Death Of An Island Chapter 1
    By Giant Wang

JURASSIC PARK: Death of An Island( IV )

It was very late at the InGen Complex, and many staff members were working late. The board sat at the meeting table and they all sat quietly. The man at the front was softly chattering on the phone, but it went from soft to a loud voice.

    Chairman of the Board

No! No! This is not what we agreed on! You can't just do that! It wasn't our fault that happened.......Fine, can't we settle it some how? ( Voice goes down a bit ) Alright, yeah..yeah, this isn't the end of it, yeah bye.

He puts his hands to his face and yawns, all of the board member simply stare and wonder about the whole conversation.

    Chairman (cont.)

Well, bad news I'm afraid. They won't comply, they are going to get rid of our work. They are shutting us down, and they are taking our islands away. Although before the untimely death of our older chairman, the military signed a treaty with us to let the dinosaurs live in peace. But since the attack last year, when Dr. Alan Grant and other civilians got stuck there, they have disobeyed our occuring treaty and they are going to kill them off. We have put our lives into this, into all of the work we've done but yet the government doesn't care. They figure the island is the biggest mistake a man could have done, many agree with him including an old friend of InGen, Dr. Ian Malcolm. And now I guess they are just going to shut us down.

The boards faces turn down and dim. The light in the room makes it easy to even see the people in the back of the room frown in disapproval.

    Chairman (cont.)

Now if you excuse me, I have a desk to pack up. And I think that is what you should do to, because there is no point in coming in tomorrow.

The board looks around, then one man raises his hand. The Chairman acknowledges him.

    Member #1

Sir, we can't just sit here. We have sat here and watched everything wrong happen and we found a way around it, and now it's just another one of those situations.

    Chairman

Yes I know, but what can we do?

    Member #1

Well, we can do something. I may not have an idea, but that is what the board of directors here is supposed to do...think.

    Chairman

Fine, anyone in here have a brilliant idea?

    Member #2

Take them to court? I mean we could win.

    Chairman

Against the government of this country? ( chuckles )

    Member #3

( Studders )...Well we could send a mission to...uhh...sabotage them.

    Chairman

Well, it sounds better than going to court, but in all seriousness...who could we get to go to the island. No one would want to go there, and besides we would need to know exactly when the military is going to destroy them.

    Member #1

Sir, you never actually explained what they're going to do.

    Chairman

Oh yes, I'm so very sorry, I got to mixed up in my own self-pity. They are sending a team of military specialists to plant a biological weapon. Now if we found out the date they are going to do this, we could send our team in afterwards and disable the bomb.

    Member #3

Yeah, Yeah, I know a guy who can help us...he used to work for InGen. He has friends in the F.B.I. and I bet he would be willing to help, anything for InGen.

    Chairman

I don't know if this is such a good plan.

    Member #2

    I like this plan.

    Chairman

    Yes...but well...your...nevermind.

    Member #3

I like it too, I think we should go for it.

    Chairman

Well, I have faith in the board. I would do anything to keep John's dream alive.

    Member#4

Sir, it's not really such as a dream, but a reality and now that I think about it. The island is very dangerous. I mean, people can easily just go there, and the government is trying to keep us safe.

    Chairman

Yes, but you don't understand, I don't work for the government, I work for you...I work for Ingen.

    Member#4

( Nervously shakes his head )...o...uhhh..ok

    Chairman

So in all who is with me on this? Shall we go with the plan? Please reply by raising your right hand.

A few people raise them but not all, but in the end more than enough for the vote to be won. The chairman gives a reassuring smile and nod. He then walks out of the room to a very positive room. The chairman walks downstairs, followed by the third board member. He ends up in the lobby and walks outside.

    Member#3

    Wait, sir.

    Chairman

    ( Turns )...Yes?

    Member#3

Should I give my friend a call? I mean how is the plan going to well....work out?

    Chairman

Can your friend really help this mission? We need more than just one man.

