X MEN THE MUTANT CHRONICLES CHAPTER 1
    By INFESTATION

    Chapter 1

    Sarah

The bright light, and the white walls all seemed bright to her. There was only 1 picture and that was of a diagram of the human body. Sarah Dunnel was in her doctor’s office. She was nervous and was slightly shaking. She was 13 years old and hated doctors. At 5ft3, she was a slightly built young girl, with a body that some might think of as not chubby yet chubby. She wasn’t like usual chubby girls. She just wasn’t too skinny either. She had freckles on her cheeks, not too many, maybe 3 or 4. You’d think of her almost like a farm girl. She wore jeans and t-shirts, maybe even tank tops with no sleeves at all. You’d never see Sarah in a dress or skirt at all. Sarah didn’t like them. To boys she’d be considered a tomboy. Sarah also had glasses. They were fancy glasses so she wasn’t considered a nerd. They were prescription and not necessarily that she needed them, it’s just that they helped her see clearer than she could. Today she was in the doctor’s office because of her hands. They were for some odd reason always warm. Her mother thought it was abnormal but Sarah wasn’t necessarily worried. In fact she thought it was normal. Her mother was sitting next to her as she thought about what the doctor might say. Sarah’s mother was 5ft9, looked like a super model, and was considered by some to be very attractive, even for a mother of 42. She had given birth to Sarah when she was 29. The doctor walked into the office and smiled at them. He had been gone from the room, getting the results he wanted.
“ Well I have some interesting news. Nothing really bad at all. Sarah’s condition is indeed unusual. Usually our hands or other parts of us become warm or cold depending I presume on our emotions or other conditions. The fact that Sarah’s hands seem to be constantly at that temperature doesn’t seem to have adverse affects that I can see. Her x-rays don’t show any deformation due to the temperature. I would assume it’s a safe condition for what it is. I wouldn’t worry about a thing. She’ll lead a normal life,” the doctor said.
“ It won’t effect her growth will it?” the mother asked.
“ Hardly. She’ll grow up to be a fine young lady. I can see it already,” the doctor said, smiling. “ She’s a healthy young teenaged girl.” Sarah's mother gave a sigh of relief. It wasn't as bad as she thought it might be. But something kept nagging at the back of her head. For some reason she wanted to keep an eye on her daughter.

That afternoon, Sarah did everything a normal teenaged girl would do. She took her shower, dressed into her pajamas, thought of teenaged boys and what she would do to a boy if she got one to be her boyfriend, and of coarse listened to music while reading a book. Finally she turned off the light and got to bed.

    Seth

The ready look on his face said everything. He was ready for the challenge. Seth Donivine never considered himself a big adventurous person but he held the hopes that one day he'd make a big splash in life. It was his motto after all, MAKE A DIFFERENCE, BECOME A BIG BROTHER. At least that was the motto of the corporation he worked for. Or used to work for. He quit 2 weeks ago and was now working at the local K-Mart. He smiled as he walked up to the couple that was looking in the movies section.
" Good evening. Are you finding everything ok?" he said with a smile. He had to impress the costumers. They glanced at him.
" We're trying to find the new Civil War movie for our teenaged son. He loves history and this would be good for him. Seth nodded his head.
" Then you'd be looking for this," he said as he picked up a DVD, " Gods and Generals. It's the latest of a trilogy that dramatizes the entire war." The couple took a look at the movie.
" Thank you," the man said and they walked off with it. Bang, another sale for the Rex as he called himself. He was the king of K-Mart.

Across the way, a man walked into the store from the storage room. He glanced around, made sure nobody was paying attention. He had something in his pocket. He made sure nobody had noticed him enter, and he was really careful not to bump into unnecessarily nosey employees. Within no time he was wondering around the store acting normal.

Seth was behind the counter at the electronics department. He was counting the change of a customer who was paying for Pokémon Ruby for the Game Boy Advanced system. It was for the man’s 7-year-old son. He noticed the man walking by his area, looking as if he were normal but obviously suspicious of people. He gave the man his change and the bag that held the game, walked off toward the gaming section, glanced left and right, and slowly followed the man. He took another worker to the side and brought him out of view.
“ Call for security. I have a bad feeling about this one,” he said. The worker walked off and Seth began his pursuit once more. Seth made a quick pit stop at the sports area and grabbed a metal golf club. He then hid it and walked off.

The man stopped near the jewelry station. He glanced around, noticed everything was clear, saw a young woman, looked like she was just hired, a teenager, grabbed her and pointed the gun in her back. She jumped and whimpered.
“ Shut up and I’ll keep you breathing,” the man whispered into her ear. He pushed her to the cash register.
“ Open the register,” he demanded. The girl didn’t want to oblige but he pushed the gun’s nozzle into her back, and she opened the register. The man threw her down and grabbed all the cash. He put it into a bag that he had been carrying. He then took his gun and pointed it at the girl.
“ It’s been nice knowing you,” he said, “ but I think all things have to come to an end.” He cocked the gun when a golf club slammed into his wrist. He screamed in pain, dropped the gun, and turned to see a teenaged boy standing there with the club held like a lightsaber ready to strike.
“ Time to pay for this,” the man said.
“ Hardly,” Seth replied. The man grabbed behind his back. Seth became nervous. He wasn’t used to handling deadly opponents, he was simply a k-mart worker. The man pulled out a knife, readied for the kill, suddenly couldn’t move. Seth was both afraid and angry, he felt the anger stirring in his eyes, didn’t want the man to move, pictured him not moving an inch in his mind. He saw the man suddenly just freeze. The man couldn’t move an inch. He was trying, but he couldn’t. It was as if some invisible force was keeping him in that pose. Then he flew back into an invisible wall, looked like he was crucified. Seth couldn’t believe his eyes. Now Seth was imagining that the guy would drop his knife, the man did. Seth was marveled at how his mental images were becoming real. He smiled just a bit. He imagined the man upside down now, high in the air, like a fish on a tied to a rope. The man now hung upside down.
“ Help! Get me down from here!” he screamed. His feet were nearly touching the ceiling. The cops arrived. Lucky for the man. The cops walked under him, Seth let the guy go with his mind, the man fell onto the cops and they arrested him. Seth began to walk away but a startled screech hit the crowd. He stopped instantly, knew a handcuffed criminal had thrown the knife at him, but did nothing. Mentally he had stopped the knife in mid flight just inches from his head. This got a few more startled screeches of more or less surprise. The knife dropped as Seth walked away back to his service area, knew later on that he’d have to go through some questioning.
