Jurassic Park IV: Evolution PART 5
    By Carnotaur3

    They kept going.

Barron got up just as the female raptor jumped in the air towards him. Barron jumped out of the way falling beside the catwalk then grabbing a steel handle. He was on the outside of the catwalk.

The raptor growled at him and was beginning to strike when Barron let go of the handle and fell.

He ended up on another catwalk. His back stinging in pain.

    ELLIE’S CATWALK:

Ellie ran in the darkeness. Her breathing harsh. Then, out of the blue, she ran into something. She got up immediately. It was Ben, his expression looked like horror.

    BEN
    Go, it’s right behind us.

A scream echoed the catwalk and then the catwalk trembled. They both ran. Another female raptor fell down from the overhead catwalk. It’s sickle–sharp claws digging into Ben’s stomach. The raptor was chewing on Ben, and Ben was on top of Ellie. She couldn’t get Ben off her. The raptor noticed her in a second. It slowly progressed to her.

    BARRON’S CATWALK:
He got up just in time to hear Ellie’s screams. He ran on the catwalk and, then, right in front of him was a rifle. Must have been left there a long time ago. He reached for it.

    He checked it.

Still bullets in it. Enough to get them out of this hell hole.

Barron continued to run down the catwalk.

    ELLIE’S CATWALK:

The raptor snapped at her behind Ben. Then it flung Ben’s body to the side so it could have clear shot at Ellie.

The raptor heard a clang on the catwalk and looked up to see Barron with a rifle in his hand.

Barron shot the head of the raptor. Blood splattered everywhere, even on Ellie’s face. He helped her up and ran up the catwalk.

    BILLY, and GRANT’S CATWALK:

Billy and Grant ran smack into Throne.

    THORNE
Hey guys, there’s a ladder over here that leads to outside. Follow me.

Billy and Grant followed. Throne jumped up onto the ladder. Grant looked up. There sure was light up above.

    GRANT
    Come on Billy!

A male raptor speeded up to Billy, as he was climbing the ladder.

    BILLY
    Ahh…
Billy’s foot was in the raptor’s mouth. Billy started shaking his foot. Finally the raptor had let go. But the war was not over.

He proceeded to climb up to Billy. As they climbed, they found the light. Yes, they saw the outside world. It hurt their eyes but they could see it.

    EXT. JUNGLE – AFTERNOON

Throne saw Ellie and Barron run outside just as he got out of the small space. He helped Grant out then, Grant helped Billy out just as the raptor’s head came into view in the small open space. It peaked out and tried to snap at them. It’s body was too big to get out of the space and it stayed there calling for help. Of course, it would be a while before the other raptors could get to it.

But that wasn’t on the group’s minds. They ran out into the jungle.

Thorne kept running, but in a different direction.

    BARRON
    Thorne! Get back here!

Still Throne kept running. His feet scampering in the grass. Then, he met his match.

A velociraptor stood in front of him. He turned and ran the other way. The raptor didn’t follow, just snarled and, in a way, smiled.

Thorne came crashing down a slope and into a muddy ground. His face caked with mud.

He slowly lifted his head up and opened his eyes. Three raptors were standing around him. Their faces in delight. Their drool hanging off their mouth. And now that got what they came for!

One of the raptor’s kicked Thorne in the face. His face was full of blood now. Making it hard for him to see out of his eyes. Then the raptor took a hold of his head with it’s mouth ripping it apart off his neck.

    Blood poured into the mud!
    EXT. JUNGLE – AFTERNOON

Barron was running and screaming the same time.

    BARRON
    THORNE! THORNE!

    BILLY
Too late, Mr. Barron. We need to get out of here.

Over in the clouds a storm was brewing.

EXT. PLAIN OF DINOSAURS – AFTERNOON (Turning to stormy weather)

The group headed toward a field of herbivores. They were minding there own business, until…

Behind the group a Tyrannosaurus Rex ran after a Brachiosaurus. The Brachiosaur threw it’s tail at the gapping mouth, sending the Tyrannosaurus back. But the Rex wasn’t giving up that easy. He ran after the herd.

