Cold-Blood ch1

~~~The day's end was coming quickly; the sun began to set over the horizon where the faint outline of an island could be seen. The sky was full of vibrant shades of orange and red, and the clouds were oulined in pink and silver.
~~~Richard Saunders felt a twinge of fear begin to take him over as the island came into view, for this was Isla Sorna, an island from which only the most fearful stories come. "Drop zone ETA about five minutes," the Pilot said through the PA.
~~~Those five minutes went by a little too fast for Richard's tastes, but he had no choice. He didn't understand why the Costa Rican government didn't deal with it, it was really their problem. "Okay," said the pilot, "drop zone is right below, go now!" Richard and the four other members of his squad edged toward the door nervously, and jumped out one by one. Their parachutes opened and floated serenely toward the jungle below. All that could be seen were the dark silhouettes of the parachutes and the jungle below. For Richard, the ride down was like an eternity.
~~~Richard landed in front of an old, partially ruined, building. It's dark shadow loomed above him. He reached up to his shoulder to turn the lamp on, and search for the others. He breathed deep and began walk cautiously. There was the sound of loud breathing, and a deafening roar from an unseen source.
