One of the reasons for the failure of a planned JP cartoon was that the creators reportedly only offered Jeff Goldblum $100 for his likeness. Obviously, the actor refused. (From: jurassiraptor)

    Jurassic Park (The Beginning)
    By JPFreak99

John Hammond walked into his 5 star hotel suite. He was on a business trip in England, and was exhausted from the seven hour meeting he'd just been through. He plopped himself on his neatly made bed. He and his fellow employees were working on their newest theme park which was a flea circus. It was his last day in England and he would soon be returning back home to America. But even still he had to work on the flea circus.

Hammond started packing his things to get ready to leave. That was the thing that was bad about his life he thought to himself. Whenever he finally got used to a hotel room and was finally able to get to sleep it was time to leave and go home to work on some other theme park or attraction with, Hammond being 70 years old though in perfect health. He placed the last pair of pants in his suitcase and headed on towards the elevator.

Ron JeyRi waited at the airport for his boss. Seven years now he'd been working for Hammond and they were some of the best years of his life. He and Hammond were friends as kids and as they grew older they started in making parks and attractions. Ron knew that he and Hammond were a great team. Every park they had made together was a big hit. And now that they were building a flea circus he knew that it too will be a hit. He had big plans for it. He was planning to build miniature seasaws, carousels, and just about every other ride you would find at a circus. Of course they would all be electric because it was utterly imppossible to train real fleas. Just then he saw Hammond walk off his plane. Hammond was a short man with white hair and balding. At once he walked over to Ron. "Hello Hammond, how did the meeting go?"said Ron. "It went just nicely."Hammond replied. "Now shall we get started?"
It was two years after Hammond and Ron had gotten started on the flea circus. And as they both thought, it was a hit. Hammond walked through the flea circus and watched the amazement on the parents and childrens faces as they watched the seesaw. He heard them screaming "Look mommy can't you see the fleas!" It was growing dark in the late afternoon and just about time to head on back home. So he stared for the parking lot. When he got into his Luxury sedan he drove off. Even though the circus was big and rolling in the money there was still something bothering Hammond. He could still hear the screams of joy from the kids in his head. All Hammond's life ever since he started making theme parks like the flea circus he still dreammed of something more. Something that tourists could see and touch, and not just amaze them with illusions. Though he had never told any of this to Ron. But now it didn't seem like that was ever going to happen because Hammond grew older every day. He saw his house in the distance and put the thought to rest.

Hammond pulled up to his driveway and got his suitcase out of the trunk. He walked up to the door and unlocked it. He walked up the high steps to his room. Walking up such steep stairs never seemed to bother Hammond not even when he first moved there. He pushed open the door to his room and threw his suitcase on the bed. He began to unpack. As he unpacked he was yurning to go to bed. Finally when he was finished he went to put up his suitcase. As he opened up his closet and was adjusting the stuff inside to make room for his suitcase a thin, old, child written book hit him on the head. Hammond looked at it. It was an old book he had written as a small child. The paper cover read"Dinosaur Zoo". Hammond remembered writting it many years ago but he never remembered the wild imagination he had when he was little. He sat down and started to read it forgeting all about his suitcase. There was just something that pulled him on to read it. It read, "Once a man made dinosaurs and put them in cages". "Then he built a park and put the dinosaurs in it". "Everyone loved it and the man lived Happily ever after". It was then that Hammond realized what it was that he had wanted to make all his life. He must have forgotten about it when got older. Hammond being a smart man Knew that it was possible nowadays to clone an animal. Maybe even prehistoric animals. The only problem was you had to have DNA of the animal to clone it. He thuoght to himself where could you get dinosaur DNA. Realizing he was to tired to think he decided to sleep on it. He got dressed and crawled into the bed. He watched the blades on the ceiling fan above rotate until everything in the room started to fade and then it was black.

