    INTRODUCTION:

    A MYSTERY IN THE CONGO

A long time ago, on an island far far away, a man named John Hammond created what everyone knew today to be the place called Jurassic Park, where scientists cloned dinosaurs from DNA trapped in ancient remains of amber with mosquitos that were trapped inside the amber for hundreds of millions of years. Did this really happen? People like Dr. Alan Grant, a Paleontologist from Montana, and Dr. Richard Levine, a Paleontologist from Berkely have told several stories about the islands of death. One being Isla Nublar where the showcase for Jurassic Park was set up. The second being a part of Las Cinco Muertas or in English The Five Deaths. This island was called Isla Sorna or The second site for InGen, the bioengineering company that created these prehistoric animals.
80 million years was a long time. Simply put, DNA does not last that long. At least, that’s what real scientists thought. Ones that didn't ever work for InGen.
In 1992 Dr. Raul Cano extracted DNA from ancient amber, just like what the scientist of Jurassic Park did. 2 years later, in a 1,800-foot-deep coal mine near Provo, Utah, Dr. Scott Woodward found DNA molecules on what was suspected to be dinosaur bones. One thing was for sure: the DNA matched no known animal. However, these molecules only produced nine readable sequences from a single strand of DNA for a particular gene.
A clone couldn't be created from such a small amount of information. DNA was too unstable and too easy to contaminate. This was especially true of extinct, ancient animals like dinosaurs, as there were already very little biological information about them.
The fact was that no scientists could ever possibably believe that Jurassic Park did happen, or that the novel that Dr. Ian Malcolm wrote three years ago explaining the whole Jurassic Park story as being fact and only fiction. Malcolm was said as being a lunatic for what he wrote about. All of the Chaos factors and horrors of death from these so called monsters that surrounded the islands near Costa Rica.
On top of that, some scientists believed that the DNA found in ancient bones and eggs wasn’t that of a dinosaur, but just pollutants. So until scientists have the ability to better recognize and harvest DNA, and until they can clone dead cells, there will be no modern dinosaurs. And it will most likely stay that way for a long time.
This was the facts that has been stated by all scientists of the real world, not the InGen world that has nothing to do with anything. The InGen story was thereby closed to discussion and never brought up again by anyone formally involved in that company, had went to the islands, or were involved with the Biosyn Corporation of Palo Alto California.
That was untill late 2001, when several accidents were reported in the Congo region of Zaire near Bokambu and Irian Jaya, where several pygmies of large animals had been reported seen back in 1992. These incidents were reported as maulings with large numbers of dead found. These incidents were just more troubling factors that faced the Congo along with the mystery of the Lost City of Zinj that appeared at the time to be inhabited by killer white gorillas. That mystery came to a close thanks to Dr. Peter Elliot of the Department of Zoology and Dr. Karen Ross, formally of Earth Resources Technology Services Inc. Those two people were able to stop the plague of these monsters and turn the Congo back into a normal everyday area.
However, this new threat has been determined to not have been caused by Gorilla attacks, but as one local called them "Monsters from another time". The locals of these areas however have known to overexagerate things in the past, but one american lawyer had finally decided not to ignore this new information and check it out for himself. This was his story.

    PROLOGUE:

