Spielberg made a pretty penny on TLW -- about 17.5 cents for every dollar grossed (15 percent more than his take for the first film).

    Jurassic Park 3 novelization - Chapter 1
    By SeanArcher

    BAD DREAMS

Alan Grant fired at the screeching velociraptor. Ellie tugged him back by his shirt, and he dropped the smoking shotgun to the concrete floor and ran across the wide control room with Ellie and the kids. Alan scanned the room as they raced past the rows of deserted computer stations, trying to get as far away from the raptor as possible. There was no exit in sight.

He heard the velociraptor ramming its muscular body against the window outside. It wouldn't be long before it broke through. Alan saw a construction ladder laying against a wall on the far side of the room and ran for it. Maybe they could move through the air ducts high above the raptors and try to find a way out.

He picked up the ladder from the floor and opened it, hastily positioning it under the ceiling.
Alan and Timmy hurried up the ladder. The velociraptor shreiked from outside.

"Come on Tim, move." Alan said.

Alan lifted a tile in the ceiling and poked his head in and looked around. It was clear. He threw the section to the side and lifted the kids in. Just as Ellie crawled through, there was a loud crash of glass on the other side of the room, and Alan looked up to see the raptor standing on a desk at the other end of the room, looking right back at him.

Alan gasped for breath. He felt his neck tense up and his heart rate accelerate. He feared for his life.

He lifted himself into the duct and kicked the ladder over and dropped the tile into place. They were in a dark and extensive space above the room. Part of it was still under construction. He crawled across the flimsy metal tiles, trying to balance his weight as he moved. The kids and Ellie were already far ahead, heading towards the other end of the space. Grant followed.

He began to have a feeling of Deja Vue, like he had done this all a hundred times before. He heard the Velociraptor moving around and sniffing below. He looked up. The rest were almost out of sight.

There was a noise from behind. Alan felt the world around him become hazy, confusing. He tried moving, but his legs were stiff and aching, not cooperating. He body was numb. His heart was beating. He was terrified. He strained with all of his might just to move an inch.

He looked back towards Ellie and the kids. They were gone.

There were more predatorial noises. The world around him was dark and uncoordinated. Nothing made sense, though he had never been more terrified in his life.

He tried to gain precious distance, though he didn't seem to be going anywhere. He was sweating and panting. He wanted it to end.

The shreiks were much closer now. He didn't look back.

Alan tried getting to safety, but it was hopeless. He was on the edge of crying. His whole body was in pain. He felt like he was going to die.

Just as it couldn't get any worse, the tile beneath him collapsed, and he fell and screamed as everything became blurry.

Alan awoke in his bed, panting and terrified. He let out terrified screams and looked around at his dark surroundings as he began to come to his senses. He felt relief. His body was covered in sweat, his heart racing. He was safe though, alone in his trailer. He took deep breaths and rested his head on his hands as he tried to calm himself down.

He had been having nightmares like this one for years, ever since the incident at Jurassic Park. Ten years had passed. Many things had happened.

Alan layed back in his bed. It was raining outside. Drops of rain hammered the tin roof of his trailer.

He didn't want to think about anything. He just wanted to go back to bed - he had a plane to catch in a few hours.
