Our Future, Our Past (Part 1)
    By JackalRaptor

    It is the year 200300.

Global warming has turned the Earth into a barren desert. There are no such things as dense forest, no such things as polar ice caps, or snow, or pine trees, or grasslands.

    Even humans.

In fact, some might even say this is a backwards world. For roaming the old, battered and boiling surface of the Earth are ancient creatures, creatures who originally walked here millions of years before even the arrival of man.

Dinosaurs. [Bet you saw that one coming!]

But they are not the way we imagined them. They are hardly like reptiles, more like birds, with thin and delicate limbs, and bodies covered in colourful feathers. Their plumage is truly amazing, something we could never have imagined of. But there is something else to these animals that man underestimated.

    Their power.

Why is this world backwards? Because there is no trace of the human race. Hardly any modern mammals. The reign of the dinosaurs has begun again.

But in the midst of all this, just three families still remain. For generations they have braved the heat, dared to outwit the power of the awesome beasts with whom they have shared their home.

And slowly, together, they plan to rebuild their race and defeat the genetically engineered creatures that brought about their downfall. To reintroduce the old technology, but scrap the old mistakes. To teach the next generation the corrections of their mistakes. It seems like an impossible dream. But will perserverance and determination pay off? And will the velociraptors beat them in their race to become the Earth's dominant species...?