    Member#3

He can help, he's been there before. After he was there, he worked for years with InGen before leaving to photograph predators in Africa. You probably would know him, I mean you have been working here very long to.

    Chairman

    Are you refering to Nick?

    Member#3

Yes, Mr. Van Owen could help us. Mr. Hammond sent him 8 years ago to stop his nephew from taking the dinosaurs to the mainland, before the San Diego incident.

    Chairman

Well, if you are able to get him back to the island, then we can use him. But right now, I, myself have much work to do. I need to find a group of people I can actually get to the island. Although I'll probably end up using whatever is left of InGens money to do so.

    Member#3

Alright, I'll give him a call. We should assemble this together Mr. Dilbeck.

    Chairman ( Mr. Dilbeck )

Yes, it would have to be soon. The military is sneaky and works quickly. Tell Nick to find out when the mission is, and then we assemble our mission. We don't need a plan til we have a team.

    Member#3

    Alright Mr. Dilbeck.

Enter Small House, In a Suburban Town

The Television is on and the light flashes across the room. There are chips and junk food all over the floor, and it looks all pretty dumpy. Then on the couch lays a man, he moves a bit. Then there is a sudden noise, it's the phone. The man gets up, it's Nick Van Owen, he puts his hand on the floor. He moves his hand as if searching while the phone still rings. Then he finds it and lifts it to his ear.

    Nick

    ( Studders )..He..He..Hello?

    Member#3

Oh hey Nick. It's Roger, how have you been?

    Nick

Hey Roge, I've been good how about you?

    Member#3 ( Roger )

Well, not to good. They are shutting down InGen.

    Nick

    Who? Dilbeck?

    Roger

No, the government. They say we are dangerous, it's all because of that damn island. They are going to destroy it but we want to preserve it. But uhhh, how is well your job?

    Nick

Oh, good...I'm always so busy. My schedule is like full ( Lieing ).

    Roger

Well, the reason I called is sort of important, I need a favor.

    Nick

Well, I'll see what I can do, shoot.

    Roger

I was wondering, if you would help InGen.

    Nick

    How?

    Roger

Well, the military is sending a mission to Isla Sorna to destroy everything. They are going to kill off every species with a biological weapon. Now we need you to find out when this is going to happen, so we can uhh...sabotage it.

    Nick

    How would I know?

    Roger

    Dan, from the F.B.I...

    Nick

Oh yeah, is that it? Is that all you want? Cause I doubt that won't be too hard.

    Roger

    Well, no...not really.

    Nick

    What? What is it?

    Roger

We need you to go to the island with us.

    Nick

    Whoa Whoa Whoa, why?

    Roger

You've been there...you sabotaged Hammonds nephew.

    Nick

Yeah, but well...it also caused so many problems.

    Roger

You aren't gonna get stuck there, there will be a helicopter on the island while we are. Plus, since InGen is going out of business soon, with the money left over we can well...pay you extensivly. But if your busy and I bet you've probably got tons of money.

    Nick

( Frowns, gives a look as if thinking )...Well, I do have money, but I could always go for more. And InGen was a part of my life for awhile. I...I...I don't know though.

    Roger

Just do me the first favor, it will give you time to think about the second one.

    Nick

    Alright, alright.

    Roger

    Thank you...I owe you one.

    Nick

Sure, bye ( Hangs up ).

Nick sits on the couch, and wonders. His facial expressions change a few times, then he looks around the room in front of him. Nick picks up the phone and dials.

    Nick (cont.)

Hey Roge, I thought about it...I'm in.

    Roger

Great! Thank you, I'll tell Dilbeck. Now find out when the military is planning the attack.

    Nick

Alright, I'm gonna get right on it.

    Roger

    Good...Great!

    Nick

( Hangs up )...Damn, this is low.

    Roger

( Hangs up )...So far so good.

Roger stands in the middle of his beautiful living room and smiles.

    Enter Morning Dilbecks Office

Dilbeck is on the phone, Roger enters and sits across from him in a soft chair.

