    Warhammer: The Coming of Chaos
    Part 1: Prologue

It all began as the God-like Old Ones fled from the world, leaving the elder races of Elves, Dwarfs, Lizardmen and Dragons to fend for themselves. With the departure of the Old Ones came them the arrival of the four Chaos Gods, Khorne the blood god, Tzeentch the magic god and Lord of Change, Slaanesh the god of perverted beauty and Nurlge the god of death, disease and pestilence.
With these gods came the foul daemons, creatures powered by the new form of energy created by Chaos called magic. None could stand up against the daemons, for their bloodthirsty ways were just too powerful. First to stand up against the daemons were the Slann, powerful wizards and the mightiest of the Old Ones’ creations. With the armies of the Lizardmen, they marched to face the daemons.
Unfortunately, the Slann lost their battle and most of them were destroyed. The remaining Slann and Lizardmen fled to the jungle continent of Lustria. The next to go to war were the Elves. Led by the brave and valiant Aenarion, who wielded the ancient sword of Khaine, they gained many a victory. Thus topping the favour, though by a small fraction.
The only way to defeat Chaos and its daemons was for Aenarion to sacrifice himself to create a vortex on the Elven realm of Ulthuan. This vortex would suck up the daemons and keep them trapped forever. Aenarion and the greatest of the Elf mages were lost, sacrificing themselves to create the vortex.
Centuries later, men appeared. During their awakening, the ancient civilizations of Elves and Dwarfs were flourishing. Though this was not to last. A huge and terrible war broke out between the two races, causing the Elves to return to Ulthuan and the Dwarfs to their mountain strong holds.
With the arrival of men, the Chaos Gods now had new followers. Corrupting the northern tribes, powerful warriors were created and the few most powerful gained immortality and the gift of daemon hood. The first was to gain this gift was the being known as Be’lakor. With his new found powers, Be’lakor became cocky and began comparing himself with the Chaos Gods themselves.
Tzeentch cursed Be’lakor by riding him of his body. He was now merely a spirit, the Harbinger of Chaos. Be’lakor was cursed by having to crown Chaos’ favoured with the Crown of Damnation. This was to mock him and to show him that no one was just as powerful as the gods.
Thousands of years later, a new mortal arouse to gain the title Chosen of Chaos. His name was Morkar. A great and terrible war followed, with many men losing their lives on both sides. But Morkar was finally stopped. Sigmar, the barbaric leader of the Unberogen tribe killed Morkar and stopped the dreadful incursion. Sigmar then went on to create an Empire in the South. In due time, he began to be worshipped as a god himself by the people of the Empire.
For fifteen hundred years, more Chaos champions arose and tried to invade the southern realms. But a champion always arose to stop them, and succeeding in the process. For over a hundred years no mortal has arose to claim the title of Chosen of Chaos, thus leaving the world relatively safe. But now sings point toward the worse.
In the lands of the mortals, the wise and the mad already recognise the dire signs and portents that presage the return of Chaos. The world once more teeters on the brink of ultimate destruction. Those few ancient Loremasters familiar with the forbidden volumes dedicated to the incursions of Chaos recognise that these invasions have become increasingly frequent since their beginnings some 7,000 years earlier, and they fear that the day is near approaching when they will occur every decade, then every year, until a time comes when the world will be awash in one constant, never ending incursion. Already, the people of the Empire are praying desperately for one to come, one to stand against the dread forces of Chaos, and one to challenge the seemingly unstoppable conquest of the new Chosen of Chaos, Archaon.
