Warpath: Jurassic Park 4 (Rewriten) Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Maiasaur Nest
The jungle that surrounded them was hot. Almost like the forest, but
no rain to be seen. The plant- life was enormous. They looked at the two jeeps that were a wreck. They had been destroyed during the night.
Malcolm sat down on a tree trunk.
"This heat is killing me," Malcolm said wiping sweet from his brow. "I don't know about you all but I'm taking a break.
"That's what you get for wearing black," Grant implied laughing.
"Funny," Malcolm replied.
"I'd like to know what destroyed the jeeps," Thorne commanded angry about what happened to his wonderful vehicles.
"There was a huge animal outside the tent last night," Grant replied. "I didn't want to scare anyone. I think that animal did it."
Wu got out a canteen and drunk from it. He suddenly
got startled when a lizard and bird-like creature jumped out at him.
Wu screamed. The animal started crawling all over his body and bit into his noise. Thorne ran over and knocked the animal into the foliage.
"Crap, Wu said. "What was that?"
"Good question," Levine replied.
The dinosaur had stood up-right and was four feet tall with a long neck and snout.
"It's was a Procompsognathus," Grant replied.
"A what," Thorne asked angerily.
"Procompsognathus, a high-speed cheetah-like hunter," Vito implied. "Some scientists think it is a scavenger. But the way it just attacked you, I'm having second thoughts."
"Me too," Levine replied.
The dinosaur ran off in the brush and chirped as it went.
"You're right, it is fast," Thorne said nodding at the kid. He did know his stuff, that much was true.
"Ok, I think we need to start again," Malcolm implied.
"Oh, hold on," Wu said. He pulled out a map of the whole island out of his pocket and lays it on a rock. "Now, if I'm right, I should say we are very close to the Visitor's Center."
"Um, Henry you used to work on this island," Malcolm said. "Shouldn't that mean that you already know where the Visitor's Center is?
"I haven't been here in awhile, but the fact is that this means that Kathy and Dodgson's people might be there," Wu implied.
"I hope so," Thorne said iritated.
Wu put the map back in his pocket. "We might be able to find a communications device to call for help.We'll also have a good chance of being lucky on an attack. Plus we might be able to find some old vehicles that the park used for our transportation needs."
"Henry, you sound like a Ford commercial," Malcolm laughed. "Get it Henry, Ford?"
Everyone laughed at the remark from the mathematician.
A sudden gust of wind and a roar of something that you would probably
hear in a city, only meant that they found the people that they were to bring back to the mainland.
"That sounds like a jeep," Thorne said.
"It's coming from that stream over there," Wu excitedly said pointing. He didn't wanted to be on this island as much as everyone else and that was not at all.
Lewis Dodgson was in the passenger seat of the leading jeep. Howard King was driving and George Baselton was in the back seat.
"Sir, we're about to come up to one of the nests on this sciamatic," Baselton said looking at the map.
"Good," Dodgson said smiling. "Stop the car, Howard."
Kig stoppd the car. He turned around in his seat to face Dodgson. "Which species are we coming to?"
"It doesn't matter," Dodgson replied. "It will be the same for all species of the dinosaurs on this island. You saw that suchomimus back up from us when I turned that box on. I still think we should've followed the sucho. He might've led us back to it's nest. Well, let's go everyone. George, bring the box."
"Sure Lew," Baselton replied grabing the box from beside him.
Everyone in the jeep got out and started slowly walking toward the foliage. They came around the corner saw a group of Maiasaura.
"Perfect," Dodgson said looking at the stupid animals in their nest. "This is going to be easy. George, hand me the box."
Baselton handed him the box and Dodgson pushed a button and suddenly the quiet island became very loud with the screaching of the box.
"Go," Dodgson ordered. "Now!"
King, Baselton, and James stepped into the nest and walked toward the Maiasaur eggs. The three men took one egg each and ran back toward the vehicles. Everyone else got back into the vehicles and started back toward the main road.
The Maiasaurs start shaking their heads getting the dreaded sounds to leave their ears. They then roar a deafening roar and started running after the robbers of their eggs.
Grant and the others came out of the jungle. They saw two jeeps driving in the same direction as one of them stopped right in front of Vito and Matt. The other one stopped as well. Lewis Dodgson could be seen coming out of the jeep.
"Ha, Dr. Grant, Dr. Grant, it seems that InGen doesn't want us here," Dodgson said laughing.
"I came for my own behalf," Grant replied angerily.
"Suit yourself," Dodgson said. "Oh, and hey Dr. Levine, say hi to Kathy for me. I hear she's somewhere on this island."
Levine leaped forward and grabed Dodgson on the shoulders.
"Hey, get your damn hands off me," Dodgson ordered.
"You get your group off this island or I will literally and personally
kill you myself," Levine ordered in return.
"Get your hands off ," Dodgson was cut off by a loud sound.
Levine heard a rumble and so did Dodgson. They both turned around as the family of Maiasaurs come rampaging down right towards them. Vito and Matt
could see the other jeep turning around and starting off in the opposite direction as they were being chased.
"Come on everyone into the jeeps," Thorne yelled.
Levine carried Matt and lain him in the back as Vito jumped in the back with him. Malcolm jumped into the front seat. Dodgson started to run and he jumped into the other jeep. Grant reved it and sped off.
"Why are you here Lewis, and you better answer me," Grant commanded.
The Maiasaurs all stampeding forward. From out of no where an adult Tyrannosaurus Rex came crashing out of the foliage and started running after the Maiasaurs. The lead Maiasaur stopped and started fighting with the Rex. The Rex bit into the Maias neck as the animal rammed into the Rex's body. Finally the Rex was able to bring the Maiasaur down and he started feasting. As the jeeps got closer to the Visitor Center the other Maiasaurs slowed down and eventually stopped because this territory didn't belong to them. It belonged to something much much worse.
