    Chapter 5: Secrets
“What do you mean three species were wiped out!” shouted Hammond.
John Hammond stood up in his apartment, pacing around, as Henry Wu looked onward.
“Well John, we don’t have an exact lockdown on the problem yet. Dr. Harding and Dr. Lynn are working on it,” Dr. Wu stated. He stopped Hammond from pacing, “We have twenty two species on this Island, and losing three is not that big of a deal.”
“That’s what’s wrong with you Henry,” said Hammond calmly, “You don’t care enough for these creatures,” He stood for a moment thinking, “So go now my friend and fix the problem. That’s all I ask before you head off to Nublar.”
“Ok John. I have a hunch, maybe. I’ll have to speak to Gerry,” said Dr. Wu as he headed for the door.
“Remember finding this problem means everything to this park,” said Hammond.
As Henry Wu walked away, he thought of other plans more important than the disease. Plans that Nedry, Dr. McKay, Nordby, and he had kept secret from John Hammond, secret from everyone.

“I was an idiot!” shouted Dr. Henry Wu to himself as he threw up his arms. He was examining a dead Metriacanthosaurus.
“Well of course, you are,” remarked Ira Thomas as he walked over to Dr. Wu, “Just kidding, ha ha.” He slapped him on the back.
Ira Thomas was the most hated besides Nedry out of the whole Sorna staff. Twenty-two, tall, and Australian, he was a recent grad from a very prestigious school, but didn’t act like it. He always joked around, but in engineering he brought new skills to the table. Now Dr. Harding, Dr. Lynn and he all were examining a dead juvenile Metriacanthosaurus.
“What do you mean Henry?” asked Dr. Lynn as she walked over to his side of the table.
“I mean,” said Dr. Wu as he pushed Ira off him, “I mean that we were looking in the wrong place the whole time.”
“That’s just like you,” joked Ira Thomas.
“Anyways,” said Henry, “I thought environment or weather or another animal were effecting the dinos, but actually it was something that we did, and I’m glad we did find it.” Henry looked back at the creature and looked around in the insides of it examining things. Ignoring Dr. Lynn for a few minutes.
“Tell me for GOD sakes your holding me in suspense!” cried out Dr. Lynn.
“Samantha! Getting a little tense, freakin out on an island!” joked Ira.
WHAM! Dr. Wu punched Ira Thomas in the face. He fell to the floor hitting the table before coming to a heap on the white room floor. “Jesus Christ that guy is a prick,” said Dr. Wu. He turned back to Dr. Lynn, “Anyways, the food that we fed those three dinosaurs is what was killing them.”
“But all we fed those three was Shee…..Oh Shit your right,” said Dr. Lynn realizing her revelation.
“Sheep is the most dangerous thing to feed to regular animals, but I didn’t think it could effect dinosaurs because there really are no carnivorous birds,” explained Dr. Wu. Continuing, “The diseases caused in mammals in man by sheep can range from scrapie to brain disease.”
“Why didn’t you warn this to Hammond?” asked Dr. Lynn.
“I did, but he didn’t care as long as they were well feed and cared for,” answered Dr. Wu, “Luckily we found out now instead of later when all of our carnivorous dinosaurs would be fed with the sheep.”
“I’m going to tell Hammond now,” stated Dr. Lynn, “This smell is getting to me,” she waved the air with her hand.
“Ok, I have some business to take care of,” said Dr. Wu.
With that they both left, one person to warn of danger the other to create danger.
Ira Thomas woke up by himself on the floor with the Metriacanthosaurus.

“It’s all done Mr. Nordby,” said a worker. Pointing to the newly finished lab south of everything on Site B, something secretly constructed.
“That’s great, you are done for now,” Mr. Nordby replied. He looked at the place with satisfaction. Him and Dr. Wu’s idea; It was a secret from Hammond where they with the help of Scientist Lizzie McKay and computer programmer Dennis Nedry could make dinosaurs for their own enjoyment and study. Hammond didn’t believe in changing dinosaurs. He liked the real thing and disliked extremely frightening ones.
Nick Nordby, at thirty-eight hated his game warding in the African wildlife reserves. He killed more poachers then he did anything else, so when Hammond offered him a job here he took it. Looking at this secret project he felt that this job was completely worth it. All that he needed was the arrival of Dr. Wu and they could get started.
Dr. Henry Wu, Nick Nordby, Dennis Nedry, and Dr. Lizzie McKay then began a secret project that created two new species of dinosaurs and one changed dinosaur. They first created the amazing Spinosaurus and they created new flying reptiles called Pteranodons, they had to build an aviary because of the all creatures’ viciousness. Finally against everything sacred, they tampered with the most dangerous creatures of them all, Velociraptors.

1986 ended on a high note for construction and dinosaur production. Isla Nublar had begun production, and they had over twenty species of dinosaurs. The disease problem was solved and so was the maintenance for Dilophosaurs. Cazandra Ross decided to stay on Isla Sorna to make some final evaluations. Plus she was fascinated by the place.
Plans for the New Year included staff movement from Sorna to Nublar, Ed Regis’s arrival for a tour, and dinosaur movement, but some incidents on Site B would change things to come, but not Hammonds view of his final dream, his Jurassic Park.
