    Ocarina of Time (Chapter 7)
    By Darth Chicken

    Chapter 7

“Who goes there?” the draw bridge guard bellowed from the guard house atop Hyrule castle’s outer wall. “I am the messenger who was sent to the dark lands,” the mounted man replied, “I seek shelter from the rain and bitter cold and the audience of the king of Hyrule!”

    “You may enter.”…

“What have you learned from the realm of the dark lands?” the king questioned. The king was a tall man; he wore a short crown, as well as a flowing cape that covered his formal red armor. He was a powerful man, but kind and sincere and did not abuse his power.

The messenger stood tall and alert, "Our forces have made full retreat, and General Pablo has set camp on the edge of our realm.”

“The demon Morraiya has returned from exile. He and his six followers are mounted on black steeds and have already burned down several villages and have killed dozens of innocents only in the past three days on his dark crusade.”

“This I know. What of the demons progress messenger?”, asked the King.

“The sacred realm of the essence of the gods, the Triforce, is within his reach. Our army has held him back for a matter of days now.”

“What are you trying to tell me?”, said the King very concerned.

“We can’t win! We have yet to find a warrior worthy of wielding the evil-destroying
sword, the Master sword.” The king bowed his head in desperate thought.

“With your permission, I have learned more, sire.” The messenger added. “Morraiya has found new allies....”

Looming in the shadows was Ganondorf. He saw his chance and stepped into the hall.

“Perhaps I may be of help sire?”, Ganondorf over emphasized his words and added a half bow for good measure.

“Ganondorf, I’m sure my men have control over the situation.”, the King said fearfully.

Ganondorf walked slowly towards the king of Hyrule, and in all the Kings glory and dignity he simply said “Well if Ganondorf would like to go to the battle field and...and”

    Ganondorf nodded slowly.

King swallowed hard, “,take control from General Pablo, let it be so!”

Ganondorf entered his wing of the castle. Servants placed pieces of his armor on his body. Deep in his soul a voice spoke to him.

    “Ganondorf.....take me to him.... “

Ganondorf breathed in as though replying.

“....Morriaya will not get the Triforce...he is not to be trusted”

Ganondorf stepped away from his servant. He walked to his balcony and viewed the great Hyrulian field.

    “Bring me to him...”

The purpose of the great demon Morriaya was still uncertain to Ganondorf, but little did he expect that the hero of time was gathering power.

The huge one-eyed spider dropped down from the ceiling and rose up in front of Link; it moved towards Link but Link stood fast. The creature rose up again and its eye turned red. As this happened, Link pulled out the Fairy Slingshot and aimed it. The creature collapsed as its eye was hit with a Deku seed; Link ran across and slashed it across the middle. The beast shrieked.

Link charged at the wounded Queen, leapt into the air and slayed the huge creature. It’s last breath broke it into a great blinding light. Link watched as the curse was destroyed by the light. then in one final explosion all was quiet.

Link couldn’t see anything but a stream of light where he struck down Queen Gohma, he stepped into the light and slowly ascended.

He awoke once again in front of the mighty Deku Tree. The lines imbedded in the tree’s trunk grew more rigid and the guardian of the forest seemed weak.

“Link....you have single handedly lifted the curse from me... This is what the Ganondorf was after...the Kokiri Emerald...one of three great treasures”

As the Deku Tree said this the canopy of his branches shook in the breeze and a small green, diamond-like jewel fell into Link’s hand.

“Go to Hyrule, and find princess Zelda....she...she..won’t know you but she will know why you are there. Give her the Emerald then go to Death Mountain, that is where you will find the Goron Ruby...”

The Deku Tree began to turn gray and seemed as if his face was fading into the trunk.

“I...I..thought if I lifted the curse you would be saved!”, yelled Link.

“Do not fret over my passing just continue your quest.”

“But Great Deku Tree! Where do I go after I retrieve the Goron Ruby?”

With that the Deku tree died. Almost like a sudden autumn all the leaves among his mighty branches fell to the ground. A shower of death. Link stared at his sword and shield, he knew what he had to do.

His breathing was patterned, soft and shallow. The wind blew lightly, through the ajar window of the small home. The bright lunar rays shone through the thin clouds, brightly sparkling on the ground. Voices of confusion and chaos were unsuccessfully loud through the wooden door, but the room was unnaturally quiet.

Another figure, someone who was still, sat in the corner, frozen in the soaked light from the moon. Long honey brown curls dangled loosely beyond her shoulders, the woman sitting comfortably by an open window. She watched her son's sleeping form, listening to the voices in the other room. Her emerald green eyes saddened, her expression weary and somber. The voices drowned, the sound dying with it. She ignored it, and stared out the window, towards the castle at the horizon. The dark blue of the night sky slowly, gradually shifting colors to a light peach or red. The moon was no longer bright, drenched from the rays of the sun.
The door creaked open, the light flooding the wooden floor. A man stood by the frame of the door, in travel clothing, a vibrant green color. The lady looked up, her lip trembling slightly.
"Are you leaving, Liam?" Her voice rolled lightly, showing hints of distress. His eyes bore deeply at her, as she turned her face away, averting her eyes from his gaze. He breathed heavily, a contortion of pain instantly hitting his face.

"I have no choice, Rhyn." Lowering his hand, he lifted her chin up to meet his glance. "I promise. I will come back very soon."
"Please, don't make a promise that you may not keep." Rhyn looked over at the sleeping boy, and bit her lip.
"Rhyn.." Liam sighed guiltily, and she stood up to embrace him. Brushing her finger lightly over his lip, she spoke quietly.
"When are you going?" She asked softly. He pulled back from her touch, and studied her intently.
    "At dawn."
