    Jurassic Park V: Evolution (Part4)
    By Crisco

    Part 4:

Geniece Taylor jumped as her ass was grabbed by a Mexican soldier in fatigue. She shot him a menacing look.

“That’s enough Ricky.” Jesse Philips said, loosening his collar.

The 6 uniforms of the retrieval team were following Ingall’s secretary to his office. They all knew full well their assignment, after reading the briefings. Most of them were confident. They had read the history of Isla Sorna and were aware of all the known accounts of human “vacations” there.

Dan Camp flipped through the scrapbook containing photos of the dinosaur species, “ That is one huge lizard, “ He said in his southern accent.

“If a little boy can survive on the island alone for a month, then we sure as hell can stay on that island for a year.” Carmen said, nudging Dan.

“And I’m sure that kid didn’t have grenades.” Ricky said laughing to himself.

Jesse motioned for everyone to stay outside as he walked in to Ingall’s office.

“Ahh Private Philips” Ingalls said as he shook hands with Jesse, “ I know I can count on you.”

“You bet you can, this thing is gonna’ be a piece of cake.” Jesse smiled.

“Private, I don’t mean to question your judgment but are you sure those kids can handle this? They look like they just walked out of cop school. Even with the guy I‘m still worried.” Ingalls said pointing at the crew through the glass window.

“I couldn’t get you 5 different people my age who would be able to pull the shit they do. They’re a tightly woven group with excellent skills. I wouldn’t trust a mission to anyone else.” Philips said folding his arms.

“Alright. I trust that you’ve all read the briefing.”

    Jesse nodded.

“Well then you should be ready to go, we equipped you with two bikes, and two hummers. That should be sufficient for carrying all of your equipment, and the bomb.”

“Good then. When will we be leaving?”

“5:00, but I have something else to mentioned to you that…uh wasn’t included in the briefing.”

    “Yes…”

“Yes right,” Ingalls motioned to Geniece and seconds later she walked back with Gary and Rachel, whose arms were crossed and face beet red.

“No.” Philips blurted. “I will not take civilians.”

“We can take care of ourselves.” Rachel said straightening her blouse.

“Oh, I’m confident you can.” Philips said sarcastically.

    Rachel rolled her eyes.

“And Philips, we’ve been trying to contact survivors and people who know the island to uh, assist you. I’m sure you’ve heard of Dr. Alan Grant.”

    “No, I haven’t.”

“Well we couldn’t reach him anyway, we have come across another prospect that we are in the midst of finding right now.”

“Listen, I don’t need some ancient nut-bag scientist to hold my hand.” Philips said staring at Ingalls.

Ian Malcolm droved along the twisty road one his way home from the local bar. He had the top down in his red corvette and he was listening to oldies. His gray hairs glinted in the moon light. He was singing loudly to himself as he road in between the two lanes. There were absolutely no cars on the road. As he turned a corner an SUV almost hit him head on. Malcolm swerved back into his lane and didn’t look at the driver flipping him off. He started to chuckle to himself . The laughing grew louder as he gunned the engine and all of the sudden he stopped and slowed down. In his rear view mirror was a cop. He quickly strapped his seatbelt and took a swig of bottled water. The police put his siren on.

“Damn it.” Malcolm cussed. He slowed down, and pulled over. As he drove into the embankment another two cop cars came up ahead of him and stopped simultaneously.

“What the hell?” Malcolm said, unbuckling and turning around.

The officer approached him as sat forward again.

“ I know I was speeding and I may have had a liiiiiitle to drink but I am perfectly fine. Would you let an old man off just this once?” Malcolm said in one breath.

“Sir I need you to step out of the car.” The officer replied.

Malcolm got out and stepped towards the man.

“ I need you to follow me to the first car.”

“May I ask why?” Malcolm said cemented in place.

“You are needed by the government of the United States of America.”

“Oh, ok.” Malcolm said still “under the influence”, he followed the man into the car trying to walk as straight as possible.

Ricky, Carmen, Dan, and Mark sat playing poker outside the office. Jesse had been inside with Ingalls. Every few minutes you could hear someone raising their voice.

“Ben, want me to deal you in next hand?” Dan asked.

Ben Hume looked at his partners and shook his head. He pulled a cigarette from his pocket and lighted it.

“Excuse me sir, “ Geniece said, “No Smoking.” He looked at her and kept puffing smoke.

“Ben, What the hell, take that crap outside!” Carmen said fiercely.

“I can’t believe that shit.” she said to the guys at the table.

He flipped Carmen off as he made his way to the elevator.

Mark Reilly sat next to Ricky planning his next move. Mark was second in command after Philips. He had always been his favorite and the guys, and Carmen, always teased him for it. He had earned the spot however and managed to keep it all this time within the team.

“Why’d they pick us anyway?“ Ricky said aloud.

“Cause we’re the best they’ve got, and because we’re so young. I think it’s really because most of us don’t have families.“

Mark kept silent, he was feeling uneasy about the mission but he didn’t want to discourage the group. He knew the real reason, he knew it was because of him. Years ago he had been on the ship, the ship that transported the infamous tyrannosaur from Isla Sorna to San Diego. He was there when the raptors ambushed them while still in port at Sorna. He was stuck under a fallen box the whole time, but he had watched his partners, his friends get eaten alive and torn apart. He watched through the window of the control room the man that locked himself in, determined to get the ship out to sea. He watched the raptors attack the room and bulletproof glass, he watched the lead raptor…open the door. The scene unfolds like he is still there every time he thinks about it. It remains fresh in his mind all these years. This is why they chose his team, it was him and he knew it. What saved his life is know the reason his life is threatened. He couldn’t help but doubt himself constantly. How prepared was he to help his team on this particular mission? What sort of real experience had he had with these monsters. None. Mark wiped his forehead and rubbed his eyes.

“Mark you don’t look so hot.” Dan said.

    “I just need some water.”

Mark got up from the table and made for the bathroom. His hands were in his face when he left the table and he accidentally bumped into an unusually tall, lanky man wearing a leather suit.

“Sorry.” Mark said still walking towards the bathroom.