    MONSTERS FROM ANOTHER TIME

In the darkness of the evening sky the Congo region of Zaire was calm with a short breeze blowing through the trees giving a feel of calmness to Vito McMillan. Vito was taking a vacation in the Congo to explore the beautiful forests to get a better experiance of everthing. Vito snickered. That was bullshit. The real reason he was there was because his stupid father had made him go visit his Aunt Angelita Castelo for the week and this was his first time to finally get away from her the whole trip and spend time with the one person he went on this trip with.
Vito's best friend Travis Elliot was walking beside him as the two moved through the jungles. Travis had came along because this was his first chance to be with his best friend sence Vito had started going out with his girlfriend Lauren. Just the thought of that girl gave Travis shivers. Vito was hardly ever around him anymore because of that girl and he hated every minute of it. That's why he'd came along with Vito went he'd found out that his best friend was going to Africa for a whole week. Travis didn't care about meeting people or seeing the sights. All he wanted to do was spend time with Vito and this was so far his first chance to do so sence they'd arrived. That stupid Aunt of Vito's had been keeping them from doing anything for the past three days and it was just too much for both of them. So they'd finally decided to run off for a few hours. Angelita wouldn't miss them. She had an attention disorder and probably wouldn't realize that she was being robed if someone actually wanted any of the trash that the woman had. She was a complete slob.
The two boys suddenly exited the forest area, entering into a large clearing that was just spectatualar. The view was amazing. There was yellow grass for miles and a beautiful mountain in the distance.
"This is just beautiful man," Vito said smiling while he looked out at the suroundings.
"Yeah man," Travis said. "I'm just glad that you brought me along. Untill now though we haven't been able to be alone and away from your Aunt." Travis shivered again at the thought of that horrid woman. He thought she was more scary then Michael Myers.
Vito snickers. "I'm glad I brought you along too man. I needed some time away from Lauren."
Travis rolled his eyes at remembering the girl that he despised.
Suddenly a low purring sound was heard in the distance. This purring was nothing that neither boy had ever heard of before. It was definetely nothing that would be made by a member of the cat family. Then the boys heard a loud ear spliting roar that seemed very close.
"I think we better get back to your Aunts man," Travis said. The boy turned around to start back in the other direction only to see a horrifying animal standing right before him. It stood six feet tall with long forarms, sharp teeth, and long curving claws on both feet. The animal was colored brown with what looked like black strips that maybe a tiger would have.
Travis screamed and started running backwards. Vito turned around to see what was wrong with his friend to only see the animal jump right on him ripping through the boys body with it's claws. Vito screamed and started running in the other direction away from the monsterous animal. He ran faster and faster moving closer to the foliage where he hoped he could climb a tree to safety. However he soon felt himself falling with a terrible weight on his back. He looked up to see the monster ontop of him with it's claws piercing his skin. Vito screamed as the animal riped at his head and eventually riped it clean off his head and then darkness fell over the Congo as the animal feasted with others of it's same species coming out of the foliage to join in the feast.

    STILL ALIVE AND KICKING

The law offices of Cowen, Swain, and Ross in San Francisco was shinning in the bright sun on a lovely, but breezy day. A dark figure stepped into the building wearing a suit and tie. He stood 5'11 and had an area of balding appearing on his head. He walked foward into a lone room at the back of the building with the words Daniel Ross on the glass of the door.
The man walked into the room only to see Daniel Ross sitting at his desk looking at some papers. Ross looked up from his papers and smiled. He stood and walked to the man extending a hand to shake.
"Welcome back, Donald. I'm glad you're finally over the diesease that almost took your life. Dysentery is a very dangerous illness. I'm so glad that you are a survivor," Ross said shaking his hand.
"Cut the crap, Daniel," Donald Gennaro ordered. "You know good and well that the InGen case is not solved. We have gotten rid of Isla Sorna yes. However we still have those problems in the Congo. This new threat could possibly be a cause of InGen's mistakes. I have to get a team together to check it out."
Donald Gennaro, 41 years old, and long time lawyer at Cowen, Swain, and Ross came across a deadly illness not to long ago while on a buisiness trip to Kenya. Gennaro remembered it well. He was sitting on a helocopter beside his good friend Robert Muldoon when he all of a sudden became fatigued. Gennaro was presumed dead after what had happened because he was kept in a hospital in Kenya for years trying to recover. Muldoon was ofcourse with him for awhile, but had to leave to help a man that Gennaro knew well as being Peter Ludlow, the nephew of John Hammond. Gennaro snickered at the fact of remembering the one man that almost caused Gennaro to die faster then he wanted. Gennaro had always wanted to live a long life and that was almost cut short when he went to Isla Nublar. Ever sense then Gennaro has done nothing but think about how he was going to finally get rid of all of those animals. He was close to being able to do so, but after he caught the aweful illness that almost claimed his life it took him away from doing so and several more people ended up dead because of two expeditions that were sent to Isla Sorna by the Biosyn Corporation. The first was made by Lewis Dodgson. Ian Malcolm was however able to stop Dodgson from completing his plan which Gennaro thanked his good friend for. Then four years ago in 1997 Jeff Rossiter desided to try again at getting the dinosaurs, but Alan Grant and Muldoon were able to stop him. After all of that Rossiter's son Matt Rossiter desided to close Biosyn permantly ending that problem.
Now Gennaro was back and ready to take action to stop this threat that had caused so much death, and he'd do anything to destroy the animals that Hammond made all those years ago.
"Okay, Donald, I get your point," Ross said putting up his hands in defense. "Don't worry. I have everything taken care of. You'll leave in two hours to go talk to a woman named Dr. Karen Ross, formally of Earth Resources Technology Services, Inc. She was one of the people that went on that expedition several years ago to stop the white gorillas that were killing other members of her company's expedition teams. You'll have to be careful with her. She's became a cynical in her past few years, and not the same beauty stricks her anymore. I really don't see what your worries are though. InGen has been bankrupt for years and Jeff Rossiter of Biosyn is dead now so I really don't see why this is so important to you, but if you want to do it then so be it."
Ross went over to his desk and took four small piece of paper out of a small box on the top. He turned around and handed them to Gennaro.
"Here's four tickets for you,and whomever you may invite to go with you on this expedition," Ross said. "I hope that you and your team enjoy your stay in Africa. I also want you to know that if you are unsucessful in this attempt that this is your last chance and getting rid of these animals. Good luck."
"I'm going to need it, Daniel. Beleive me when I say that I'm going to need it," Gennaro said. He then turned around and walked out of the office with his head held high

