waiting for an incoming call. He was going on vacation to Costa Rica with his girlfriend Carrie. They had been together since high school. They even went to college together. They went to Michigan State. They were now living in Detroit. John and Carrie both had gotten out of college recently, and needed some time to relax. They would have the best time of their lives. As he thought of what they could do together, the phone rang.
John quickly jumped off his sofa and sprinted to the phone. Please be Carrie. Please.
“Hey, John, are you packed?” the soft voice on the other line said.
    “You bet.”
“Well I’m ready, and our flight is at 8:30. We should leave now.”
“I’ll come pick you up, okay?”
“Okay. See you in a couple minutes.”
I can’t wait, John thought. Carrie was staying at her mother’s house two blocks away. It wouldn’t take John long to get there.

    1:00p.m.

John and Carrie were riding on a Boeing 737. It had ninety-three passengers on board. They were in the first-class section. The plane was so comforting that John had gone to sleep. Carrie was chewing on a granola bar.
John accidentally bought his seat away from Carrie. He was in the aisle, she had a window seat, and a young man was between them. Carrie decided to have a conversation with the teenager.
“Hello, my name’s Carrie Delaney. What’s yours?”
“I’m Josh Garrison,” the teen said. They shook hands and smiled at each other.
“Where are you going?” Carrie inquired.
“I’m just going on a trip to San Jose, Costa Rica. My family lives there.”
“Oh. Well, it looks like we’ll see each other a lot. I’m on vacation.” She smiled and started to stare out the window next to her. She saw a faint sign of land a few miles to the west of the plane. She then saw a shadow covering the left wing of the plane. The plane then got darker. John woke up. Something big was flying above it. Everyone noticed the same thing.
“We are now lowering our altitude to 7,200 feet,” the pilot stated over the loudspeaker. The passengers soon heard a horrific scream. It was coming from outside the plane. Carrie glanced out the window again, noticing a large bird-like creature clinging onto the wing of the plane. It started pecking on it. More of the creatures appeared out of the sky and covered the plane. The passengers started screaming and ducking in cover as the animals started to peck holes into the fuselage.
The lights in the plane started flashing, and the whole plane started to shake violently. John was already wishing he hadn’t gotten on the plane. The oxygen masks popped out of the overhead compartments. Like that’s gonna help, John thought. The five-foot long beaks of the animals were stabbing some of the passengers. Everyone was helpless. John looked to the window to his left and saw the wing of the plane being torn to shreds.
All of a sudden, the plane started to dive, rushing towards the sea below. The ‘animals’, or pteranodons, followed the plane.
Austin, the pilot, sat in his seat--trying not to panic and lose control of the plane. He tried to get it to rise back up into the air. He felt the plane tilt upwards slightly, but it didn’t have enough altitude to reach Costa Rica.
A spastic jerk of the plane made Austin nervous. He then realized that the pteranodons had ripped the tail off. Now the plane couldn’t go anywhere but down.

    1:10p.m.

“5,000 feet.” Austin was waiting for death to greet him. “3,500 feet—2,000 feet—1,500 feet—750 feet-.”
John sat in his seat, praying during the last few seconds of his life.
“God help us,” he said, closing his eyes.
The plane slammed into the ocean at 500 mph. The only things that slowed it down were the wings. They were shredded when they hit the water.
As the plane began to submerge, the very few survivors of the crash started to swim as fast as they could to get out of the sinking plane.
Josh and Carrie unbuckled their seat belts and swam through one of the huge holes in the side of the fuselage. Carrie tried to look around for any sign of John. He was sitting beside Josh before, but he was gone before the two had gotten out of the plane.
The two swam up to the water’s surface. They saw a sandy beach ahead of them. As they swam harder to reach salvation, Josh looked back and saw an explosion behind them. It was one of the plane engines.
When they reached the beach, Carrie lied down and Josh stumbled around, fighting the urge to faint.

    1:15p.m.

John looked around at the people on the beach. He counted. He was surprised at the number of survivors, even though it was a horrifying crash.
“Thirty-four.” He looked out into the ocean, searching for anyone who might be swimming towards the beautiful sand. He noticed something floating on the surface of the water. It wasn’t far away from the shore. He swam towards it. It was a body, facedown in the water. He turned it over.
It was a man. His skin was black and blue. He had a gaping hole in his chest. John’s stomach heaved. The man had been stabbed by a pteranodon’s beak. John also noticed that he was the co-pilot of the plane. He moved away from the carcass and swam back to the beach.
John noticed that there was a gnarled fence at the jungle’s edge. It was ripped apart by something. He then walked to the front of the exhausted, panicking passengers.
“Does anyone here know where the hell we are?!” he yelled. A hand soon raised into the air.
“I do,” a man younger than John said.
    “What’s your name?”
    “I’m Billy Brennan.”
    The man walked towards John.
“We are on Isla Nublar, in other words, Jurassic Park,” Billy whispered to John and Josh. They both thought for a moment and then understood.
“Shit. Then we can’t tell everyone yet. What should we do?” John asked. The two had a conversation while Josh and a man named Wyatt Hayes explored the fence. Wyatt saw a small puddle of water in the jungle side of the fence.
    “Wow. Look at those ripples.”
Josh and Wyatt both stared at the puddle as several ripples appeared. They were followed by a thumping sound.
“Uh, Billy? Come here for a second. Billy walked to the puddle. He noticed the ripples and heard the thumping noise.
    “Is this bad?” Josh asked.
