    ~ CHAPTER 14 ~

    The Final Battle

Mr. Fink, Candice, Angela, Brad, Jeff, Jamie, Dillon, and Edward were in the basement when the building started shaking and rumbling. They had just stepped off the stairs into the room, when they were almost knocked to their feet.
"What's going on?" Mr. Fink asked, regaining his balance.
"It feels like something massive hit the school." Edward answered. Then the rumbling stopped.
"Lets find that damn Ouija board." Brad suggested.
Jeff commented, "It has to be somewhere among these empty boxes." They looked and almost the entire basement was covered with boxes, some piled on top of each others, others by themselves.
"Man, this whole place is filled with boxes." Candice complained. "This is gonna be like finding a needle in a damn haystack!" That sense of hope she felt earlier was starting to leave, because she knew that Grim Reaper would get to them before they found the Ouija board.
“Lets be smart about this.” Mr. Fink said, trying to calm her down. “If we all split up and search for it, we'll find it in no time because we'll cover a lot more ground, faster.”
    “Good thinking, Fink.” Jeff agreed.
Suddenly they started hearing voices and they looked in the direction they were coming from. Dillon looked down at his belt and pulled up a walkie_talkie that he had taken from the dead cops before they left.
Dillon reached over and turned up the volume.

Outside, fire trucks were putting out the fire the helicopter made when it crashed into the school. The storm was still raging, and the majority of the water was turning into ice, causing the pumps to get jammed.
Another 3 cops were in a police car watching the fierce snow fall and gather even more. The cops watched the explosion fire being put out by the fire trucks and falling snow.
Cop #1 was talking into the walkie_talkie to Dispatch. "There has been a problem with the helicopter and the snow and winds have picked up dramatically. We won't be able to do anything till the storm lightens up. It's impossible for us to do anything in this blizzard weather. Over."

In the basement, they had all heard what was just said. Dillon slammed the walkie_talkie down and jumped on it with anger, smashing it.
"We'll have more time to search for the Ouija board and Allison." Jeff said.
"Forget this!" Dillon shouted. "I'm getting out while I still can. Our situation keeps getting worse and worse. I don't wanna die in here like Steven and the others. I'm young and wanna live till I'm an old man. See ya guys later...hopefully on the outside of this school and not in a casket." Dillon turned and ran to the staircase and started running up.
Jeff was about to run after him, when Mr. Fink put his arm out in front of him to stop him. "Just let him go, we don’t need him anyway." Mr. Fink said.
"Hopefully he makes it out alive." Jamie stated. They all started going through boxes, looking for the board, everyone going to a different box.

Dillon walked fast down a hall. Soon he got to the office and ran right by. He went up a flight of stairs and up another, on his way to the roof. Suddenly, he felt a big draft blowing, and he was suddenly very cold.
He rounded the corner and saw that part of the school wasn't there anymore, snow blowing into the school!
"What the hell?" he shouted. Suddenly, he was spun around as Grim Reaper's hand clasped his neck!
He held Dillon out over the edge of the school, about to drop him to his doom. Dillon looked down, seeing the ground far below, and then back up at Grim Reaper and spit in his face.
Grim Reaper thrusted out and Dillon was thrown off the side of the building, falling to the ground far below.

A few of cops in snow suits and snow shoes walked over to where Dillon landed in a big human shape hole in the snow. They looked down, and then looked at each other, wondering if the teen was still alive, or if he was dead.
Suddenly a hand reached up from the hole and grabbed the hand of one of the cops. The other cops reached down and helped Dillon up out of the snow, which had broken his fall.
"Are you alright?" Cop #1 asked.
"I think so.” Dillon moaned. His legs and back felt really soar, but it didn’t feel like anything was broken. He turned and looked at the destruction that happened to the school. “What happened to the school?" They had do to shout to be heard over the high winds, which were starting to calm down some.
Cop #2 explained. "Our helicopter was blown right into it when this really strong gust of wind came. It blew people right off their feet!”
Dillon looked around and saw a couple of people, half buried in snow, dead, and as he continued looking, he saw a person impaled on a fence, the piece of wood coming up through their chest.
Cop #3 Followed his gaze "That's what happened to some of the people." What they didn't know, was that the person impaled on the fence spike was Mike's mom.
"Lets get you inside, you're going do to get sick." Cop #3 said.
So the three cops escorted Dillon back to their snowed in car and once in, they turned the heater on, so Dillon could warm up.
"So what's been going on inside the school?" Cop #1 asked.