Donald Gennaro walked out of the offices back into the sunlight of the day. He smelled the warm salty air and continued walking off to his brand new Fariari. He quickly began dialing a phone number on his cell phone. The dial tone and ringing went through the phone as there was a clicking with the phone picking up.
"Hello, this is the office of Donald Gennaro," a woman said through the phone. "This is his secretary speaking, how may I help you?"
"Kathy," Gennaro replied into the phone. "It's me, Donald. I'm returning the office now. The meeting was a success. Please have some things ready for my departure. I'm going to the Congo."
"Understood sir," Kathy said. "I'll be ready for you."
"Thank you," Gennaro replied. Goodbye." Gennaro hung up and opened his car door. He had to admit to himself that he was very nervous. He never wanted to be forced into going to an area filled with those InGen monsters again. However he now had no choice. He had to find out what was in the Congo and the first thing he had to do was go see Dr. Karen Ross.

    TIMES LONG FORGOTTEN

Donald Gennaro exited his Fariari and walked up a long driveway to a very beautiful house on a back road in San Francisco California. Gennaro sighed as he continued walking toward the front door. He knew that this woman was going to be a very hard case just like Ian Malcolm was when he had to convince him to go to Isla Nublar all those years ago. Dr. Karen Ross was going to be just as hard. She had already survived one trip out into the Congo and he was sure that she would be very objective of going on another one.
Gennaro walked up to the front door and rang the bell hearing a short jingle from the bell's ringing. Gennaro turned around looking at the scenery around the house. It seemed to be a very nice community with several beautiful houses, just like the one he was standing at right then. He saw children at play around the house directly infront of the one he was at. The kids seemed to be playing hide and seek as they ran around looking for hiding places while another stood facing a tree counting with his eyes closed.

