Malcolm Effect: Jurassic Park 3 Part 5
    By Vito Hardy

    MALCOLM
“It’s dead…no need to be alarmed.”

    Paul starts moving.

    PAUL
    “Eh…uhh…”

    MALCOLM
    “Paul, can you hear me?”

    PAUL
    "Yeah….”

    BILLY
    “Are you okay?”

    PAUL
    “I think so…my head hurts though. I don’t think I can run.”

    AMANDA
    “Thank God you are okay….”

    PAUL
    “Thanks…”

Then, a Tyrannosaurus Rex head comes up from the carcass.

    MALCOLM
    “Nobody…move…a muscle.”

The rest of the group runs away. Grant then follows. The Rex chases them…right into the other animal. The big one. They start to fight each other. The fight goes on for about two minutes. The group watches in awe as the two behemoths fight like crazy. Finally, the bigger animal pins down the Rex, and breaks the Rexs’ neck. The group runs off while the creature eats on the Rex. They run a ways off, far enough from the bigger animal. They stop in a clear spot in the jungle. They all try to catch their breath.

Paul falls to the ground after a loud thud. Malcolm pops his knuckles, and Amanda steps in.

    AMANDA
    “Please…please…just stop…”

    MALCOLM
“You have a lot of explaining to do, Mr. Kirby.”

    PAUL
    “Let me, please…”

Malcolm and Levine hover above Paul, and Billy helps Amanda over to a tree to rest.

    PAUL
“About two days ago…my son…and her fiancé went paragliding over this island…we got a signal from them…and we haven’t heard from them since…”

    MALCOLM
    “How old is your son?”

    PAUL
    “He’s fourteen.”

    MALCOLM
“Then he’s probably dead Mr. Kirby.”

    AMANDA
    “No!”

    MALCOLM
“Amanda…Um, calm down. You must realize what is on this island…”

    AMANDA
“We know what is on this island. Its name is Eric, and he’s alive.”

    PAUL
“We know he’s alive. Doctors, I understand your fury, and I can say nothing to make you forgive me, and I realize that.”

    AMANDA
“But Dr. Malcolm…our son and my fiancé are here somewhere…alive.”

    PAUL
“And we couldn’t get the military…the government…no one seemed to care. So we took this into our own hands. All we want to do is rescue the two, and leave, no questions asked.”

    MALCOLM
“If you only knew the danger we are in right now, you would have brought more than us. And even still, it wouldn’t help.”

    PAUL
“Better than living without my son. Our…our son.”

    AMANDA
“I’d rather die here than know that my Eric is gone.”

    MALCOLM
“Well that is probably going to be what happens.”

    BILLY
    “Let’s head for the coast.”

    MALCOLM
“Good idea. Maybe we should look around here a little while…may as well help them look for that boy while we are here.”

    PAUL
    “Thank you, Dr. -“

    MALCOLM
    “Shut up.”

    PAUL
    “Okay.”

    UDESKY
    “Which way is the coast?”

Malcolm points a finger back toward the plane wreckage.

    MALCOLM
“We’ll go there; I saw a small creek. Probably leads to a river, which will lead to the shore.”

    LEVINE
“We should head back to the plane and look for things we can use.”

    PAUL
“Amanda and I aren’t leaving until we find our son.”

    MALCOLM
“Well you can go look for him, or follow us. Either way…we probably aren’t getting off this island alive.”

A loud moan comes from deeper within the jungle.

    AMANDA
    “Ben!! Eric!!”

    PAUL
    “Amanda don’t yell…”

    MALCOLM
“Udesky, Billy watch the Kirby’s. Richard and I will check it out.”

    UDESKY
    “Sure, I guess…”

    PAUL
    “No! We are coming.”

    MALCOLM
“Trust me, you probably don’t want to.”

    AMANDA
    “But…”

    LEVINE
    “We’ll be back.”

    Malcolm and Levine walk off.

    PAUL
“Maybe hiring them wasn’t such a good idea after all…”

    AMANDA
    “Maybe.”

Malcolm and Levine quietly run through the thick brush, toward where they think the moan is coming from.

