    InGen High part 22
    By CeratosPit

Sarah, Nick, Roland and the three other kids ran into the cafeteria as fast as they could into the hallway. The first two were behind the group because they were carrying the injured Ian Malcolm. And closing in on them was the second Ceratosaur.

The doors to the cafeteria were wide and unlocked, so unlike her counterpart trying to break into the girls bathroom, this Ceratosaurus had no problem following it’s prey. But when she stormed into the dining hall, they were nowhere in sight. Which isn’t to say that they were gone. Unlike Baryonyx, the Ceratosaurs had an excellent sense of smell, and there was no place the frightened, sweating humans could hide from her.

The seven teens all hid under the same lunch table in the middle of the cafeteria. Nobody thought it was a wise move but they were pretty desPerate. The dinosaur hadn’t found out where they were yet, but from the way she was sniffing the air, they guess that it wouldn’t be too long. Roland often went on hunting trips with his father, and every so often they would come across game that could hunt them as well. That’s exactly what this creature was doing. Whatever it was. “Sarah?” he whisPered, “Do you know what that thing--”

“Ceratosaurus nasicornis.” she whisPered back. “And yes. It’ll figure out where we are pretty soon.”

Ian, meanwhile, was looking at the kitchen counter where the food was served. There weren’t any meals visible, but the condiments shelf was most likely stocked. Without taking his eyes off of it, he asked Sarah, “Do Ceratosaurs like hot sauce?”

Sarah looked at him quizzically. “Well, Ian, I have know grounds to base this hypothesis on, but I’m going to guess no.”

“No time like the present to find out, then.” Ian said. “I have a plan, but we’ll need a distraction.” Ian’s sentence was finished by an unpleasant slurping sound. He looked over to Nick Van Owen, who was gelling up his hair. “What are you doing?” Ian asked.

“I hear when you go to heaven, you look their like you do when you die.” Nick explained while running his fingers through his now sPikey black hair. “And I wanna nail as many angels as possible!”

Roland nodded. “In that case, give me some. I intend to keep my beautiful, flowing main in the afterlife as well!”

But Ian grabbed the bottle of hair gel from Nick’s hand and smiled. “No one’s going to die. I think we just found our distraction.” his smile faded away. “It could be dangerous, though.”

“In that case,” Nick advised, “Get one of the background kids to do it.”

“Good idea.” Ian agreed. “Mikey. C’mere, and listen to me carefully.”

Out in the hallway, five velociraptors were exploring the second floor hoping to find any small or injured dinosaurs they could prey on. But what they saw was just as appetizing. About twenty yards ahead of them, little Billy Brennan burst out of a door, took a look at them and ran back inside. The humans were in the building! And most likely, the rest were behind that same door.

From inside the bathroom, the doorknob could be seen turning. It was eerie to think that the raptors were just as capable as the kids inside but that what made these dinosaurs different from the rest. When the door finally opened, the alpha raptor peeked inside. Their scent was fresh but there was nobody inside. A scout raptor walked past the stalls while keeping his head down to see if he could find any feet in them.

Inside the stalls, the kids paired up and stood on the toilet seats. Al with El, Mandy with Billy, Nash with Cooper and Paul stood reading an issue of Fat Hairy Girls Monthly with his colorful imaginary rodent, Kichapu on his shoulder. “I would put a hurtin’ on that bitch!“ Kichapu said. Nobody made a sound. The scout raptor smelled them, but the scents could have just been recent. He tried pushing Billy and Mandy’s door open, but it was locked from the inside. They were growing very nervous anyway.

The raptor then turned his attention to the broken window. Suppose the humans had climbed out? He briskly went over to the window and looked out to see the last sight he would ever know. The insides of sPinosaurus’ mouth. The monster chomped up the scout raptor and pulled him out the window. Upon seeing this, the four remaining raptors at the door fled back into the hallway.

