    PART 2

CHAPTER 3: THE GREATEST DISCOVERY OF OUR TIME

Dr. Baron sped off, along with Dr. Kirsten, leaving dirt spreading through the air. He was very excited about what Detective Drinnan had found that was extraordinary. "I guarantee he found a new dinosaur! The thought is running through my blood!" said Dr. Baron. "Calm down, Sam," replied Dr. Kirsten. He just panted as the wind howled through their ears.

    Meanwhile...

    HEREDIA -

Detective Drinnan was walking around an open area. He's been there for an hour. Beside him, was a black tarp covering a large structure. "Damn it, where are they," muttered Drinnan. He then heard an engine roaring through behind him. He looked and saw a Chevy Avalanche pull up. He sighed as a person got out of the car. An F.B.I. badge shone from his belt. "Oh, Christ, Knox," said Drinnan. The person that was walking towards him was Christopher Allen Knox, an expert agent from the FBI

"Hello there, Drinnan, we meet once again, I herd that you found something extraordinary, so, what is it," said Knox.

"Sorry, Knox, I don't put up with you agents," replied Drinnan. "Oh, all right, have it your way. I say this thing you've found is a fake, I say it's nothing new..." started Knox.

"I say, you're full of shit, Knox," interrupted Drinnan. Suddenly, another car pulled up, this time, it was Joseph Conn.

Joseph got out of his 4x4 and walked towards Drinnan with a map where he and the Mexicans went on the jeep trail. He shook the map, without saying anything, and pointed out that they started somewhere near Cancun, not far from Costa Rica.

"We started here," Joseph pointed with his finger, landing on Cancun. "...And we ended here, he pointed on the edge of Costa Rica, which there, laid the jungle area.

"Well, I'll be damned," began Drinnan. "What," replied Joseph, looking for his answer. "...You didn't travel that far, did you?," finished Drinnan.

"No. We stopped at the area where the sightings have happened! This is the area where Lopez disappeared," yelled Joseph.

"All right! I got your point," replied Drinnan. Yet, now, another vehicle pulled up. It was a Ford Bronco truck. Two doors opened, and finally, there, was Dr. Baron and Dr. Kirsten.

"Finally, you've arrived," yelled Drinnan, excitingly.

"Well, it was an hour and a half drive. We spared 30 minutes by taking a shortcut.” Said Dr. Kristen.

"Good, oh yes, I forgot! Dr. Baron, Dr. Kristen, this is Joseph Con, and this is Agent Christopher Knox, of the FBI," said Drinnan. They shook hands and greeted each other.

"So, what's with the tarp?," said Baron.

"Oh, this is the "thing" I found. It's really unbelievable," replied Drinnan.

He pulled the tarp off and Dr. Baron and Dr. Kirsten were shocked and surprised when they saw a dead Carnotaurus sastrei. Dr. Baron gasped and examined it. Lying on the ground, it was 6 feet in length and 5 feet tall. The 3-inch long teeth were surrounding its jaws. Blood was smeared all over its mouth. It looked like it was poisoned, since it's veins could be seen in a purple color underneath its belly.

"I can’t believe it!” Dr. Kristen said, her mouth dropping to the floor. Dr. Baron was still as a statue, not making a single move.

“This is…incredible!” He said with a twinkle in his eye. Drinnan leaned in closer to the body and looked up to Dr. Baron.

“Do you know what this is, Dr. Baron?” Drinnan asked in confusion.

“Are you kidding me? It’s a dinosaur. A Carnotaurus sastrei to be exact. A late cretaceous carnivore and this one looks to be young.”

“Dr. Baron, dinosaurs are dead. Only ones that were alive were on those islands. Don’t tell me this is a dinosaur.” Drinnan said, making a scene of himself. Dr.Baron put his hands to his side.

“Are you disputing your expert? You asked me to come and I answer your shit question. Now believe me when I say this is a dinosaur. Who knows how it got here, but I’m interested in how you came across this.” Dr. Baron said, getting a little angry at his rudeness toward him.

“Ok, it’s a dinosaur. That’s even better…I guess! Ok, this is what happened. I’m following a missing person’s tracks, I look over and there it is clear as day. A gigantic lizard.”

Knox raved on. “It’s still probably a shitty fake.”

“You stay out of this!” Drinnan exclaimed.

Kristen spoke up. “You guys stop arguing. This is one of the world’s greatest discoveries. Dr. Baron, should we load this up in the truck, take it back to the site. We can study it and…”

“Not so fast, Dr. Kristen. We don’t have to keep this to ourselves. Plus, we need more help getting this sucker on there.” Dr. Baron said with a smirk.

Joseph finally announced, “You sure are having a great day, Mr. Drinnan.”

CHAPTER 4: JOINING THE NEW GUYS

Heading up the dirt path to the tent of the dig site, Dr. Baron and Dr. Kristen looked to their truck, watching their diggers unloading the filthy carcass.

As they went into the tent, a man poked his head in. Dr. Baron was just about to sit in his chair when the man spoke to him.

“Dr. Sam Baron?” The man asked.

“I’m he, do you need something? I’m kinda busy…” Dr. Baron explained.

“All I need is a little of your time. Doctor, I’ve read up on everything about you. Your bones included! The fact is I want you to take a guest tour of my facility over in the Cord Central area. Can’t name the exact location, but we need you there. Of course you can—“

Dr. Baron interrupted, “I’m sorry I didn’t get your name.”

The man’s face brightened up, and with a twinkle in his eye, just like the one Dr. Baron had, he gave his name.

