    Seven Days
    By Edgar

“Wow, that was a great movie,” Reiko said as they exited the theater. “I never thought I'd see a scarier movie!” They began to walk to the bike rack next to the exit. Reiko was a teenage girl who was about the age 15. She went, with two of her friends, Diego and Alexa, to see a movie called Rasen . It was a Japanese film that had come out recently. It was a sequel to the hit 1998 Japanese movie, Ringu. Reiko unlocked their bikes and they all began to peddle to their houses.

When Reiko got home, she saw the kid across the street crying on his porch. His name was Aidan Keller. Reiko was his babysitter two days before. That day she found out that Aidan’s mother Rachel was almost killed in a well when she had fallen in. The day after, Aidan’s father Noah was mysteriously murdered. Reiko went up to Aidan and began to comfort him. Aidan had always had a little crush on Reiko, so he decided to invite her in.

“Reiko, I have that movie you asked for last week. It was The N-Dimension, right?” Aidan questioned, obviously trying to take things off of his mind.

“Yeah. That is it. I'm sorry about your father’s death. He was a really great man.”

“That is what Rachel said. She said i should just be proud that he was my dad.” Aidan began to stutter. ”Reiko, I may not be at school tomorrow. because...because...” Aidan began to cry. Reiko didn’t know why. She asked him what was wrong, but the only thing he said was “Before you die, you see the Ring “. Rachel Keller came out to get her child. She saw Reiko and ushered Aidan inside.

“Mrs.Keller, I am really sorry about Noah. I was shocked to hear about it, especially since he died a day after you almost died in that well.”

“Well, you know, coincidence.” Rachel’s lip began to quiver. Rachel bid her a good night and began to walk inside, until Reiko called to her.

“Aidan said something to me before you came out. He told me that he may not be in school tomorrow, and then he started to cry.” At these words, Rachel’s lip began to quiver again. “He also said ‘Before you die, you see the Ring .’” Reiko noticed that Rachel’s face had become red.

“Well, I’ll just see you tomorrow, take care.” As Reiko began to walk away, she heard Rachel yelling.

“You were not supposed to tell anyone about the Ring, do you hear me? It has already killed your father, and if we don’t show this to anyone you will...” A car passed by while Reiko had been listening. By the time it had finished passing by, the yelling had stopped.

Reiko had finally gotten into her house and began to watch The N-Dimension, except it wasn’t the movie she thought it was. The tape seemed like a third or fourth generation copy. It was just showing static. Then on the screen flashed an image of a ring of light.

“Before you die, you see the ring”. Aidan’s voice had rung in her head. The ring disappeared and static showed again. More images began to appear on the screen. A pool of blood, a single chair, waves. And then a picture came up of someone that looked oddly familiar. It showed a woman who looked a lot like Reiko’s aunt Anna Morgan, who committed suicide a few years earlier. She was combing her hair in a mirror.

Reiko was so glad to see her aunt once more. Anna Morgan stopped combing her hair, as though she had seen the person viewing the tape. The image changed again, and it showed someone in another mirror. Although Reiko didn’t know this, the girl in this mirror was Samara Morgan. Samara was Anna’s adopted daughter. Weird things always happened around her. Then one day, she was murdered, and her body never found. That is, until Rachel Keller found Samara’s body in a well two days ago.

Images kept flashing on the television. There was a nail, a picture of Richard Morgan, Anna’s husband, peering through a window, a fly that looked like it was walking on her screen. Then Reiko saw the nastiest thing she had ever saw. The video showed a face with something being pulled out of its mouth. A few insectoid sounds were echoed through the television. There was a picture of the top of a well being put on. It reminded Reiko of when she had heard about Rachel’s accident in the well at some cabin resort. Then it showed a finger with a nail being pushed through it.

A loud shrieking high pitched noise had filled the room. Images of millions of people swimming in waters filled the screen now. Then it switched again to a shocking image of a severed fingers in a box. The videotape looked like it was someone's nightmare. After two minutes of watching the horrid video, the tape had finally ended.

There was a ringing sound filling her house. It was her phone. She picked it up and heard a little girls voice. “Seven days,” the voice stated.

