    Return to Nublar :Part 6
    By SpinoSlayer

Later that day, Ryan, Carlos, Mark, and the others had agreed to take the river through the dilophosaur paddock to the visitor center.

'I found a boat here!' yelled a scientist. The boat was rusted as hell but it floated and had enough fuel to get them across the island.

The men examined the boat and finally Seth Loman agreed to lead a group of men along the river on foot. It was now after noon and the expedition was well under way. Although they were short three men they still had plenty of firepower. After about another hour the men on front of the twenty-foot pontoon heard noises.

    *cheep* *cheep* *crik* *nayh!*

    'Do you hear that?'

    'They're everywhere.'

'Hey, Seth! Do you hear that?' Ryan yelled to the left side of the river.

'I hear it! They're on the right of the river.' Seth said.

Out of the low foliage emerged a Compsognathus, then another, and another, and another, until there were thirty of them lining the bank.

'Carlos, take the pontoon near the left bank will you.' said Ryan.

    'OK,'

Several men thought it would be funny to take shots at the compys. Before Mark could stop them the men shot three compys.

    'Dead in one shot!'

Now compys have a close family bond with the pack ,so when something attacks the pack the others attack back.

The first wave of angry compys jumped twelve feet to the boat taking the crew completely by surprise. The men pulled out pistols and started shooting at the compys on the deck. Several compys jumped in the air and some were shot like clay pigeons.

They easily killed eight before ten more jumped on board and jumped onto a park worker. The men on board tried to shoot the compys on deck before more could swarm on the man but it was no use.

Carlos, distracted by the action, scrapped the side of the boat on a large log. The pontoon ran right over the log and it acted like an anchor which swung the boat right in to the river bank.

The man with the compys on him fell into the river as did two other men. The two men easily swam ashore and watched as the whole pack of compys jumped down to the sand bar in the middle of the river and just stood there.

Some men, mainly Mark, pulled out a gun and started to shoot at the group of compys. They didn't seem to notice. Just after all the guys on the boat got off they saw the bloody worker reach the sand bar and look up.

All he saw was thirty compys looking at him. All the compys swarmed all over him. Mark looked sick and turned away to barf in some bushes. The small section of the river turned red. None of the men even cared to shoot the compys anymore. They just headed on down the left side of the river.
