Halo:The 4 Arrows ch.8

...Loading Bay 0600 hours...
Skidami stood facing his men. They were lined up in front of him suited up and ready to go. They were leaving at 0700. They had one hour to rehearse, and to think about the job they were supposed to do. The charges were already loaded onto the transport ship. At 0745, they were told to board the ship, and strap themselves in. "COUNTDOWN TO LAUNCH...10, 9, 8...3, 2, 1, IGNITION!" The engines ingnited and the ship started to rise slowly. Skidami could feel the heavy vibration. This wasn't exactly going to be a high quality ride.
As they entered space, Skidami loked out the window, he saw the battle bridge and inside was Dontan, smiling at him. They made eye contact for a brief second, and it was a look of respect on both their faces for what was about to happen. Most of the ride was silent, except for when the pilot told them they would be approaching the flood frighter in 10 minutes, 0800. Everyone was prepared, they knew who went first, and who went last. Skidami would be first on the ship, and last to leave it, if there was one thing his soldiers knew, it was that their leader was willing to do everything he ordered them to do.
10 minutes later, The frighter came into visual sight."Okay" said Skidami, "Launch pulse disabler." A large hum could be heard, and then, "TSWEEEEEEEW" A giant blue ball was shot from the pulse cannon, and locked on to the frighters rear two engines. It hit them and sent and electric charge through the entire ship, slowing it down immediately. The transport ship caught up to it and maintained a slow speed with it. The docking tunnel extended onto their boarding hatch. When the pilot gave the ok for air pressurization, Skidami opened their hatch. A hiss sounded, and Skidami looked into the tunnel. It was a good 10 feet to their hatch. He began to climb down slowly. When he reached the hatch, he motioned for the 2 next soldiers to come down. When he counted to 3, Skidami blew open the hatch and as he suspected, the flood were waiting with their lasers at the opening. But since he knew this was going to happen, they only opened the hatch and stood away from the opening, letting the flood shoot into nothing. When they stopped, Skidami gave the signal, a soldier threw a plasma down and they shut the hatch quickly, there was a small explosion, and then a thud. They opened the hatch up again and dropped in. With there lasers ready, they waited for the smoke to clear. All 6 flood on the ship were on the ground
"Okay guys, come on down." ordered Skidami. The other 12 soldiers came down 2 at a time. When everyone was on board. They motioned for the pilot up above to go ahead and leave. Skidami shut the hatch and heard the pilot taking off. He assigned the soldier that was supposed to fly the ship to go ahead and start moving again as soon as the disabler wore off. "It should be about 2 more minutes before it wears off sir." informed Rowu, the Daxxona pilot. As soon as they took off, Skidami checked the radar to see how close they were to the fleet. It seemed they had about an hour of flight before they reached it.
**Back on the Arrow Base ship**
"The S.E.A.L.s have boarded the freighter sir." said Wuntox to Dontan. "Thank you" he replied."How long before they reach the fleet?". Wuntox replied, "It appears to be about an hour of light travel to get there sir." Dontan smiled, "Good, just as planned...
**Freighter**
No body talked much during the ride. They mostly just checked and re-checked equipment, and ran through what they were supposed to do in their heads. Skidami could see they were all very nervous. Most of them were all skaking. "Approaching flood fleet sir!" shouted Rawu. "5 minutes until they pick us up on radar." "Thank you for informing me." said Skidami. He told the soldiers, "Okay men, we got about 5 minutes until they pick us up on radar, then about 5 minutes after that until we actually dock. Get ready, and good luck to all of you, you might need it.
**Arrow Base ship**
"How much time left?" asked Dontan. "3 minutes left sir." replied Wuntox
**Freighter**
"1 minute sir!" Skidami replied,"Okay men, this is it. Positions!"
**Arrow Ship**
"Sir! They're deploying as we speak!" said Wuntox. "Pray Wuntox, Pray..."