    Dilbeck

( To Man on Phone )...So your in?...Good...Alright I'll meet you for lunch tomorrow.

Dilbeck hangs up, and folds his hands as if he just sealed a deal.

    Roger

    Guess what Mr. Dilbeck?

    Dilbeck

    Yes?

    Roger

Nick is in, he is going to get the information we need, and he agreed to go to the island with us.

    Dilbeck

    Under an conditions?

    Roger

Well he just wants to be payed a bit.

    Dilbeck

No big deal, whatever is left after we buy transportation.

    Roger

Alright, who was that on the phone?

    Dilbeck

It was a friend of mine, he is going to design a few trucks for me. He is coming along with me.

    Roger

    With you?

    Dilbeck

Yes, I figured I don't want this to be in the hands of people who don't know what they are doing, they need a professional around.

    Roger

But Nick is going...he's a professional.

    Dilbeck

Yeah I know but really I worked for InGen and never worked in the lab, always behind a desk. It payed off, but all these years I wanted to see them up close but Hammond worked me behind the desk, I was to afraid to tell him I didn't want this job.

    Roger

    Oh, sir it's to dangerous.

    Dilbeck

I'll be alright, I'm going to have a few specialists with me.

    Roger

    Name the team so far.

    Dilbeck

Me, Nick, the designer/field expert Darren, an ammunition specialists by the name of Greg, and that's about it.

    Roger

Well I can't let you go by yourself, we've been friends for years...add my name to that list.

    Dilbeck

    Really? Are you sure?

    Roger

    No, but I don't care, I'm going.

    Dilbeck

Alright now, go ahead and find all the information from Nick.

    Roger

    Sure, I'll call him later.

    Dilbeck

After that call me...I would like to know.

    Roger

    You got it.

Roger walks out of Dilbecks office, and looks down. Looks down as if wondering, if he made a big mistake. But instead of staying, he shakes it off and walks away.

Enter Bar, Roger sits at a stool talking to the bartender.

    Bartender

    What'll it be?

    Roger

( Looking down )..Just a beer.

    Bartender

    Down on your luck?

    Roger

No, not really...I just made a bad decision today.

    Bartender

Oh, I understand, i've made some bad decisions.

    Roger

I don't know, maybe not, maybe not this bad.

    Bartender

Alright...( Pulls out a bottle )...here my friend.

    Roger

    Thank you.

Then a man walks into the bar, it's Nick. He spots Roger and sits down next to him. Roger doesn't notice him.

    Nick

( Suprising him )...You don't look so good.

    Roger

( Suprised )..Oh! Nick, how did you know I was here?

    Nick

You wife told me...I called you earlier, she said you were at a bar. Took me an hour to find you Roge.

    Roger

Yeah well I made a decision today I'm going to regret.

    Nick

Oh yeah huh, what would that decision be?

    Roger

Well, Dilbeck was telling me the members of the team, and he told me he was going. So really on reflex I volunteered myself. Because I don't want this to go wrong, niether does Dilbeck and I'm afraid you guys are going to pull something stupid. My father used to say I cared too much.

    Nick

    Don't go then.

    Roger

I have to, I already told Dilbeck I was.

    Nick

Who gives a shit? Screw Dilbeck, whats he going to do if you don't go?

    Roger

Nothing, he can't but, there is also a side of me that wants to go.

    Nick

Oh, well it's not up to me what you do. But I've got some good news.

    Roger

    Yeah, what?

    Nick

I asked Dan, the F.B.I. guy, when the mission was.

    Roger

    And he said?

    Nick

He wouldn't say. But after a little while I got it out of him.

    Roger

    Yeah, when?

    Nick

This Sunday. They have the choppers already, and the biological weapon loaded, I saw them. They've got to have at least a team of twenty people. They plan on setting the bomb in the middle of the island, that way the radius destroys every living creature on the island even bacteria.

    Roger

Oh god...so if today is Wednesday,we have three days.

    Nick

Yeah, so you should call Dilbeck and tell him to organize everything quick. Because this team leaves Saturday.

