NODP - Wake Up (Part 3)

Tod watched as he open fires on the wooden door, knocking out most of it. They all stand looking at the door. Then, it came forward. The face of a man with dozens of ugly scars and horns coming out of the eye sockets.
Jack shot again, this time it hit the creature’s face knocking it back. It screeched in horror and leapt out back into the woods. Tod couldn’t believe what he just saw. Everything was like… a nightmare.
Jack and Debra sighed with relief after they heard the creature run away. But when they were least expecting it, a truck plowed into the doorway and wall coming right at them. Debra and Jack leaped over to the side, but Tod just stood there. Seconds before it could have ran over him, he dove into the other room. The truck kept colliding inside the cabin till it finally came to the backyard of the house.
Jack cocked his gun watching the truck coming back for another drive through. He aimed his rifle at the creature’s head and shot. The truck immediately stopped and a continuos beep of a horn entered their ears.
“Pay attention, these things usually never die,” said Debra holding onto Jack.
The beeping stopped abruptly. Tod ran out of the cabin frantically.
“Come back, Tod!” Jack screamed.
The truck sped at Jack and Debra. Jack aimed the rifle to the creature again, but by then the truck was almost to him. They jumped out of the way as it went back in and out of the cabin. The truck kept moving towards Tod who was now a hundred yards away down the path. The truck gained more speed. Tod decided to pick up more pace, thinking only for some kind fo hiding spot. A cliff took form right in front of him. He turned back around, frightened, facing the vehicle’s front wait for it to hit him any second. Then, he found the strength to roll on the ground and out of the way of the truck. The vehicle kept movie till it had fallen down the cliff and exploded into the rocks below. Tod crept over and looked down, seeing fire blazing like an inferno. He blew a sigh of relief.
CHAPTER 2: THE REAWAKENING
Tod spent the next hours in the cabin, recalling all his memories of child hood and telling them what he dreamed the past four years. Soon he wanted to know more about the Neods.
“Why are they here? What’s their purpose,” asked a shaky Tod Jenkins.
“We don’t know, for the most part they look to be here to destroy us. These things came unexplained, from the ground. The whole world is fighting back as well as trying to keep what we had in America. The right to live here and be free. We’re fighting them the best we can.” Debra said.
“Can these things…talk to us?”
“Oh…well…through our minds. It’s weird, you’ll see when you get closer to one.” Jack said.
“I don’t think I want to get closer.”
Tod paced back in forth. He checked the pantry, no food. This place was empty.
“Nothing here to eat?” Tod asked.
“No,” said Jack leaning over his rifle, cleaning it.
Debra watched his every move, then, she stood up looking at him.
“Jack, could you leave us alone…for a couple of minutes that is?” Debra asked.
“Sure.” Jack said walking out the door with his gun. He shut it lightly.
“I’ve missed you, Tod.”
“You used to be my girlfriend…right?”
“Yes, until the accident and the coma. I’ve missed you so much.” She grabbed him and held him tightly.
Tod was kind of exasperated, he didn’t know what to say or do. He used his instincts on it and reached down for her chin and lifted it up. He bent over and patiently kissed her lips, softly though, showing off the loving courtship of the two, which was very deep.
His attentions were focused only on her, and just when he was about to kiss her again, he saw her eyes bulge out a little and her puplis turn red for just a split second. His expression turned awkward. She tugged and hugged him again. He remembered something. “They look human until you get closer to them, then they show off their true self.”
He looked at her again, seeing the horns pop out of her eyes. The eye balls fell to the floor bouncing. Blood spattered on his face. He screamed in terror.
“Don’t you like that kiss?” The creature said in a squealing voice.
Tod fell to the floor.
“I’ve been waiting all this time. Ever since I killer the real Debra, I’ve been waiting…Waiting to kill you off!”
Jack busted down the door and shot at the creature knocking a whole his its stomach. It fell to the floor lifeless.
“I always thought something was weird about that girl. First I was thinking she was a lesbian.” Jack laughed.
Tod was disgusted about Jack’s since of humor. Jack wiped off his smiling face and watched as a group of Neods were trying to break through the cabin.
“Never did have a good way with woman, eh? Take this gun.” Jack said throwing a pistol to Tod.
They both watched their backs as they walked up the steps to the second floor. Tod shot at an arm that just popped out of the door. It fell to the floor not connected to the arm. He shot again.
Upstairs they took the liberty at opening a bag and setting up the bomb.
“This is nuts. How are we going to get out here,” Asked Tod.
“Just jump out the window. There is no other way.”
“Fine.”
Jack set the bomb. Set to explode in twelve seconds.
“Ok, run!”

Tod runs over and struggles with the window. He finally gets it open.

Tod jumps and falls on the ground hard. He awaits Jack. By now all the Neods had taken over the house.

Jack watched as a Neod comes into view. It snarls at him. “Merry Christman mother fucker.”

Jack jumps out the window.

The house explodes with a big bang, knocking out windows and such. The screams of the Neods grown louder as the cabin is engulfed with fire and smoke.
Just up ahead, police cars drive towards the scene and the officers get out to see what had happened.
“What a rush. And I thought this was all a dream.” Tod said.
“Well we definitely got hurt, eh?”
“I guess we did.”
They turn around to see the officers have horns protruding out of their eye sockets. They come forth roaring at the two and raise their clawed hands in the air.
TOD WOKE UP.
