During early work on A.I., Spielberg reportedly considered JP's Joseph Mazzello (Tim) to play the lead role. However, by the time the movie got off the drawing board, Mazzello was no longer age-appropriate for the part. (From: jurassiraptor)

    TRIUMVIRATE SE Cast
    By The Host

    Jack Davies

(Edward Norton) Son of Dr. Harold Davies, a gifted neurologist, Jack Davies started life on the right foot. His father instilled within him an appreciation for hard work and a dedication to education, as well as a considerable disdain for politics. When Jack was at the tender age of seven, however, his father was killed in an accident whilst rock climbing. Jack’s mother, a homemaker, searched unsuccessfully many years before finally finding work in a library. During this time, Jack and his mother were forced to leave their easy life on Earth for a much harsher existence in the distant Griffin colony. Jack left home at the age of nineteen and joined the United Fleet, with the intention of saving enough money to go to university and settle down into a profession like his father. He has been in the military now for seven years.

    Admiral Dawson

(Pete Postlethwaite) Little is known about Dawson. He came from a well-bred military family on Earth, and after receiving a Master’s Degree in Philosophy he followed in his father’s footsteps by joining the United Fleet. After a promising first five years he was recruited by the Corporation; fighting for the CEO he quickly worked his way up the ranks, captaining a vessel at 34 and reaching the rank of general at age 40. Eighteen years later he abruptly resigned and rejoined the United Fleet, where he was immediately made Admiral. He has commanded the base at Gauleius now for four years.

    Robert Johnson

(Jude Law) Johnson, too, was born of affluence. His forbears were some of the first adventurers to colonize Griffin centuries ago; his father is one of the colony’s leading businessmen and two of his uncles are heavily involved in United politics (one a Senator, the other Proconsul of Griffin Colony). After graduating the elite Haverwood University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Johnson joined the United Fleets for a four-year tour of duty. He intends to return to school to pursue a degree in law. Most of his friends assume he will one day enter politics, though he hotly denies it. Johnson met Davies when Davies moved to Griffin; they were then both eleven years old. They were close friends for eight years – Davies always just on the fringe of Johnson’s upper-crust clique – and met again when Johnson joined the Fleets.

    Harrison 'Hawk' Macy

(Alessandro Nivola) Hawk Macy was destined to enter the military. Brought up on his uncle’s space station, he was expected to enter the family’s merchant trade. Macy, a rebellious youth, instead left home at sixteen and wandered the Galactic Frontier for three years before joining the United Fleets. A career soldier, he’s been in the Fleets now for eleven years.

    The President

(Kiefer Sutherland) The President was born on a farm and raised as a simple but good-natured youth. He excelled in school through simple hard work and eventually won a scholarship to his local university. After graduating he moved to Magnapolis where he entered the Corporate bureaucracy. He moved his way up the ranks, building for himself a small fortune which he invested in side ventures, for fifteen years. He then entered local politics. With the backing of the Corporation he became a United Senator for a single term at the age of 38; after four years of consolidating his resources and campaigning, he was elected President of the United Star Systems at age 46. He has been President now for four months.

    Admiral Copley

(Michael Gambon) Copley joined the United Fleet fresh out of high school, much to the chagrin of his moneyed family. When he refused to go to university they refused to pass on their inheritance. Within months of his joining the Fleets, however, his parents’ tune changed, and they began using their considerable connexions and financial resources to ensure their son’s success. He was made Admiral at 42, the youngest ever to make so high a rank, and shortly thereafter met Dawson, who was then captain of a Corporate vessel. Copley and Dawson became fast friends. They clearly had a falling-out four years ago; nobody is certain why. Surely they had seen little of each other, as Copley had been commanding the frontier station near Al T’Har for eight years before they parted ways.

    Steve Jameson

(Jake Gyllenhaal) Jameson talks little about his past. His dossier details his father’s alcohol abuse – and wife abuse – and Steve’s run-ins with the law shortly after his parents finally split up. He dropped out of high school four years later, when he was eighteen, and set to work at the Utopian Fleet Yards as his blue-collar father had done before him. He was recruited by the United Fleets after he hacked into the UFY database to modify his salary. After a brief training period he joined the Black Aces at age 20. He’s been with the squadron now for four years.

    Willem Boyd

(Jay Mohr) Boyd entered the military against his will. He was born and raised in Magnaplois, seat of United power, where his father is an elite advertising executive. Willem always seemed to have more interest in visiting the opera and racing expensive speeders than he had in education or advertising. He spent two years after high school living at home doing little to nothing. He was finally given the choice of going to university or joining the Fleets. He chose university. He excelled on the entrance exams but later dropped most of his classes. He was kicked out of the university after three semesters and was told by his father not to come home. He then joined the military and, after just over a year in the fleet, was relocated into the Black Aces. He’s been with the squadron only a few months.

    Holden Getty

(Matt Boudreau) Getty was born in a poor frontier colony. He did well academically but struggled against those around him that persecuted intelligence. There he learned to fight. He finally transferred to a brilliant public school at the age of sixteen and, two years later, was accepted into the United Officer Training Program. Getty completed his degree in engineering whilst training to be an officer. He must now do four years’ service before he can move on. Now in the last year of his mandatory service, at age 26, Getty is unsure what his future plans may hold.

    Hayden Doyle

(Bruce Campbell) Doyle has been in the Fleets as long as he can remember. He was raised in a military household. For him the Fleet is life. He is 42 years old.

    The CEO

(James Rebhorn) The CEO’s past is uncertain. His life is divided evenly between his business, his military, and his God. Typically CEOs work their way up the Corporate ladder; the current Chief Executive, however, was a member of the Corporate Fleet until his late forties. He was then recruited to the corporate side where he was Executive Vice President in charge of Military Affairs. He was elected CEO by Corporate See four years ago at the age of 54. He has closely advised the President ever since.