She decided to show it to one of her friends. Her friend, Diego, thought that Reiko was playing a trick, especially when he got the phone call while Reiko was out of the room. Reiko tried to explain to him that this was a life and death situation, but he didn’t believe her and went on with his everyday routines.

The next day, the second day after she saw the tape, she went to her brother’s wedding. During the wedding, she screamed when she thought that the bride had turned into what looked like the girl on the tape. Everyone told her to be quiet and banished her to the garden outside of the church. When she got there her nose began to bleed, and she had to use her beautiful dress to stop the bleeding.

On Day three, Reiko was at a park when she saw someone walking towards her. Her ears filled with the insect-like sounds from the video. The girl from the tape walked closer. Her skin was a bluish-green color, as though she had been floating in the water for seven days. The girls hair was covering her face. The girl disappeared and reappeared next to Reiko on the bench. She grabbed Reiko’s hand, and then Reiko woke up. She was on the ground. Some people at the park helped her up, and went back to their lives.

Two days had passed when Reiko had started to become restless. She went to talk to Rachel. It was her fifth day. Rachel told her to go to the psychiatric center near “Sun Plaza Grove” to meet someone named Becca. Becca was with Rachel’s niece when she had died in front of her own friend from watching the cursed tape. Rachel told Reiko that she, although she was sorry for Reiko, was happy to say that Reiko helped Aidan’s curse become broken. The only information that really helped her was about Becca, so she decided to leave and get a ride to the psychiatric center.

Day Six. Reiko only had one day left. Becca told her about that night two weeks ago. How she had told Katie (Rachel’s niece) about a cursed tape rumor she heard in her school. Before Reiko left, Becca grabbed Reiko’s hand, lifting only one finger. “One day left,” she said. After the startling chat with Becca, Reiko decided to go back home and tell Diego all she had found out, although he may not believe her.

It was her last day. The curse of the video tape would end on that day at noon. She went to Diego’s house to tell him all of the information she had found out. Diego’s mother sent Reiko to Diego’s room once Reiko had arrived at Diego’s residence.

Diego had been on his iBook studying for a test they had the next day. He saw Reiko and smiled.

“Well it’s been seven days. Do you believe me that it was all a joke? You’ve been trying to scare me since we saw Rasen.”

“Diego, at Noon the curse will be over. Its our seventh day. We might die! I just wanted to tell you that I had always had a little crush on you.” Diego hugged her and smiled.

“Nothing is going to happen. The Ring isn’t real.” Just then, Diego’s television turned on. The sounds from the cursed tape rung in their ears. The images from the tape quickly flashed in Reiko’s memory. The girl from Reiko’s visions emerged from the pictured well on the screen. Reiko and Diego were so scared all they did was hold each other’s hand and sat there, mesmerized by the television.

Samara, the girl from the video, walked towards the screen. She kept walking, inching closer every second. The two began to panic. They jetted for the door, but it was locked. They couldn’t get it open. Samara’s face had filled the entire television screen.

Diego and Reiko began to scream, trying to escape the horror of the curse that had befallen them. The television began to pop and crackle while Samara began to terrifyingly crawl out of the television. Her upper body plopped onto the floor and began to feel around with the bloody stumps that were her fingers. She pulled herself up from the floor and all the way out of the television. Her movements were very unnatural, more insect like than human.

While the two were trying to escape, Samara walked over and grabbed Diego. He began to scream and her hair shifted to reveal a single eye that burned with hatred. Diego began to shrivel up, his skin becoming all scaly and green, like Samara’s. Reiko screamed and screamed and screamed. That was all she could do. She just sat their crying and screaming, watching Diego’s face twist into an unnatural grimace.

Samara walked over to Reiko. In Reiko’s head she could hear Samara’s voice drifting around her mind. “The curse has been lifted off of you. You have spread on my curse, my virus. You have helped spread the Curse of the Ring.” Samara’s hair moved and showed Reiko a single, deformed, cursed eye.

Reiko screamed and snapped out of her trance. She was in a funeral home. Today was Diego’s funeral. Now her worst fears were realized. Before you die, you see The Ring.