Everyone was still searching the boxes when Jamie saw a slight movement in one of the dark corners of the basement.
"He's here! He's going to kill us!" Jamie started freaking out. She turned and ran across the room and up the stairs, out of the basement.
Everyone looked at her, and then back to where she had seen the movement and saw a small rat come out of the corner.
"Jamie! It was just a rat!" Edward called up after her. But it was too late, Jamie was gone and she couldn’t hear Edward.

Jamie ran down a hallway and saw what happened to the wall and she also saw the faint glow of the sun starting to rise in the distance. It was a sight she thought that she would never see.
She ran some more, until she got to an area where the school was still intact, and she ran into the first room she saw, which was the Common Room.
A Common Room is a room where kids can hang out. It has benches along the walls, vending machines, pool tables, air hockey, Foozball, Ect.
She ran over to a bench and crawled under it, putting her back right up against the wall. After catching her breath, she realized that the killer never followed her in. Maybe he stayed down to kill the others. She thought. And as long as he didn’t come after her, she didn’t really care. As long as Edward made it out, as well.
Slowly, she left the bench and stood up. She started walking around the dark room, when she stopped and thought she heard other breathing.
She held her breath, but the breathing could still be heard.
Without even thinking about what she was doing, she turned around and Grim Reaper was inches away from her face, his scythe attached to his back.
Jamie screamed and turned and ran. She jumped up onto a pool table and over it, while the killer just flipped it over with his hand, causing it to crash over to it’s side, and then upside down.
As Jamie headed for the door, Grim Reaper reached down and picked up a pool stick that had fallen to the floor.
Jamie was running through the doorway, when Grim Reaper threw the pool stick like a javelin and it went through the back of Jamie’s head and out the front of her face with a sickening crunch.