    LEVINE
    “Ian…”

    MALCOLM
    “Yeah Richard?”

    LEVINE
“Um, You don’t think we’ll find any dead kids do you?”

    MALCOLM
“Let’s hope not…as much as I hate that Paul guy…”

    LEVINE
    “Look up Ian!”

Levine points about seven feet up into a tree. It’s Ben, hanging on his parasail.

    MALCOLM
    “Are you okay??”

    LEVINE
“We are here to rescue you! Say something!”

    MALCOLM
    “Richard STOP.”

    LEVINE
    “What…?”

    MALCOLM
“I think we are in very deep trouble.”

    LEVINE
    “You don’t think…”

    MALCOLM
    “Stand very still.”

The two men stand there, waiting to hear something…but nothing.

    MALCOLM
" Richard when I say to, head for that tree. And I mean run. I will do the same. You go up the left and I’ll go up the right side.”

    LEVINE
    “Okay…just say when.”

    MALCOLM
    “One…two…GO!”

Malcolm and Levine make a mad dash toward the tree. About halfway up, an animal jumps out of the brush, and leaps at Malcolm's leg. It bites Malcolm's leg, but he manages to kick it off and climb out of harm’s way.

    MALCOLM
    “I knew it…”

    LEVINE
    “Mm…your leg…”

    MALCOLM
    “It’s okay…"

    LEVINE
    "Raptors aren’t usually very forgiving…”

    MALCOLM
    “That was a raptor”

    LEVINE
    “Didn’t you see?”

    MALCOLM
“Well no, saving my leg was more important…what type was it?”

    LEVINE
"Oh, the usual. An ugly killing machine that will do anything for a meal…”

    BEN
    “Mm…”

    MALCOLM
    “Are you okay sir?”

    LEVINE
    “It’s a grown man…Amanda’s fiancé.”

    BEN
    “A…Amanda…”

    LEVINE
    “Told ya.”

    MALCOLM
    “Hang in there Mr. Hildebrand.”

    BEN
    “Th…thanks…”

    LEVINE
    “Where is Eric?”

    BEN
    “Eric…he…he’s gone…”

    MALCOLM
    “Damn…”

    BEM
    No, no…he left here…”

    MALCOLM
    “Oh, thank God…”

    BEN
“We crashed in this canopy, and Eric’s preserver allowed him to escape…my preserver is on wrong or something. Something happened on the boat. I told him to go…”

    LEVINE
    “Just hang in there…”

    BEN
“I’m so hungry…I-I can barely think straight.”

    MALCOLM
“Ben…you’ve been hanging here for a whole weekend…how are you alive?”

    BEN
“Well, it rained, and I pulled one of these coconuts here off the tree…thank God we landed where we did…my legs are both numb from my blood circulation being cut off…”

    LEVINE
    “Wow…”

    MALCOLM
“How long would it be until your legs became operational again, if you will…”

    BEN
    “Oh, I don’t know…”

    LEVINE
    “Okay, let’s get him down…”

But before Malcolm and Levine got over to Ben’s position, a full grown Dilophosaurus, about five feet tall, leaps up to Ben’s legs and pulls him down out of the tree. Levine starts to jump down after him.

    MALCOLM
    “Richard stay put!”

    LEVINE
    “We’ve got to help him!”

    MALCOLM
“Richard, you know better then to act like this."

    LEVINE
“Yeah, I don't know what came over me.”

The Dilophosaurus takes its claws and rips Ben’s stomach open. Ben’s body starts twitching, and the animal bites his head until crushed. Malcolm and Levine watch in terror as the animal then proceeds to pull his body apart.

    MALCOLM
    “See…you didn’t want to go down there…”

    LEVINE
“I think…I may, throw up. I've never seen killing up close.”

    MALCOLM
“I have a feeling that while we are here, we will see much worse.”

Malcolm and Levine dare not move from the tree. But then, we hear Amanda’s high-pitched voice in the distance, screaming out Malcolm and Levine's names. The Dilophosaurus looks up away from its victim, and heads toward Amanda’s voice.
