Creater and Destroyer Chapter 1, part 1
    By DragonFly

    Chapter 1

    Part 1

    California:

Nina Johnson looked with dissatisfaction at the cardboard sign she was painting. It needed more color. As of now, it was simply two colors: red and white.

In red was painted, Save The Dinosaurs. The white was the background. The sign was terribly dull, and needed to be more aggressive, so she could make her point. InGen was very set on their decision to destroy Isla Nublar and Sorna, and it would take quite a lot to sway them. But Nina was set on her decision, too.

InGen had created dinosaurs, without any thought of the consequences. And now, they had to deal with the consequences. Yes, the dinosaurs were a problematic inconvenience, and a simple, easy solution to that problem would be to destroy them, but God didn’t wipe mankind off the face of the Earth (permanently) just because we were an inconvenient problem. InGen had abused their privilege to create and destroy life. It was not their place on this Earth to create and destroy as they please.

A few of her friends, Bryce, Cindy, and Colter, had agreed with her about the way InGen was handling their creations. They now formed an unofficial organization to protest the destruction of the Dinosaur Islands. They did whatever they could to keep InGen, in cooperation with the government, from gaining the approval and support of the public. A few times, they had even caused some conferences to be cancelled. Even though they were almost thrown in jail, it was worth the while to Nina.

The date for the bombing was exactly one week from now, but there was another meeting set for today. Nina and her friends planned to form a picket line on the street in front of the InGen headquarters. It would do little, but they still tried.

The phone rang right next to Nina, startling her. She jumped, smearing a line of red paint across her sign. Cussing, she picked up the phone and demanded, agitated, “What?!”

“Nina?” someone asked, and Nina identified the person as Bryce.

    “Yes,” she answered, “What?”

    “I have some bad news.”

    “What is it?”

“The bombings are rescheduled for tomorrow.”

    “Oh no. Who told you?”

“Well, Colter told me, and he got it from Cindy.”

    “How did Cindy find out?”

“Well, as you know, Cindy just got back from Montana a couple hours ago. It turns out that she paid a little visit to Dr. Alan Grant. She overheard a conversation between an InGen executive and Dr. Grant. The InGen guy wanted to know if Grant would like to witness the destruction of the dinosaurs. Tomorrow.”

    “Did Grant say yes?”

“Of course! The guy hates dinosaurs now almost as much as we love them. Of course, he still does paleontology. He invited his friend, Billy Brennan to come along as well.”

    “Did he say yes?”

“He was skeptical at first, of course, but yes, he agreed.”

Nina paused, thinking. They would need to think of something. Fast.

“Do you have a plan?” Bryce asked, and his voice was filled with worry.

“No, but I’m thinking.” She replied. She sighed unhappily when she couldn’t think of a logical plan. But she was soon smiling with excitement when an interesting new idea struck her. “Where are they leaving from?”

    “Montana.”

    “When?”

    “12:00 PM.”

She smiled again. A plan was definitely forming. “Okay. Get four tickets on the next flight to Montana.”

    “You have a plan?”

“Yes,” she said, “I have a plan.”