In the basement, Edward had stopped going through boxes. "I have to go look for her! She could be in danger!"
Jeff tried to talk some sense into him. "Edward, we need you here. Look for her afterwards. That's what I'm doing about Allison. We have to beat this thing first. Then we can look for people while it’s safe."
Mr. Fink walked over. "We checked all the boxes and there's no Ouija board." He sighed.
"Then Mr. Johnson must have moved it." Jeff stated.
"Crap!" Angela shouted. "Where are we going do to look now?"
"Wait!" Jesus yelled from over by a box. "I've found something!" They all looked over and saw Jesus literally bending over into a box.
Suddenly, he bent over too much and fell in. Brad ran over to help Jesus back out.
When Jesus climbed back out, he was holding a Ouija board in one hand and the triangular Palentir in the other. Jeff walked over and patted Jesus on the back.
"Good man, Jesus." He complimented. Jesus started to beam with pride.
Mr. Fink started to go over to the door to see if Jamie was coming back, but before he got to it, it slammed open and Grim Reaper walked in, holding his scythe in both hands.
He saw what Jesus was holding and got furious. He rammed the scythe into Mr. Fink's neck and out the top of his head.
He pulled the scythe out as he continued walking, the teacher's dead body falling to the floor.
"No!" Jesus shouted. He handed the board to Edward and lifted up his Bow he had and loaded it as fast as he could, Grim Reaper walking towards them. He lifted it up and fired the arrow at Grim Reaper but right before it hit him in the face, his free hand reached up faster then they could blink, and snatched it.
"No more games!" Grim Reaper said in a muffled voice. By this point, he was right in front of Jesus, and without even slowing down, he rammed the arrow right into Jesus' eye, who then fell down, dead.
    "Jesus!" Brad shouted.
"Where's Allison?" Jeff asked Grim Reaper, raising his voice, stepping in between Brad and Grim Reaper. Grim Reaper still didn’t slow down. If he kept this up, he was going to walk right into Jeff. Suddenly, right before he did, Grim Reaper disappeared.
"Where'd he go?” Candice wondered out loud. Then, as if in answer, a door to a side room opened and Grim Reaper walked out, holding his scythe blade to Allison's neck. Allison's mouth was taped shut and her hands were tied behind her back.
"Allison!" Jeff shouted. He felt more scared then ever, and he was really concerned for Allison’s safety. One wrong move and she would be killed.
"Give me the board and I'll give you the girl." Grim Reaper ordered in his muffled voice.
"Do it, Edward. Give it to him." Jeff commanded Edward.
    "No way!"
"Do it!" Jeff shouted. He lunged at Edward, who moved out of the way, causing Jeff to fly into a couple of boxes, scattering the contents. Edward knew that this is what Grim Reaper wanted, and he also knew that he had something to do with Jeff acting more violent. Almost as if he was partly controlling him.
Jeff picked up a knife that fell out of the box and ran at Edward again. Candice stuck out her leg and tripped Jeff up and kicked the knife out of his reach when he fell to the floor.
"Jeff," Edward said. "You're my best friend, this is what Grim Reaper wants. He's turning us on each other."
"The Board!" Grim Reaper commanded, stretching out one of his hands.
"Let Allison go first." Edward talked back. Grim Reaper brought the scythe right up against the flesh of Allison's neck. Any closer and it would slice through it.
"Or we could just give you the board first." Edward changed his mind, knowing he was on dangerous territory here.
"Let me do it." Jeff said coldly, standing up.
He snatched the board from Edward and slowly walked towards Grim Reaper. As he did, he put one hand behind his back and passed the palentir to Edward. Jeff got right up to Grim Reaper.
"Pass me the board!" Grim Reaper demanded.
"Ok." Jeff brought it forward, and right as Grim Reaper was going to take it, Jeff threw it over his head and Edward caught it.
A second later, Jeff dropped to the floor, pulling on Allison's waist as he went down, causing her to slip out of Grim Reaper's grasp and down to the floor as well. Once they landed, Jeff swung his foot out and tripped Grim Reaper up.
Jeff helped Allison up quickly and they ran back to the others. Jeff picked up the knife and cut the rope that had Allison's hands tied together. Then he ripped the tape off her mouth and they kissed.
"I love you, Jeff." Allison said as they hugged.
"I love you to." They kissed, and when they were done, Jeff whispered to her, “Love can be found in the strangest of places.”
They smiled at each other as they kissed again.
Edward and Candice were already sitting on the floor, trying to use the Ouija board.
"Go over to Edward, Candice, Angela, and Brad." Jeff told Allison. He couldn’t believe he was about to do this, but he had to. It was his duty.
    "Ok, but what about you?"
"I'm going to buy you guys some time."
    "How?"
“Will I’m putting my faith in God that he’ll give me strength to battle this demon.”
    “That’s reassuring!” Allison said sarcastically.
“What?” Jeff asked. “This guy is from Hell. And if there’s a Hell, there’s a Heaven. There’s gotta be. And if there’s a Heaven, then there’s a God, and if Satan can send one of his minions, then God can give me strength to overcome him. I believe that he’ll help me, even if I die, it would be giving you guys time to get those spirits to get rid of Grim Reaper, and with God’s help, I think I can manage to keep this freak occupied.”
“How are you going to do that?”
"I'm going to kick some ass!"
Allison walked over to the others and Jeff looked at Grim Reaper, who was starting to stand back up.
Jeff walked over to a fire Axe and broke the glass, making the others look over. He reached inside and grabbed the axe, then walked over so he was standing in between Grim Reaper and his friends.
"Let's dance." Jeff whispered to his opponent. Grim Reaper picked up his scythe and walked towards Jeff. Jeff walked towards Grim Reaper.
They looked at each other for a moment, and then raised their weapons at the same time, bringing them forward, and they clanged against each other.