**Freighter**
"Move!Move!Move!" shouted Skidami as they ran out of the docking doors. It was mostly empty, if you ignored the 50 flood soldiers looking at them. "My god..." whispered Skidami. "Left wall! Quickly! The team shifted left hiding behind objects and crates, at the flood as the flood shot back. "Heads up!"shouted a soldier named Toro. They stopped and waited behind their positions. BOOOM BOOOOOOM BOOM!!!!! It sent off a chain reaction of fire balls and flood flying everywhere. They kept moving while the flood recovered. When they got to the left wall Skidami threw a smoke ball. The flood lost them in the smoke and they went through the doors leading to the east corridor.
**Arrow Ship**
"Sir, they're inside and moving down the east corridor. Towards the cannon room I believe." said Wuntox. "Alright, launch the fleet."
**Mother Ship/East corridor**
"Okay men, my team is going to head for the cannon room first. Rowu, I want your team to go for the starboard engine, Toro take your team to the Port engine. Meet back at this nav. point." Skidami pointed to the cargo area. "Stay covered if you have to wait for us. Good luck." Rawu took his four soldiers and heade off for the starboard engine. Then Toro took his four men and headed for the port engine. Skidami had his four guys and they took off for the cannon room.
**Toro**
"Okay guys, stay close to the wall, I don't want any flood seeing us if they don't have to." said Toro. Yok, the soldier with the heat radar reported, "Sir, we have 3 warm bodies around the corner about 20 meters ahead of us. Looks like 3 flood with weapons." Toro stopped, "Okay, I want them taken out, silently." He pointed to a soldier named Gron-wakuto, they just called him Gron. He knew what to do. He took out a drill bit laser. It wasn't the quickest way to perish, but it would keep them quiet while they were torn apart. What the drill bit laser did was shoot into your throat and tear straight through flesh and bone starting with your vocal cord so you don't scream. Then you were, well figure it out. Gron took careful aim as he fired the sniper at the flood rounding the corner. A canister the size of a baseball landed next to them. Five needle like bullets exploded into the flood's bodies. It entered their necks and began to tear away their throat. They were on the floor in a matter of seconds.
"Well, glad that's over" sighed Gron. "Okay keep moving. Let me know if any more flood show up on radar." said Toro. "Yes sir." replied Yok. "The engine room is about 250 meters from this point." They kept moving quickly but quietly. "I see it" said Toro. They reached the door, "It needs a password" said Yok. "Okay, open it up." said Toro as he pointed to a soldier named Qad. "Yes sir" he replied. Qad took out the codebreaker and plugged it into the lock. In 30 seconds Qad said, "Okay, the password is 98896." Toro punched it in and they heard the mechanics in the door come alive. It opened slowly. The team backed against the wall, out of view of anyone in the room. Toro swept across the doorway to the other wall while checking if anyone was in there. "Okay, it's clear" he said. They moved in and spread out, making a sweep of the area. When they made sure there was no one in it, they went over to the engine computer.
"Plant the charge." ordered Toro. Yok took the charge out of his pack and placed it on the engine computer. He began to punch in the numbers to program it. In 30 seconds he was done. "Okay let's get out." The S.E.A.L.s left the room to head for the rendevouz point.
**Skidami's team**
They had been traveling for 5 minutes now, looking for the main cannon room. They hadn't encountered any flood...yet. "About 50 more meters and then we take a left and walk about 100 meters sir." said Buhg, the soldier in charge of radar. "Wait! 5 flood troops approaching to our right sir!" Skidami looked to the right. "What do you mean, there's no door to the right." he said. Buhg replied,"That's just what the radar says sir." Skidami frowned, "Okay, ever-" But before he could finish his sentence, a door that wasn't there before opened up to their right. "Look out!" shouted Skidami. 5 flood came rushing out with their lasers firing.