As Hammond opened his eyes early in the morning he got out of bed and stretched. Then the book on the chair caught his eye and he remembered everything from last night. He walked over to the coffee table and looked for the phonebook. He found it and looked for a number he could call. He found the number for a genetics laboratory called International Genetics(InGen). He called the number and waited for an answer. A mans voice
spoke up saying "Hi, this is John Isna may I help you?" "Yes, who is one of your company's top scientists?"asked Hammond. "One of our best scientists here at the lab is a man named Henry Wu."said Isna's voice. "Well I need to see him its very urgent!"shouted Hammond. "Whats your address?"asked Hammond. "Our address is 1522 Rebel Lane." "We're the only building on top of a fairly steep hill at the very back of a neighborhood". "Isn't that a strange place for a laboratory I meen it sounds like somme horror movie."said Hammond. "The man's voice spoke up"Yes, we get that a lot but the reason were in this unusual location is because no one thought it was possible to clone animals. So the government gave us this absurd location. But now that we proved it possible the government is transfering us to a new location in a few weeks. So if you come down here it'll be kinda messy but not that that really matters." "Thankyou very much sir."said Hammond and he hung up. Hammond practically ran down the stairs. He couldn't wait to get to the lab. He had it all planned out. Since Hammond was a billionare he could give Henry Wu a job as the top genetics engineer. Then he could hire the top men of the world for any job that was required for his park. He got into his car and drove off.

After no longer than thirty minutes he saw the laboratory atop a hill. He drove up and walked inside. Like the man had said it was quite messy inside. There were wires on the floor, chairs sitting around, and papers everywere. He walked up to the counter and said to the person at it "Where can I find Henry Wu?" "The small office in the back."said the lady at the counter. "Thankyou."said Hammond and he walked toward the office in the back. Inside he saw a tan Chinese-American man in a long lab coat. "Hello." said Wu. "You must be Hammond." "Yes."replied Hammond. "I'm here to give you the chance of a life time."said Hammond. "And what might that be?"said Wu. "Mr.Wu I'm here to ask if there is any possible way to get a large sum of dinosaur DNA?"asked Hammond. "Please please call me Henry."said Wu. "Well Mr.Hammond there is a way that I figured out after years of study." "Which is"asked Hammond. "Well Mr.Hammond back in the prehistoric times there were mosquitos just like today. And like today they fed on the bllood of animals even dinosaurs." "What are you aiming at Henry?"asked Hammond. "I'm getting to that part. Well sometimes after a mosquito would bite and suck the blood of a dinosaur it might land on the branch of the tree and get stuck in the sap. After a long time the tree sap would get hard and become fossilized preserving the mosquito inside." "I see so all you would have to do would be to extract the pleisure of blood from the mosquito and Bingo."said Hammond. "Yep."said Wu. Well then Henry there's just one more thing."said Hammond. "This may sound crazy but under strictly confidential construction and a few years I would like you to be the head genetics engineer at an amusement park that will record break all others"said Hammond. "Which is?"asked Wu. "A park made up of bioengineered dinosaurs!"replied Hammond.

Hammond saw Wu looked uneasy but he still managed to speak in a calm voice"Hammond Yes it would be possible to do watch your asking , but I don't think I want to be a part of it. I meen I've got a family to look after I need all the money I can get which meens not being away on some desserted island."replied Wu. "I had a feeling you'd say something like that Henry. But if you work at this park I'll pay a few million a year."said Hammond. "This made Wu become interested "You meen you'll practically make me a millionare if I take this job?"asked Wu. "Thats right I ment every word of it."said Hammond. "Mr. Hammond it looks like I'm gonna make you some dinosaurs!"shouted Henry.

Hammond spent the next few weeks looking for others who were intrested in the job. So far he'd hired a top computer expert named John Arnold, a sloppy fat man named Denis Nedry to design the computer programs, and the legendary white hunter from Kenya named Robert Muldoon as the head person in control of the dinosaurs. Hammond had just found one of the best vets in the world named Harding. Which was strange because the man never gave him his last name. Hammond was now searching for the island to begin construction on. It seemed the only thing the people he'd hired worried about was the fact that everything they were doing was to be kept a secret from the government and public. It semmed that their were no desserted islands anywhere. So Hammond called his good friend Ron. "Hello?"said Ron's voice. "Hi Ron its Hammond."replied Hammond. "Oh,hey John I haven't heard from you in a long time whats going on?"asked Ron. "Ron, I'm now living my dream, I'm doing what I've secretly always wanted to do...create a dinosaur park."replied Hammond. "Great, so um do I get any part in this because I meen we've never built a park without each other?"asked Ron. "Well Ron I kinda wanted to do this one on my own."said Hammond. Hammond could hear Ron start to cry on the other end. It was so painful departing from Ron that Hammond couldn't hold back the tears. "I called to ask if you know of any desserted islands?" sobbed Hammond. Ron sobbed back"Yes, there's one 100 miles of the coast of Costa Rica called Isla Nublar." Hammond sobbed"Thankyou Ron I promise to build another park with you when I'm done with this one,"and he hung up the phone.