Ceratosaurus was getting awfully close to the kids hiding under the table back in the cafeteria. She lowered her head on one end of the table to see if anyone was beneath it. But before her eyes sank to floor level, she sPotted Mikey run out from the other end.

“Uh, Hello.” Mikey said, squeezing the contents of the hair gel bottle onto the floor. “I don’t suppose you’re smart enough to understand anything I’m saying, so I might as well just tell you that I’m only a distraction. And that you’re ugly. And stupid, too. You’re ugly and stupid.”

When Mikey finished talking, the Ceratosaur went around the table and went straight for him. Mikey ran, leaving behind freshly squeezed hair gel on the floor. The greedy dinosaur did not realize that she was being tricked, so when she slipped and fell on the hair gel, she nearly knocked herself out.

This was the signal the rest of the kids waited for. Mikey joined them as they made a mad dash for the condiments shelf behind the counter where they pulled out three bottles of Lava Sauce and smeared it all over themselves. Their clothes, skin and freshly gelled hair began to reek of a sPicy flavor.

When Ceratosaurus brought herself back up, she made a b-line for the kids behind the counter. This time of course, she was more careful of where she stepped. She was quite eager to eat the children, who appear to have been frozen with fear to her, but something changed about them. Their smell, it was different. Not at all very appetizing, but she knew what these things were and that the ones she and her pack ate in the gym were delicious. She stood over them debating for nearly a minute.

Ian was getting impatient. “Roland,” he said with clenched jaws. “Throw her your jersey.”

Roland who was still in uniform shook his head in protest, but Ian nodded persistently. Roland decided to follow their unofficial leader’s order. He quickly pulled off his jersey and wrapped it up as the dinosaur looked on. He threw it up to her face, and with lightning quick reaction time, she devoured the garment. Seconds later, her eyes widened as she realized her mouth was burning. As she roared in pain, Ceratosaurus sPewed fire out of her mouth which engulfed Roland and knocked him on his ass. Ceratosaurus turned tail and ran back out of the cafeteria.

In the girls bathroom, Al and the gang stepped out of their stalls cautiously. They were all silent for a moment until Nash sPoke. “Damn, you girls got toilet seat cushions and Glade plug-ins in your bathroom? That’s bullshit!”

“Sure.” El said. “We also get classical music stations to listen to.” El turned a knob on the wall, and the silent melodies of Chopin filled the restroom.

“That’s groovy.” Paul said. “Ya think if I got a little nip and tuck job downstairs, I could start using this place?”

“Sure.” Mandy told him. “But why stop there? You’d probably look great in a pair of C-cups.”

“So you DO find me sexy!” Paul said. “I knew it!”

Mandy rolled her eyes. “Suck my ass, Paul.”

Al opened the bathroom door ever so slightly and peeked out. “Okay, the raptors are gone. We better continue heading back upstairs.”

“But what about Ian and the others?” Billy asked.

“They’re probably already upstairs too. It was Ian’s idea, we’ll probably meet them there.”

One at a time they crept silently out the door and walked down the hall. “See?” Al told them. “Nothing to worry about.” Just then, ten yards ahead, Ceratosaurus flew out of the cafeteria, froze the kids with terror as she ran past them and leapt down the stairs. All they heard was the sPlash of the large creature hitting the water in the flooding first floor. All the kids stood absolutely still. A look of fear and ‘what the hell just happened’ disPlayed ontheir faces.

“I, uh, I--I gotta go back into the bathroom.” Cooper said.

Immediately, everybody except for Mandy agreed with Cooper and went into their bathrooms, leaving the punk girl out by herself. “Bunch of pussies.” she said. Two minutes later, after some collective flushing sounds, everyone stepped back out.

“I wonder what could’ve scared that Ceratosaur like that?” El pondered.

“I don’t know.” Al said. “But I’m up for finding out. It might help us get out of this building in one piece!”

“What if it was a bigger, meaner dinosaur?” Billy inquired.

“That’s a bridge we’ll cross when we get to it.” Al told him, leading the way.
