Halo: The 4 Arrows ch.6

Skidami was yelling and screaming like mad as he swung uncontrollably at the oncoming enemy. All of a sudden he felt a burning sensation in his left side. He looked down to see a flood parasite trying to burrow into his flesh. He took his laser sythe and cut it apart. It fell to the ground. Then he felt a great sting on his left arm. "AHHHH!" he yelled. A flood soldier had just stabbed his arm with a laser sythe they must've picked up. He started swing madly at it. "Die! Die!!DIE!!!" Over and over again until he couldn't tell what it used to be anymore.
"Skidami! Skidami!Snap out of it!" Yelled a fellow soldier he had seen in the bunker. He was breathing heavily. "It's over man" said the soldier. "The battles over". Skidami looked around. The battle field was covered with bodies. Fortunately they were mostly flood bodies. But several Arrow soldiers had fallen in battle. They formed a search team for survivors. They found atleast 30 out of 67 soldiers still alive. They were immediatly transported to an infirmary. After they were done, Skidami himself went to the infirmary to fix his wounds. His left arm had lost feeling, on account there was a 4 inch hole in the middle of it.
He had to spend a night in surgery as they healed his arm and bandaged his side. Back on the base ship, Dontan was discussing the battle with the other generals. "A wonderful victory! Congratulations Dontan!" exclaimed Gofin. "Yes, i agree, let it be known how strong the army of Arrows is!" said Flak-su.
At 800 hours all soldiers were called to the loading bay in the base. They were leaving the planet to return to the base ship. Most of the wounded had healed, and only 2 had died during the night, but most were back up again, ready to fight. The first two ships loaded up with soldiers and rose into the sky. They disappeared beyond the atmospere. In about 10 minutes they were back. 3 more ships had come with them. 30 minutes later the second to last ship took off. Skidami was going to be on the last ship. The other ships hadn't gotten back yet, so they had to wait another 5 minutes. Everyone was talking about the previous day. Suddenly a heat wave passed over them. They looked up, the ship had been blown apart! Their first thought was the flood had returned. But they saw in the distance, what no one wanted to see, was the biggest sand hurricane they had ever seen. "Everyone into the shelter! Screamed the squad leader. Everyone was running as fast as their legs could carry them. It was about 2 miles away and closing. It would be there in a matter of seconds. They could hear the base creaking from the wind. I hope they built this tough, Skidami thought to himself. They made it into the shelter doorway just as the hurricane started to rip things up. Walls started to cave in. "Close the blast doors!" Someone yelled. The doors sealed just as a steel beam slammed into what would've been the soldiers...If the blast doors weren't shut sooner.
For 8 hours they waited in the room. Food rations were distributed evenly among them. Their were only about 150 of them. Finally they got a radio transmission thruogh after about 6 hours straight of trying. "It must be clearing up if the radio works" muttered a soldier behind Skidami. The Squad leader got up and made an announcement."Base command says that the storm should clear up enough for pick up in about 3 hours. They'll come to get us then." Great, Skidami thought, another 3 hours is all i need with a bleeding side. "I guess we'll just have to make the best of it, huh?."asked Skidami to a soldier beside him. The soldier laughed, "Ha! well isn't that just the biggest load a crap you ever heard!" Worth a try, he thought to himself, worth a try.
