TRIUMVIRATE SE Sneak Peek at the Sequel!
    By The Host

What follows is the teaser trailer for Second Triumvirate. This is still in the early stages of development, so much of what you see is subject to change. Oh, and don't expect this story before August.

Space. A million tiny points of light. A darkened starship rests unmoving in the middle of the void. Moments pass; nothing happens. Then, with a deep RUMBLING, a *massive* starship appears overhead, slowly revealing its incredible size and unbelievable complexity. This ship, black and red as hellfire, slowly approaches the disabled vessel before it.

CUT TO a black screen with several concentric green circles. Suddenly the thing BEEPS and a red dot begins flashing.

    OFFICER
    Captain Dawson—

CUT TO the dimly-lit crowded bridge of a starship. An officer in the foreground turns to speak to his captain, sitting several yards away.

    OFFICER (CONT’D)
We’re receiving a distress signal near Al T’Har.

    The captain nods.

    FADE TO BLACK.

    DREAMWORKS SKG LOGO appears.

    DAWSON (V.O.)
Did I ever tell you, Mr Davies—

FADE IN Emperor Dawson, older than when we saw him last, older and frailer, lying in bed, talking to Jack Davies who watches over him.

    DAWSON (CONT’D)
What we found on that vessel?

CUT TO a Untied Ship approaching the dormant vessel that we saw earlier.

CUT TO a young captain Dawson staring out the narrow windows of his starship at the ship they’re approaching.

    DAWSON (CONT'D)
What we found on that vessel-

CUT TO Dawson and several others entering a darkened corridor, beams from their flashlights peering through the blackness.

    DAWSON (CONT’D) (V.O.)
    Brought with it great hope—

CUT TO Dawson entering a doorway and halting in his tracks, amazed.

    DAWSON (CONT’D) (V.O.)
    And terrible fear.

REVERSE ANGLE shows a wide, darkened room strewn with mangled bodies.

    FADE OUT. . .

    THIS SUMMER. . .

FADE IN: Elder Dawson, back in bed, still speaking with Davies.

    DAWSON (CONT’D)
It seems now I have little hope left.

CUT TO a reporter standing in a great park in the middle of a massive city.

    REPORTER
The Emperor is dead. Long live the emperor!

CUT TO Dawson’s body being laid to rest before a great stone mausoleum in that very same park.

    REPORTER (CONT’D) (V.O.)
And now the struggle to replace him has begun in earnest.

CUT TO Exler Joggins speaking to Davies outside the Masoleum.

    JOGGINS
I will see the Republic restored.

    DAVIES
    The Republic was broken.

CUT TO a shot of hundreds of Senators rising and clapping.

    DAVIES (CONT’D) (V.O.)
    The Republic failed.

CUT TO a shot of red-uniformed troops parading through the city.

    DAVIES (CONT’D) (V.O.)
Dawson has placed his trust in me—

CUT TO a shot of a shuttle zooming through the city.

CUT TO a shot of Davies, clothed in splendid robes, emerging from the shuttle, now docked high above the busy trafficways of Magnaplois.

    DAVIES (CONT’D) (V.O.)
To see Imperial glory and power secured.

    FADE OUT

    THE HEROES RETURN

DISSOLVE TO a shot of Hawk Macy kneeling in a glorious hall.

DISSOLVE TO a shot of Steve Jameson and Willem Boyd laughing together.

DISSOLVE TO a shot of Leonard Forsythe staring out from his vantage point on the ground in Magnapolis at the fleets of fighters streaking by overhead.

    FADE OUT.

BUT THE BATTLE FOR HUMANITY. . .

CUT TO A SERIES OF SHOTS:

Fighters swoop down, guns blazing, on a mass of soldiers battling in a vast desert.

Davies steps onto a great balcony overlooking Magnapolis.

A fighter twists and turns through the superstructure of a massive starbase.
Davies runs desperately along a dark corridor splotched with green light.

    JOGGINS (V.O)
    I’ll fight you.

A fleet of starships approaches another.

Jack Davies speaks to Joggins once again outside the mausoleum.

    DAVIES
    I know you will.

    FADE TO BLACK.

    HAS JUST BEGUN

CUT TO a young man standing on the windowed deck of a starship looks over his shoulder, then looks back.

    MAN
    We’ve got company.

CUT TO A SERIES OF SHOTS:

Two land armies meet each other and begin firing at one another.

A fleet of massive starships overwhelms a grouping of much smaller ones, blowing many up.

Soldiers run down a corridor just as there is a shuddering explosion, smoke, and then dozens more soldiers pouring into the corridor from holes just exploded into the walls.

A starfighter careens down a tunnel just as the floor before it begins to lift up, as though to crush the vessel within the tunnel.

    DAWSON (V.O.)
    I've done terrible things.

A frightening cityscape: buildings like twisted thorns reaching to a green sky.

The young man we saw before jumps out of a vessel flying above that terrible city.

A fighter pulls up over the city of Magnapolis as the building below it is ripped by an explosion.

Jack Davies speaks earnestly to Emperor Dawson.

    DAVIES
    So have I.

    CUT TO BLACK.
