JP: Rivals of the Raptors

It was a fine summer day on the island. My pack was camping out on the southern shore. I liked it here because it was secluded. The trees and the sound of the ocean, it was a literal paradise. But foremost, the humans couldn't reach it by walking or driving.
My mate, Speed, was lying in the sun, soaking up the rays, as usual. He was so lazy at this time of day. Never out hunting for me. I really needed the support now. The mating season was just over a short time ago, and I was looking to nest soon.
But today, most of the pack was on edge. Something was bothering us. I couldn't tell what it was though. But, I wouldn't let it ruin paradise for us. But in one instant, the Humans burst through the surf, taking most of the pack by suprise. They were riding one of their boats.
Before anyone could react, I felt a twinge of pain. Looking down, I saw a dart sticking out of my leg. My expression turned from one of happiness to pure fear. The pack scattered. We all ran into the forest where we were strongest.
See, we were an odd pack. Most of us were an original brood of seven. The rest joined after we took over the island from the humans. Since we lived in the forest, we adapted to climbing trees, and attacking from above.
But before I could reach the forest, my leg started to give out. i fell to the ground, unable to move, and very sleepy. Speed ran back to defend his fallen mate. But they humans dropped him with a taser. That's the last thing I saw before nodding off.