Skidami took out his laser scythe and cut apart two flood right in half. The 3 flood left went straight for him. Skidami had nowhere to go. But then all of a sudden all 3 of them fell at his feet. There behind them were his soldiers, they had shot the flood just in time. "Skidami hurry, they're still alive. Lets go!" yelled Fotu, one of the soldiers. They turned to leave, but not before the flood in the head to make sure they wouldn't get back up again...ever.
When they reached the main cannon room, they blasted the door open. 2 flood that were sitting down jumped up in suprise, only to be shot down again right away. "Okay guys, let's do it." said Skidami. The soldier Jut took the charge out of his pack. He placed it on the main cannon controls. He set armed it and set the time for 10 minutes. "Okay, now let's get the hell outta here!" shouted Skidami. They left out the other way towards the cargo bay, hoping the other teams had as much luck as they did.
**Arrow Fleet**
The arrow fleet was approaching the flood fleet fast, they would be there in approx. 7 minutes...
**Rawu's team**
Rawu's team had gotten lost once already and one of the soldiers was wounded in the arm from a flood laser. They had encountered a small group of them when they got lost. But they were going the right way this time fortunately. "How much further?" asked Rawu. "About 50 meters straight ahead, then some stairs and we'll be there." replied a soldier named
Kin-do. "Good" said Rawu. They reached the stairs and looked up. "That's a pretty big stairway." said Uk-pon, the sniper of their group. He was the one that got wounded. The stairway was atleast 100 meters upward. But they could see a large doorway at the top. After climbing the stairs for a couple minutes, they reached the doorway. They blasted the door open and ran inside quickly making a sweep of the area. They went straight for the engine console. After arming the charge, they left to meet the others at the cargo bay.
As they were heading in the direction they were supposed to go, Kin-do yelled,"Sir! Multiple flood units heading our way from behind us!" Rawu had a fear stricken look on his face, "How many exactly?" Kin-do paused for a moment, then replied, "About 20 sir." By then all five of them broke into a run. They turned corner after corner as the flood gained on them. All of a sudden Rawu held up his hand to stop. The floor about 10 feet ahead of them was starting to rise and . Then atleast 10 flood broke out and started to fire rapidly into the soldiers. They took cover behind some pillars and crates. Rawu threw a plasma blast into the mass and blew them apart. "OKAY! Keep moving!" he yelled. But the flood behind them were already coming down the hall on them. "RUN!" As they were running Kin-do expoded inside out in front of Rawu as they were running. He crumpled to the ground. "AHHHH! God help us!" screamed Dront, a first time S.E.A.L. on a misson. "Keep your heads together men and run for it!" commanded Rawu. Uk-pon dropped a plasma charge behind him since he was the last one. He heard an explosion behind him and saw flood parts flying past his head. He looked back. The ones left stopped to eat their former flood.
They ran for several minutes before they ran into the cargo bay and collapsed in exhaustion behind some supply crates, out of view of any enemy. "Rawu! Over here" yelled Toro from across the cargo bay. Rawu sent his team across one at a time. When Rawu made it over to them, Skidami asked where Kin-do was. Rawu shook his head sadly and said,"He didn't make it. He-he was blown apart right in front of me." he said as he wiped away the stains from his hands. "My god..." whispered Toro. "No time to think about it. We have one more thing to do. The arrow fleet is here and fighting in space. There is 1 minute before the main cannon explodes. After that, we'll head for the main core. We're going together this time, no splitting up.
**Arrow Fleet**
The battle in space was horrific, ship after ship on both sides being destroyed. As the Arrow fighters tried to get to the mother ship. Wave after wave of flood was deployed, and destroyed again and again as the Arrows slowly progressed...
**Mother Ship**
"5,4,3,2,1...here it goes" BOOOOM!!!! The explosion was earsplitting as they heard alarms and chain reactions go off. All the flood personel was scrambling to figure out what was happening. "Okay...here it goes. My favorite part..."