The group looked back just in time to see a herd of different herbovores running towards them. Iguanodons bumped into Grant, but Grant regained balance. But then the Brachiosaurs were stomping next to Ellie and Billy. Billy was almost crushed but he kept running.

They followed into the trees, their hearts racing. Grant grabbed on to the first tree he could climb. The tree held. And as he climbed he helped the others up it as well.

They all were now in the tree when the Tyrannosaur came into view right in front of them. It snapped at a Triceratops and, then, finally, took it down.

    GRANT
Stay in this tree. Don’t leave.

Barron looked at Grant. Grant shook his head say, “NOT NOW”.

Ellie turned to Grant, her eyes in a content awe. She wasn’t all that afraid anymore, neither was Grant. And that’s when Grant realized, he was awe stricken by the Rex, which was now feeding on the Trike.

    GRANT
You take a dinosaur out of it’s time, it still acts the same. The very thing that affects the rex and any other creature. Instinct! Nothing stops it. Nothing will stop it. It’s there till the end. Our instinct right now is more different though, but still has the same objective.

    BARRON
    What’s the objective?

    Grant smiled.

    GRANT
    Survive.

    EXT. JEEP – AFTERNOON

Lewis Dodgson’s jeep rolled through the trail.

INT. JEEP – AFTERNOON (Few seconds later)

Lewis, still clutching the steering wheel, looked over towards King. It had been awhile and their search for Dr. Grant’s group turned up nothing.

    KING
We might as well call it off! No need to search for something that might as well be dead.

    DODGSON
Henry, when you have an objective, and one objective alone, you hunt it down or it’ll hunt you down.

    King rolled his eyes.

    DODGSON (cont’d)
I never forget why I’m here, you seem to do. You take things for granted. I don’t. What’s different between you and me is that I have all the cards. And you, basically don’t.

    KING
If you care so much for this, then you get out of this jeep, and run through a swamp, or a feeding ground. I don’t care what you do. But if you don’t do something quick, you’d be contradicting yourself. You want your group. Then, go get them.

    Dodgson stopped the jeep.

    DODSGON
For once, in your hellish life, you seem to be right!

    EXT. JUNGLE – SUNSET

The group walked till they couldn’t walk anymore. They sat down near a large toppled tree.

    Barron finally spoke.

    BARRON
(To Billy) If we reach the lagoon, is there a chance some Costa Rican’s might have some kind of communication there.

    BILLY
Maybe… Of course I never checked, when I was there.

    BARRON
    I hope so.

    ELLIE
    We all do!

Billy looked to see a large cliff like slope that started from the ground to the top of another ground, just 25 ft. up! The cliff went on forever to where they couldn’t see anymore. They looked again at the cliff. Yes, indeed, it would take forever to try to find a place up it.

From the sky came dark grayish looking clouds, full of rain it seemed. And it was heading their way.

Ellie looked to see a river, not fast at all, but kind of calm. And then on the other side there was another cliff.

    ELLIE
Maybe we need to go into the river. It doesn’t look that deep.

    BARRON
(To Grant) Maybe she’s right Dr. Grant! Hat you think?

    GRANT
There’s no other way. Lead the way Mr. Barron.

They followed him into the river, just as it started to dribble out some rain in the air. It plopped on the water. It wasn’t deep at all in the river. It at least, went up to their stomach.

    Just then, lightning flashed.

    BILLY
Maybe we better get out of here. We need to do this afterward.

    ELLIE
By then, it’ll be too late.

    BILLY
    TO LATE FOR WHAT?

Ellie didn’t say anything, she just kept walkeing slowly in the murky water. Two cliffs on each side, Barron knew they could never climb them themselves.

    EXT. RIVER – STORMY NIGHT

The winds were picking up. Grant saw that the river was getting deeper, and still the cliff was running along the side of the river. By this time, he had remembered something.

    GRANT
    Mr. Barron! Come here!

    Barron walked to him.

    GRANT
I just remembered, when I looked at the map, I saw that the cliffs don’t end till the river ends. But the cliffs curve to a cave. So we have to climb it, if we want to reach the lagoon.

Barron was not sure about it, but, then, finally gave in.

    BARRON
    Ok, but how. Oh shit!

    GRANT
    What?