Suddenly the door behind him opened with a lovely woman standing there in a bathrob and a towel wraped around her head.
"Yes," the woman said. "What is it?"
"Are you Dr. Karen Ross of Earth Resources Technology Services," Gennaro asked shaking the woman's hand.
"Formally of ERTS actually," Ross replied. "Who might you be?"
"I'm Donald Gennaro of Cowan, Swain, and Daniel Ross," Gennaro replied trying not to confuse the woman with his boss. He wondered weather or not Daniel and this woman were related, but assumed that they weren't.
"Ah, so you're a lawyer," Ross said rolling her eyes. "What do you creeps want this time?"
"Oh, it's nothing like what you think doctor," Gennaro replied shaking his head. "I'm here to give a proposition for a very interesting adventure that I may have for you."
"Well what kind of adventure would that be," Ross asked iritably with her arms crossed while she proped herself on the door frame.
"Well, this could take quite a while to discuss," Gennaro replied. "Do you mind if I come in?"
Ross sighed. "Sure, why not." The woman moved back into the house allowing Gennaro to step inside. The place was a mess, or well at least the living room was. It seemed to be full of pictures of gorillas. Karen Ross when into the kitchen and started making a pot of coffee. "Would you like some coffee Mr. Gennaro?"
"Sure," Gennaro replied. "Thank you." Gennaro continued to look around at the photographs on the wall. Besides gorillas there were other pictures of Ross with a tall man with curly brown hair. "Who was this guy in this picture with you?"
"Oh, that was a friend of mine," Ross replied. "His name was Peter Elliot. He's a primatologist."
"You two look like a nice couple," Gennaro replied.
"Oh, we were never a couple," Ross said. "I asked, but it never worked out. That photo was taken a week before I asked him out. I haven't seen him since then."
Gennaro listened to the words sadely realizing the saddness coming from Dr. Ross' words. He could tell that this was a horrible subjust to her and decided not to say anything else.
Karen Ross walked back in the messy living room with two cups of hot, steaming coffee and handed a cup to Gennaro.
"So tell me Mr. Gennaro," Ross said. "What is the reason for this visit?"
"I would like to discuss you coming with me on an expedition," Gennaro replied smiling as he sat down in a black leather chair to the side of the room.
"What kind of expedition could you possibly ask me to come on that would be of any interest to me," Ross asked. She hoped this guy wasn't one of those idiots wanting to see the great white gorilla. Those bloody things gave her so many nightmares that she'd be rich if she got a dime for each one.
Gennaro smiled. He assumed that this woman was smart, but wanted to try going at this the stupid way. "Actually I've heard that you've been to the Congo before and I was wondering-"
"I know what you want and I can already tell you that I'm not going for it," Ross said angerily.
"No, that's not it at all," Gennaro said. "Have you ever heard of Jurassic Park?"
"I have heard of it yes," Ross replied confused wondering as to what that park would have to do with the Congo. "I've heard that it was some sort of nightmare in Costa Rica that caused several deaths during the dates of 1986, 1992, and 1997 if I remember correctly. I memorize a lot of historical dates. I've always been a history wiz. So what does this Jurassic Park have to do with the Congo?"
Gennaro looked at one of the gorilla pictures behind the woman. This picture was very odd. The animal seemed to be making a hand gesture that looked almost like "Hello" in sign languange. "What was that gorilla called?"
Ross turned around looking at the picture and then turned back around smiling. "Her name was Amy. She was the reason why I was able to get to the Congo with a Primatologist. Peter was taking her back to the Congo after several years of working with her at Berkely. They were teaching her sign language with great success. Peter still misses her. Amy was the main reason why Peter enjoyed life and after she left him things seemed to just change. Mr. Gennaro, you still haven't answered my question as to why that dreaded park has to do with the Congo?"
Gennaro smiled and nodded. "I can see that I'm going to have to explain everything to you. You remind me of a friend of mine. His name is Ian Malcolm. Have you heard of him."
Ross shook her head. "I'm afraid I've never met him, but I have heard that he's very Chaotic I believe the word is."
Gennaro laughed. "That's exactly how he is. What I have to tell you deals with Jurassic Park in a way. It was started by a man named John Hammond and his genetics company InGen. They created genetically engineered dinosaurs from fossilized DNA. Afterwards they put these animals on two islands. They were named Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna. Nublar was the showroom for the tourist to see. Sorna however was larger and was were all of the genetic testing and breeding was done. Later on there was an opening tour that was run by yours truly, and the park proved to dangerous causing several people including Hammond to be killed. That island was destroyed. After that there were two expeditions that ended up on Isla Sorna all thanks to another genetics company called Biosyn. After the second expedition and a little Godzilla action in San Diego, Isla Sorna was finally destroyed. We thought for sure that every one of those animals were gone for good, however we were wrong. It appears that there has been several recent problems in the Congo, near the area where you found the Lost City of Zinj. The reports are of maulings and the people that have saw the killers have discribed them as being "Mosters From Another Time". I have reason to believe that these monsters are the work of John Hammond and the InGen Corporation."
"What does all of this have to do with me," Ross replied with shock from hearing all of this information. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Could this John Hammond have made a dinosaur facility in the Congo? She shock her head. He wouldn't do that after hearing the nightmarish tale that she'd went through. Or had he heard the tale? Perhaps not. However she did wonder why this facility had been abandoned. She feared that those deadly white gorillas still existed in the Congo and that if she went it would be her last mistake.
"You know your way around the region that we're going to," Gennaro replied. "You are the only one that can instruct us through that area."
"What about Peter," Ross asked almost yelling. "He's a primatologist for crying out loud! He's much better then I am!"
Gennaro looked puzzeled. What could this Peter Elliot guy possible give them help in? "Dr. Ross, we don't need a Primatologist. We need you. You know how to work technically equipment, he doesn't. You are a much better leader then he could ever hope to be. And on top of all that you're good at what you do and I need you. Please Dr. Ross help me. There will be a very large sum of money paid directly to you if you do this. It will come streight from our account at Cowan, Swain, and Ross. I got that permission from my boss himself. He wants these monsters out of the way almost as bad as I do. Dr. Ross, I need your help."
Ross pondered on this development silentely not knowing what to say. She finally looked up at Gennaro and sighed. "Alright, I'll do it."
"You won't regreat this Dr. Ross," Gennaro replied smiling. "You've made the right choice." The two got up and walked toward the door. Gennaro turned around as he exited. "I'd like for you to meet me at Guynn National Airport in three hours. We're leaving then. I have two more team members to get onboard. I thank you again for joining the team. See you in three hours."
Karen Ross watched the lawyer jump in his car and start off down the street. She could sudenly feel her body trying to fall out from under her as she felt sick at her stomach.