Edward and Angela had their hands on the palentir.
Edward started. "We summon any other spirits that might hear this. We summon you! We summon you! We wish to contact you!"
The palentir moved slightly, and everyone was a bit startled. Edward, Candice, Angela, and Brad smiled, but Allison was too busy watching the duel going on in the other half of the basement, worry in her eyes.
"What is your name?" Edward asked. He looked over and saw Angela glaring at her.
"We don't have time for that." Angela said. "Cancel that. Can you help us get rid of the Grim Reaper?"
The palentir slid up to ‘NO’.

Jeff slammed into the closed furnace, dropping his axe. He had been pushed into it, and he wasn’t expecting do be shoved that hard.
His eyes went wide and then he ducked, a second later, the scythe smashed into the furnace, ripping through it. Jeff picked up the axe and came back up, just as Grim Reaper got his scythe free.
Grim Reaper swung the scythe sideways, and Jeff blocked with the axe. Grim Reaper attacked again and Jeff blocked again. Then Jeff attacked and Grim Reaper blocked. Then Grim Reaper brought his foot up and kicked Jeff, sending him flying back and smashing into more boxes, and falling to the floor.
Jeff brought the axe up just in time, blocking the scythe a couple inches from his face. Jeff struggled with all his strength to keep the scythe back, and at the last second, he rolled onto his side and back up. He swung the axe down on Grim Reaper, but the killer had disappeared.
"Where'd he go?" Jeff asked. He started looking around himself, getting scared that Grim Reaper would appear behind him like what happened to Steven.

Over at the Ouija board, Angela was still asking questions. "Why can't you help us?"
The palentir spelled out ‘NO STRONG ENOHG’.
"Are you trying to say not strong enough?"
The palentir went to ‘YES.’ Then Angela remembered that he read that ghosts couldn’t spell very well.
"Are there other spirits that can help us?" Edward asked.
The palentir went do to ‘YES’.
    "Will they help us?"
The palentir went to ‘YES’. Then it spelled out ‘WILL GET’. The palentir stopped and soon enough started moving again.
"Are you one of the stronger spirits that can help us?" Angela asked.
The palentir went to ‘YES’. Then spelled out ‘ALL OF US’. Edward, Angela, Candice, and Brad looked at each other. Did that mean that there was going to be more then one?

Jeff was still looking around frantically when Brad ran over.
    "Where'd he go?" Brad asked.
"I don't know. I was fighting him and he disappeared." They looked over and saw a shimmer over by the people using the Ouija board, but it soon left.
    "Was that him?" Brad asked.
"Yeah." Jeff answered. “I think it was.”
    "Why couldn't he appear there?"
"They must be talking to the other spirits. He must be weak when they’re around."
    "Oh."
Then Grim Reaper appeared between Jeff and Brad and swung his arm up, sending Jeff flying back, and then he swung his scythe sideways, digging it into Brad's side. Brad's eyes went wide and Grim Reaper pulled the scythe out.
Brad stumbled, and fell down, and soon stopped breathing.
"No!" Jeff shouted. He jumped back up and charged. Grim Reaper whipped around and blocked the axe with his scythe. Then, when Jeff raised the axe again, Grim Reaper brought his scythe down.
Jeff jumped back, causing the scythe to miss, and brought his axe down on the handle of the scythe, which was made of wood, braking it in half!

At the Ouija board, they were still asking questions.
"We need your help now!" Angela said, impatiently, glancing quickly at the fight, then back at the board.
The palentir counted down through the numbers, starting at 10. Once it got to 1, it stopped. Then a second later, it went back up to 10 and counted down again. Then it did it again.
"What the hell?" Edward asked. “Is it broken or something?”
Allison turned to look and saw what was happening. "More then one spirit is leaving."
"So far three, by the looks of it." Candice said. They turned and watched the fight between Grim Reaper and Jeff as the spirits did what they had to, to get out.