Roger and Nick exchange glances, and Nick nods a goodbye and walks away. Roger looks back down.

Enter Outside the Bar, Roger uses a pay phone.

    Roger

    ...Hello is Mr. Dilbeck there?

    Secretary

    Yes, hold please.

( Music Plays over phone, Then there is a voice )

    Dilbeck

    Hello.

    Roger

Hello, Hello, Mr. Dilbeck it's Roger.

    Dilbeck

    Oh Roger, what is it?

    Roger

Well, good news...Nick found out all the information we need. Let me just tell you they are going to be there Sunday, so we have to leave Saturday. Organize a meeting with our team. Nick will explain the situation to everyone.

    Dilbeck

Sounds good, I'll get right on.

    Roger

    Outstanding, bye.

Enter, Saturday, Huge Plane, Cargo Plane

Dilbeck is yet again on the phone, Nick is on a small bench near one of the two jeeps. Roger lays down asleep on the opposite side of the plane on the bench, while to other men sit loading weapons. Dilbeck then hangs up and mumbles to himself.

    Nick

Lets go over the plan one more time please.

    Dilbeck

Yes, Yes of course ( Everyone drops what they are doing, Nick throws a bolt at Roger and he sits up ). Well this is the plan, we land in the interior of the island and set up a camp, the plane will be nearby on a landing strip. Then that morning we wait for the helicopter of the opposing team. They set the bomb, and leave without a ounce of trouble then we simply just difuse the bomb.

    Roger

Yeah, but after this aren't they going to try again? ( Yawns )

    Dilbeck

Try not to think of the future. Just think about the present.

    Roger

    Uhh...ok..yeah.

    Nick

Ask the pilot if we are almost there.

    Dilbeck

    Bruce and Clark go check.

The two men who were loading the guns get up, one of them was a field tester and one a ammunition specialists.

    Bruce

    Alright sir.

The two walk into a door in the front of the big room they are all sitting in.

    Nick

    Those two better be good.

    Dilbeck

    Best I could find.

    Nick

Good, because we are going to need them...and all this weaponry ( Points to a table filled with guns ), it isn't enough ammunition.

    Dilbeck

    Of course it is...

    Nick

Yeah, you'll think different when you see these things.

    Dilbeck

    It doesn't scare me...

    Nick

    I said wait, just wait.

    Dilbeck

    Ok, whatever.

    Nick

( Rolls his eyes, then mumbles )...Rich asshole.

    Dilbeck

    What was that?

    Nick

    Nothing, what?

    Dilbeck

I thought I heard something from you.

    Nick

    No, not me.

The two guys walk out of the door.

    Bruce

He said about five minutes, so I guess we are pretty close.

    Dilbeck

Good, this will all be over before we know it.

    Roger

Nick, how big are the dinosaurs?

    Nick

Oh, you wouldn't believe. I was never amazed by dinosaurs, never even knew what one even looked like. But when I got here, it was worse then I could ever imagine, or ever did.

    Dilbeck

Bullshit, It can't be that bad.

    Nick

    You would be utterly suprised.

Nick stands up, and stares Dilbeck down.

    Dilbeck

You see that's why I had to fire you.

    Nick

    Yeah screw you, you dumbass.

    Roger

You were fired, I thought you left unpurpose to be a photograph predators in Africa.

    Nick

No this piece of shit rich guy fired me. I didn't want anyones pity.

    Dilbeck

Why you son of a bit---

    Roger

( Cutting Dilbeck off )...Alright, Alright stop.

    Dilbeck

( To Nick )...Stay away from me, or you'll pay.

    Nick

    Same goes for you.

Bruce and Clark are looking out the windows.

    Clark

    Mr. Dilbeck...

    Dilbeck

    Yes Clark what is it?

    Clark

    We're here.

All of them head to seperate circular windows and look out.

TO BE CONTINUED...SOON CHAPTER TWO THEN THE AMAZING ENDING!!!!!