Hammond stared at Henry Wu as he worked on some of the DNA they had gotten so far. Hammond had purchased a large sum of amber and was still purchasing. He had even purchased Isla Nublar. It was now two months since Hammond got the idea of making a park with biogenetic dinosaurs and everything was going according to plan. Except for one thing...what on earth was he going to call his park. Since he coudn't think of anything good he asked Wu. "Henry do you have any idea what we can call this park?" "How about Cretacious park?"asked Wu. "Or Triassic Park. Or Jurassic Park?"said Wu. "What did you just say?"asked Hammond. "I said Triassi....No no no after that?"Hammond interupted. "Jurassic Park."replied Wu. "Yes, it's perfect "Jurassic Park!"shouted Hammond. After this, signs and merchandise were everywhere saying Jurassic Park. Hammond had mugs,T-shirts,water bottles, stuffed animals, writting pads, lunch boxes, videos, videogames, gameboard games, and just about everything else to show his pride in Jurassic Park! There was still one thing Hammond hadn't thought of. What would the buildings look like, how would they be designed, and what security system they would have on them. Hammond looked back in the book he had wrote when he was little. He looked at the illustrations of the buildings. They had a grayish color to them and they were made of thick metal. Then he saw the visitor center, it had walls of grayish metal and large straw pyramids for the roof. The rest Hammond would make up on his own.

The egg wobbled as Hammond watched in amazement. It was now seven months since he had started the park and the buildings were coming along nicely. But now Hammmond was staring at the first dinosaur about to hatch at his park and also the world! He walked over to it and stared closely at the egg. Then the egg started to crack more and more. Now Hammond could parshily see the dinosaur. Five minutes passed as the dinosaur made it's way out of the egg shell and Hammond couldn't bare it any longer, he stared to help it out of the egg. A bloody mound of flesh fell out and everyone in the building shouted for joy. Hammond new that the baby was a she because the lab mechanically put the embryo inside a plastic egg and watched as it grew over a long period of time. The way they made sure every dinosaur at their park was female was simple. When humans or animals start to form in their mothers womb we always no matter what start out life as a female. Since they could track the baby's growth they could denie the embryo the certain cell it needed at a certain period of its age to become male.

Back in his office, Hammond began his search for more staff. With the creation of the first dinosaur, Jurassic Park was now officially underway. As he searched through pages and pages of renowned officals one caught his eye. An ex-programs/computer engineer for Disney Land, and Navy bomb programer. The name below read Ray Arnold.

The air was extremely hot and humid as Hammond stepped out of his Lexus in a quaint little neighborhood. By the looks of the houses, Hammond figured Ray made pretty good money, but nothing compared to the offer Hammond was about to make. He walked up the driveway to a white shingled house with light blue shutters. He rang the doorbell and a tall black man opened the door with a cigarrete in his mouth. He was adorned in a bath robe. "Good day to you Mr.Arnold, I'm John Hammond. May I come in?"
"If you want". replied Arnold in a melodramatic tone. Hammond stepped in and Arnold led them to a large living room. They both sat down on a tan leather couch. "Now, getting rght to the point, I'm here to make you an offer you won't refuse". replied Hammond with a half-grin on his face.
"Already have a job. Pays well and has good perks. Its made me one of the top engineers in the world. I have a good house, big backyard, and have a beautiful errr....had a beautiful wife. What could you possibly offer me,Mr.Hammond, that would even slightly spark my interest?

A week later Ray Arnold walked down a gray corridor as Hammond led him into the control room. "Now this is were you'll be working and managing the park".

    to be continued.