“Greg Palmer, owner of Palmer Scientific Studies. You heard?”

    “Not really familiar with that.”

    Greg handed him his card.

“Well, my facility is in that area, as I said before, and I need a group of people to take a little tour of it. See the new animals and—“

“Not really possible. I’ve just found a new Carnotaurus skeleton and we think it might be a complete version—“

“I guarantee you that when you get to the facility you’ll forget all about this. Do I have to pay money for you to go, or what?” Palmer said with a smirk.

    “Money means nothing to me.”

Dr. Kristen tapped Palmer on the back. He turned to her, his smirk fading to curiosity.

“Who’s this lovely lady?” Said Palmer.

“Mr. Palmer, this is Dr. Kristen. She’s my companion.” Dr. Baron said.

“What is this facility have?” Dr. Kristen said as she shook Palmer’s hand.

    “Animals, Dr. Kristen.”

She cocked an eyebrow up. Her curiosity was building up.

    “Rare animals.” Ended Palmer.

Dr. Baron became sweaty. What is it this man is hiding. Could it have something to do with the body that Detective Drinnan discovered? What if the man was an agent, trying to keep it under wraps. This man could be dangerous. Dr. Baron found out how to speak again.

“What’s in it for us?” Dr. Baron asked.

“You’ll get a kick out of it, that’s all.” Palmer explained.

Dr. Baron sent out a forceful smile.

“I’ll tell you what, how about you find a couple of your volunteers to come up with you, they’ll probably love it as well.”

Dr. Baron felt a little guilty of his last thought. The man wasn’t bad as he thought before.

“We might just do that.” Said Dr. Baron.

“Of course, Dr. Kristen is already invited!” Palmer said.

Palmer leaned over, took Dr. Kristen’s hand, and kissed it. Then he proceeded back down the grassy path.

“I’ll have a chopper come pick you up at 1:00!” Palmer yelled as he kept walking down.

Dr. Kristen waved at him. He acknowledged back.
“I’m not easily charmed,” said Dr. Kristen as she walked to the tent.

Dr. Baron watched as his helpers dragged the carcass, which was still under the sheet, into a big cage. One thing was for certain, that was a real dinosaur, but where to hide it was haunting his thoughts. He will bring it out to the world, but not yet. First, he needed to find loyal people. Some of them might be going with him to the facility to see… Well, whatever Greg Palmer had.

Only two he could think of, and they were Anne O’ Malley and Kyle Johnson.

    CHAPTER 5: A NOISE

Agent Knox, Joseph Con, and Detective Drinnan sat on rocks next to the dark spot where the dead animal was. It was damn hot in the jungle, and Knox decided to pour upon himself with the little amount of water he had in his bottle.

“Dehydration…happens a lot around here,” said Knox.

Drinnan rolled his eyes. Then, with a forceful attitude, blurted out to him.

“Just tell me why the hell you’re here.” Drinnan said standing back up.

“Drinnan, I’m gonna be frank. I’m here to find an unauthorized facility somewhere in these jungles. First off I have to know where this thing is.”

    “Under whose authority?”

“Don’t give me that shit. This is not ok with the Costa Rican government which is why I'm here. We think they are also carrying something that’s not supposed to be here.”

    “What’s that?”
    “I’m sorry but that’s classified.”

“Oh, come on, Knox! We might not be good friends but you can tell me something like this. I worry about you agents a lot.”

“I worry about you detectives getting information out to the public and causing panics.”

Knox jumped up and started kicking rocks down a steep hill. Joseph Con has been listening to their bickering for almost an hour in a half. It was getting on his nerves a lot.

Suddenly, Joseph remembered something. He remembered that there was a road that was available only to a research center. It said no trespassing. Was this a road to lead to the place that this agent was looking for?

    “Um… Sir.” Joseph muttered.

Knox turned around; his ears opened to his words.

“Yes?” Knox said shaking his head.

“Uh, I saw a road, not too far from here that leaded to some kind of research center. It said no trespassing on the sign and—“

“You don’t say, well, can you take us up there?”

“Yeah, sure. I think I still have enough fuel in my bus for the ride.”

Drinnan decided to bud in. Maybe this might explain the disappearance of Lopez. Then, again, maybe that gigantic lizard could explain it. Mostly, Drinnan was just curious.

“I’m coming with you.” Drinnan said smiling at Knox.

Knox jumped at him saying, “Oh, no, you’re not.”

“I’m coming any way. I can and you can’t stop me. Rules don’t apply when your across border, buddy.”

Then, there was the most awful, scary, growling sound coming from the bottom of the steep hill. It was something from an animal never heard before. Something prehistoric!

    “What the hell?” Joseph exclaimed.

“I don’t know either, I think we better get going…Now!” Exclaimed Agent Knox.

They jogged up the hill to the bus. Drinnan took a look at his car.

“What about my vehicle?” Drinnan asked as if he would never see it again.

“We’ll be coming back. I need my car as well, you know,” added Knox.

Getting in the bus, they left behind the site of the dead carcass and the site of the scary growl, which was still to be determined.

    COMING TUESDAY -

    PART 3 - EXERPT:

The carnivore, he could tell by the long sharp teeth inside its mouth, roared with a terrifying grunt. It didn’t seem to notice the human under its foot who was barely alive at this point. Drinnan ran up to Knox.

“Go back. In the back, now!” Drinnan yelled.

The bus jolted backward towards a tree. Moments later it hit the tree, causing the two men to fall on the windows.

The carnivorous dinosaur threw its body against the bus making another unexpected jolt. Knox looked over to the roof, which was to the right side of him.