Jeff smiled as Grim Reaper threw down both pieces of his broken scythe. Grim Reaper reached up and broke a pipe loose from the roof, causing water to rain down on the two, soaking them.
    "Come on!" Jeff shouted.
Jeff got ready to block this attack, but Grim Reaper rammed the piece of pipe forward, but higher then Jeff expected, and then brought it down with so much force, it knocked the axe from Jeff's hands.
Jeff looked down and then back up just in time to see the pipe come flying forward and he didn’t have enough time to dodge, so it dug into his chest.
"Jeff!!!!" Allison screamed as she saw what happened from her spot.
Jeff looked back up as blood started to trickle from his mouth. All he could think of was, I’m sorry Allison. And I love you. And the words Love can be found in the strangest of places. Flashed through his mind, but he couldn’t speak any of those.
He stumbled and fell to the floor, and like Brad, his breathing slowed, then stopped.
Grim Reaper looked back up. He started moving towards the group and Ouija board. Now he meant business. But after he took two steps, he felt a small tug on one of his sides and he stopped. Then he felt another on his other side.

From their spot, Angela, Edward, Allison, and Candice saw the outlines of two figures under the water being poured down from the broken pipe. They were completely invisible, except for their outlines in the water.
There was one on each side of Grim Reaper, trying to drag him towards the board, with difficulty. He was resisting and winning.
"They can't do to it!" Candice exclaimed, worried.
"But weren’t there three ghosts?" Edward asked. “I only see two.”
Then suddenly, the outline of the third one was seen flying behind of Grim Reaper. It rammed him in the back and sent him flying forward. Once they were all out of the way of the falling water, the three people couldn't see the three ghosts, but saw Grim Reaper, being dragged towards the board. Towards them. Grim Reaper was flying forwards, obviously the three ghosts flying in the air, carrying him.
The three teens stood up and backed away from the board as Grim Reaper was dragged towards it.
"Nooooo!" Grim Reaper shouted. “I'll be back!"
    "Oh Shut up!" Edward said.
Grim Reaper was then literally sucked into the board, getting smaller and smaller. Just as he was completely consumed inside, one of his hands reached out of the board, full size, and grabbed the edge of it, but something was pulling on his fingers, making them let go.
His hand then got sucked into the board and a second later, all was quiet. Well, except for Allison's crying.
"It's over. It really is." Angela announced, not really sure to believe if it was. All day and night, whenever they thought it was over, it wasn’t. Was it really over this time?
Then the board started shaking violently, as if something was trying to escape. The palentir flew across the board to the number 10, and started counting down, picking up speed as it did. Then, right as it was about to touch 1, Edward swung his foot out and sent the palentir flying across the room.
The board shook violently some more, but soon stopped, and it was calm again.
Edward and Candice put their arms around the crying Allison, and Angela walked next to them as they walked up the stairs onto the first floor, no one saying anything. What was there to say?
As they walked down the hall, they looked outside and saw that the second blizzard had stopped and the sun was shining brightly. It was hard to think that just twenty-four hours before, they were still sleeping, and in an hour or so was going to be waking up to get ready to go to school. So much has happened in the last twenty-four hours, it was hard to handle it all.
"Kids!" A voice called out. The teens all jumped and screamed as they whipped around. They soon sighed when they saw a bunch of swat team men in the hall, masks over their heads and guns pointed out.
"What's the situation?" The leader asked.
Edward answered. "We're the only survivors. Situation? It's over. The terror is over."
"Good." Said a familiar voice. Soon, another person pushed his way through and walked up in front of the swat team. To their surprise, it was Dillon! He had come back for them. He wasn’t the coward that they thought he was.
"I came in with them to show where you guys were." Dillon explained.
"Dillon!" Edward shouted. "You're not a coward after all!"
They took turns hugging Dillon. When Allison hugged him, he saw the tears in her eyes, and saw that her eyes were really red. "Jeff's dead?" He whispered to her, in question.
Allison nodded, still crying, and still hugging Dillon.
    "I'm so sorry."
Allison’s arms tightened around Dillon and she cried harder.