    TROUBLES IN MECHANICS

The dilophosaur stood eight feet tall with twin crests on it's head. The animal was green and had very sharp teeth. The dilo was searching and hunting something in the clearing from the bushes. There was a small rat in the field walking around looking for food itself. The attack came sudden, the dilo leaped from the bushes right on the rodent and bent down to bit into the animal as it screamed but then stoped as the motor in the dilo began to break down and stop with sparks of electricity going everywhere.
Dr. Hunter Melton stood behind the glass sighing and cursing under his breath. Once again the mechanisims were faulty. He couldn't understand what the problem was. All of the systems checked out with the specialists and the parts were put together correctly. He just couldn't understand what was wrong. His whole team were working non-stop, day through night, and still there was no real solution to the problems that they were facing.
Hunter Melton was a 24 year old Paleontologist just out of college and still was having trouble in getting his own dig site. He had been working at the Montana Musseum for the past few months trying to get in the good graces of the "Main Man" for that long and was still having problems. He was always counting on his apprentice, Billy Brennan was the only person that the man seemed to want to deal with and help and he was still in college for crying out loud! If he didn't already know that the man was married he'd thought that he and Billy had a little something going on during off hours.
Hunter shook that thought away and pushed an entercom button on the keyboard infront of him. "Chelsea, the mechine failed again. Would you please come up here?"
Hunter sighed and pulled his head down placing his arms over it. He couldn't believe what he was being put through. These stupid machines didn't even look like Dilophosaurs, or at least the dilos that he learned about in College. These animals were green for one thing. He'd always imagined that they were a redish brown. However that was the least of the problems. The stupid animal had a colorful fan that would pop out of it's neck and it could fucking spit! Who had ever heard of a spitting dinosaur? The fact was that this machine didn't want to work correctly. His boss would be there in an hour and he still had nothing to show for his work. The reason that he had was always that he didn't know how to work these machines. His boss then made him take night classes so he could understand everything. Hunter had grown to hate his boss and wanted to strangle him every time he'd seen him.
Suddenly Chelsea Bowers stepped into the door rushing up to Hunter to see what the problem was. She began to shake the man back to life. Hunter sat back up and looked at Chelsea sadly. "Is this hell ever going to end?"
Chelsea smiled. "I don't know sir. Don't worry, I'm sure we'll eventually figure all this out."
Hunter stood and went over to the door and began banging his head into it. Chelsea ran over and pulled him away from the door and brought him back over to his chair and sat the man back down. She could see that he was now crying. The man was falling apart right infront of her. This had never happened to Hunter before that she could remember. The man had always had a happy life and it got better everyday, untill he got out of College she had heard from him later. He was married, but yet he'd never told her about it or anything else really. All she'd heard was that he was having a good life with the one he was married to. The odd thing about it was that she had looked up his past history and had found nothing on a Hunter Melton. It was so odd. It was like he'd changed his last name to something else. When she'd confronted him with this info he just laughed and turned away. To this day she barely know anything about him and now he was coming apart.
"I can't take this any more Chelsea," Hunter practically almost screamed. "What does this man want from me? Why do I have to do all of this non-sense that has nothing to do with Paleontology?" Hunter fell onto the floor and weeped even more.
Chelsea sighed. "Would you calm down? The boss will be here any minute. You don't want him to see you like this. Come on and get up."
"You're right," Hunter said catching his breath. "I'm going to the rest room. Warn me when the boss has arived."
"Sure," Chelsea replied as she walked out of the room. Hunter looked back at the mechanical dilophosaur and sighed. What in the world was he going to tell the boss when he arrived. This was all just not working out at all for him and he was so afraid for his future as a Paleontologist.
Suddenly a voice broke over the entercom which sounded like Chelsea's voice. "May I have your attention please," The voice echoed through the building. "Would all personal please report to the front enterance? Dr. Grant and his wife have arrived."
Hunter Melton suddenly felt fear increase in his body as he started for the door as well as nervousness. He was so afraid right now that he didn't know what to do. Dr. Grant would surely kill him for not having the dilo finished. Still, he walked out of the control room and into the hallway toward his destiny.
