Since the plates and spikes on Ankylosaurs' backs are usually not intact when the fossil remains are discovered, their exact placement and orientation on the animal's back is often educated guesswork or based on other, more complete specimens. (From: jurassiraptor)

    Ocarina of Time (Chapter 5)
    By Darth Chicken

    Chapter 5

Link stared up at the huge tree. There was only one way to describe it: Massive. The tree was over forty feet tall, its trunk must have been at least twenty feet in width. Its leaves covered almost all the light from the sky above. Similar to the Lost Woods, the place was lit only with Navi's glow and with the glow of the air itself. Link could not stop staring. The tree had knots and dents in its bark that looked like a face, but other than that, it was completely smooth. The roots were twice Link's height. He stood on the hill before the gigantic tree, and said shakily, "Y- you w-wanted t-to see me, Great Deku Tree?" The Deku Tree gave the impression of smiling. "Yes," he said. "Link, I have called you here because you have a destiny. A fate, a fate greater than anyone has ever known. You are the chosen one. The one who will save Hyrule." Link pondered these words. He wanted to ask questions, but had no idea where to start.

"I.I don't understand, Great Deku Tree."

"You mean you have never wondered why I never sent you a fairy? Sit down, Link, be at ease," The tree said to him. Link sat. Navi flitted onto his shoulder. "I have much to tell you, but there is so little time. You see, there is a great evil within me. An evil that was put there by an enchantment. A spell put on me by an evil man. I would be right in assuming your slumber has been disturbed these past few nights?" Link nodded. "Link, I need your help. I need you to pass this test of courage, to banish the evil within me." Link's eyes grew wide. "M-me?" said Link. "Yes. You. You are. you are the only one." His voice sounded so weak. "Link, can you do this? Are you ready? Can you pass this test of your courage?" Link stood up, brushed off his pants. He looked at Navi. He looked at the guardian spirit of his home, in dire need of his help. He thought of Saria, how scared she was, of Mido, how angry he would be, of all his brothers and sisters in the forest, who would perish without the tree in good health, of all the cruelty in his life, of the people who had caused it, of the challenge that lay before him. And of the faith that was being put in him, his abilities.

Link made his choice. He nodded. "Yes. Yes, I can."

And with this, the young hero's destiny was sealed. There was no turning back now.

"Very well," murmured the tree. "Enter. And may the Goddesses be with you." Link had no idea who the Goddesses were, but he nodded. And entered the gaping hole that was the tree's mouth. The Deku Tree said to Navi telepathically, So, I suppose Alanai was right about him after all. He is the one. Navi nodded, smiling. No doubt in my mind.

Darkness. For a moment all Link could see was darkness. Then, as his eyes became used to the dim light, and as Navi entered the cavern with him, he was able to see. Slowly he looked around. He was in the inside of the enormous tree. Spider webs hung from the walls and ceiling, things scurried in the dark corners. Link shivered. "So, where do I go first?" Navi scanned the floor. Link had no choice but to follow her.

"Well," she said, "the evil is coming from the roots, spreading it's way up. So we need to go down. There's only one tiny complication."

    "What's that?"

    "This."

Link gasped. He was standing on a gigantic web.

Link looked over his surroundings. Then he spotted something. He looked at it for a minute then to his surprise it shimmered and moved!

    “Navi!”

    “What Link.”

    “What is that. That thing?”

Navi studied it for a second and quickly came to a conclusion.

“That’s a gold skulltula.”, Navi said, “They were once man, tormented by there greed they were turned into those beasts by the Dark Lord.”

“And who is the ‘Dark Lord’ Navi?”

Navi seemed to stop breathing for a second and then slowly began to speak.

“Link we need to get to the top of the Deku tree’s interior.”

“Why?”, said Link scared that he might get an answer.

“Well we need to break this web one way or another.”

Link looked up, the climb wouldn’t be easy. He could see Keese flying over head, and lit torches marking a path that would bring him to the top.

He pulled himself up onto the first ledge, breathing heavy he sighed, this was not going to be easy. Then a sudden jerk on his leg made him turn around, vines were quickly growing up his leg pulling him into the mighty jaws of a Baba pod. Link sliced down swiftly with his sword, the pod let out a shriek and threw more deadly vines at Link. Being pulled ever closer to the Baba’s deadly jaws, Link grabbed his shield and pried it into the pod’s mouth the plant was now gagging, purple blood spat out of its mouth. Link made one last mighty cry and chopped the Baba’s pod from its stem.

“ Huh...huh...oh man... this isn’t going to be easy.”

    “Link come on!”

“Sorry Navi, I was just trying to stop that flower from eating me!”

“A Baba plant is hardly a speck of what the Dark Lord has placed on the Deku Tree. It is Queen Gohma, we much be watchful for.”

“Aaaa...Navi? Who is Queen Gohma?”, asked Link frightened at the very thought of a ‘Queen’.

“Never mind that now! We need to break that web.”

Link and Navi continued their journey through the haunted hollows of the Deku Tree, unbelievably Link felt (for once) at ease, almost as though he knew this was his destiny.

In the darkness, two torches became alight. The hooded shadow between them raised his head and looked at the pathetic ghostly form that moved towards him across the bleak abyss. A sharp wind blew across the cavern as it kneeled before it's master.

"You failed me…again…I am not giving you another chance Ganondorf"

“Yes my Lord”, Ganondorf bow his head, “ It twas that girl my lord, she suspects something.”

    “I am ever watching Ganondorf.”

    “Yes, Lord Morraiya”

The Gerudo existed the mountain keep and saddled his steed. Fourteen other warriors from Gerudo sat amoung their horses waiting for their Kings order to return to Hyrule.

    “News from below, my Lord?”

“I will not have to play Morraiya’s stooge much longer, I have word that Lord Ganon will dismantle the demon on the blue moon.”

Ganondorf placed his black horned helmet upon his head and lead his group of thieves back towards Hyrule, were his true plots of evil were about to unfold.

They rode through the night stopping only once at Clock Town to rob a local pettaler. Ganondorf smiled, not a happy smile but one of pure evil.

Ganondorf had a secret though. He was no longer just a Gerudo of the haunted wasteland. He was complete. The form of true evil was know a parasite of his body, and Ganondorf, King of the Gerudo Thieves, could not have been a more willing host.