    BARRON
I just remembered, I have a rope in my bag.

Barron took off his back pack. And Unzipped it. Water seeped through the bag, but he didn’t care. He took out a rope and through the bag back on his back.

    BARRON
Use the grappling hook over it. There! Go there!

Barron pointed to a cliff that was shorter to climb.

    BARRON
    That one is shorter!

    GRANT
    Are you sure about this?

Barron stood, looking at Grant. The rain dripping off his chin.

    BARRON
    Positive.

Thunder crackled through the air as they swam in the river. The river had gotten deeper now. At least 12 feet deep.

Grant found a spot that was shallow by the cliff and threw the rope over the cliff.

He pulled it until it hooked on a very heavy rock in the ground.

    GRANT
    Yes.

He looked over his shoulder at Ellie.

    GRANT
    Ellie, you first!

She grabbed the rope and was climbing up without any hesitation. She wanted out of Costa Rica more than any of them did.

As she climbed Billy was about to grab the rope, when suddenly a splash of water was heard. It sounded like a giant foot had dropped into it. Of course, Billy knew he wasn’t to far from the truth. And was about to climb when he saw the rocks move slightly.

Barron and Grant saw it too. Ellie, though, was still putting one hand above the other.

    GRANT
    ELLIE, FASTER!

She looked back to see the rocks form a carnivorous body. A dinosaur. A Carnotaurus.

It’s bloody blind eye glancing at them as if it saw them with it.

It jumped up and splashed in the river towards Ellie. It did not notice the other three humans.

Ellie climbed faster. She was only 10 feet high when the Carnotaur snapped at her helpless body. She flung from side to side, each time escaping the carnivore’s grasp of its jaws. The Carnotaur finally snapped and missed her. It snapped on to the rocks. The rocks lost their spaces and caved it. Ellie saw that a hole, or small cave had formed. She jumped in it before the dinsoaur even noticed she had moved.

The Carnotaur snapped for Ellie but it couldn’t get it’s head through the small hole.

    Billy was yelling down below.

    BILLY
    I’LL GET HER!
The Carnotaur heard his yells and looked down to see Billy. Billy’s face frightened. He immediately swam back, trying to get far from the dinosaur.

But the Carnotaurus was not going to pass up a free meal. It flung its body forward to Billy, but was too late. It snapped its jaws shut on water.

It, then, proceeded to stomp on Billy with it’s foot.

Grant knew it was up to him and him alone!

    GRANT
Barron, go to the rope and climb, I’ll distract it.

Barron swam to the rope. Ellie was still in the cave, safe and sound.

    Grant waved his arms aorund.

    GRANT
    Hey! COME AND GET ME.

The Carnotaur didn’t even glance at him, just kept stomping. Billy was in the water. Deep in the water, trying to escape the foots dangerous plop.

Grant saw a rock, and snatched it up. The Carnotaur roared through the air in irritation as a rock hit him in the head.

    GRANT
COME AND GET ME, YOU ONE EYE SHIT HEAD!

It roared and ran in the river towards Grant. Suddenly the rapids of the river grew strong and carried Grant away.

The Carnotaur followed behind him, snapping at his body. It couldn’t reach him though, the waves were too much. But iut kept following him down the river.

Billy saw the Carnotaur and Grant disappear into the storm. Billy couldn’t believe. Grant was surely dead.
Ellie saw it happen too. Her face had a frown. “He’s really dead”, she thought.

Barron had no words to say. He simply grabbed the rope in his hand.

    BARRON
Come on, we need to get going.

Billy was looked down to the water. Then, he went to climb up the rope with Barron.

    EXT. JUNGLE – MORNING

The rain had cleared up, and Dodgson and King were now on their search for Grant’s group.

They noticed a river that came in and formed a creek. In the creek a body laid. It was hard to tell what it was at the time. Dodgson went over to it.

It was human. It looked like Grant!

    KING
    Is it Grant?

Dodgson examing the body closely and lifted the head up.

    It was Alan Grant.

    DODGSON
    Yeah. He looks dead.

Grant’s mouth opened and water poured out like a faucet. He finally coughed up all the water and looked up to see King and Dodgson.
