    Slayer - Special Edition - 5x21 Spree
    By Ben

    Slayer 5x21 Spree

Ben Smythe, here. I’m doing the commentary for an un-aired episode of Slayer. Ultimately this episode got scrapped because of a plot twist and it was just lost. Seth Rex poured himself into this and it’s very well written. Anything you read in RED is what I'm saying!! Also, look for my closing thoughts in the comments!

Dreams. Perhaps they were dreams, and perhaps they weren’t.

    ~FLASH~

    ~Ben’s House- Night

Para walked through the house with a glass of orange juice in her left hand. She put it on the table that was next to the bed.

    ~END FLASH~

    River turned in his bed.

    River: No…turn around…

    ~FLASH~

Para started undressing to get ready for bed. She took off her shirt and rubbed her arms. She was slightly cold. She walked over to the window and saw that it was open. She closed the window.

    ~END FLASH~

River kept tossing and turning. He was getting nervous. The front portion of his hair was drenched with sweat.

Now, originally River was starting to have the Slayer Dreams, so he’s not sure what to think.

River: Get out of the room!

    ~FLASH~

Para walked back to the area in which she was undressing and took off her pants. All she had on was her underwear. She unfolded her hair and put the scrunchy on the table. She let her hair flow down to her shoulders. She felt her shoulders again.

    ~END FLASH~

River was almost ready to jump this time. He was nervous and anxious. He wanted to help but he couldn’t help. It was impossible to help.

    River: Para!

He rose from his bed. He was drenched in sweat now because of what he saw in his dream. He glanced around the room. They were in a huge hotel somewhere and it was near midnight. They had been hiding for a few days. Him, Dac, Marty, Joey, Shane, and Michelle had all gone together. It was Michelle that ran to him.

Now originally River, after Majestic’s Death became the Slayer and then rivaled Ben and Ben’s Scrappy Gang. So here we have River acting as Ben, Dac as Brad or Dan. Marty and Joey would be Ryan and Mandy, Shane would be Tara. Michelle would be Para and Falcon all in one. This was the first attempt at establishing a cast for a spin-off that would ultimately be Falcon.

    Michelle: What’s wrong?

She sounded worried. River had never had dreams like this.

River: I saw Para. It felt so real. I wanted to help her but I couldn’t. What if she’s in danger?

Michelle: I’m sure she’s fine. Go back to sleep. We’ll talk about it in the morning.

She kissed him on the forehead and went back to her sleeping bag. River felt tired, but he was afraid of what might happen if he did.

    Hotel-Day

River stood outside looking at the sky. It was a clear day. He knew it was supposed to be a calm day but he couldn’t shake the dream from his mind. It felt so real! Michelle walked out behind him, but stayed under the awning, avoiding sunlight.

Michelle: You feeling all right this fine morning?

    He turned to face her.

    River: I guess.

She smiled and waved him in.

Michelle: Well come on in, breakfast is ready.

They sat at the table and on the bed eating breakfast. Dac was wondering about this dream that River had last night.

Dac: So tell us about this dream.

River didn’t exactly want to talk about it, but felt he should explain it to his friends.

River: I saw Para’s death. Someone attacked her during the night while undressing for bed. I can’t explain it. It felt so real.

Marty was thinking about what River said. It was odd that River would have something like a premonition that Marty would not. Perhaps it was River’s way of visualizing a possible future. Maybe it was just a nightmare of what could happen. Either way, he seemed nervous himself.

Side note – Marty was supposed to develop ‘visions’ but I never really incorporated it.

~The Watchers Council Room- Mid Day.

Two men stood in the room alone. One was glancing out the window. He turned to look at the other man.

    Layne: He’s turning.

Dan: He’s been through so much.

Layne: What happens if he fully turns? He’s been powerful before, but he’ll become unstoppable.

    Dan: He’s the slayer.

Layne: We must stop him before it’s too late.

Dan: We must hope that he takes the right coarse.

Layne walked towards Dan. He looked at him with a serious face.

Layne: Its probably already too late. If the gang tries to face him he may well kill them. It is up to us to stop him.

Dan looked stern, yet worried about this decision.

Dan: If we have no other choice.

Layne: We may well have no choices.

Of course we’re talking about Ben…

    -Hotel- afternoon

River walked around the surrounding hotel area. He was still wondering what the dream could mean. He’d never had a dream like that before. What did it mean?

Marty: You had a dream. You saw a death. It could very well be just a dream. Why ponder it?

    River turned to Marty.

River: I have to know what is happening back home.

They glanced at each other. River grabbed a phone and dialed his house. The phone rang but it seemed nobody was home. He waited for a while. Soon the answering machine picked up and River hung up.

River: Either nobody’s home or there’s something wrong.

Marty: They’re probably not home. Ben’s probably out collecting his thoughts. He’s done this before.

    River: You’re probably right.

    Marty: Trust me.

    ~Charger City Graveyard-6:00 PM

Seth Rex walked through the graveyard with some caution. This was about the time that flooders and vampires woke up. It was a very misty night. With him was Falcon Glick.

Falcon: I don’t see anything just yet.

Seth: Keep an eye out. Someone here knows where Ben is…and may know where the others went. They’ve been trying to kill the slayer for a long time. You’d be knowledgeable of that.

Falcon: Well you didn’t have to put it that way.

They traveled the graveyard for some time. Seth Rex had to sit and take a rest. He’d been through a lot through these years of knowing the slayer. He had also been through torture with a flooder named Flooder31. But now they were separated forever and Flooder31 was gone. He now glanced around, noticed something moving, took out his binoculars to get a better look.

The flooder got out of his hole, noticed the misty graveyard, and took a deep breath of the night.

Flooder: God damn its good to breath the night air. Not that it matters much. Hehe, it’s time to suffer, little kiddies.

He flew off toward the play park. Seth Rex and Falcon followed after him. They wanted to make sure they got him.

I never really understood this scene. Falcon probably would have never helped Seth Rex, that’s just because that’s who Falcon is.

    ~The Hotel- 8:00 PM

Michelle yawned as she watched the TV. It was just another boring rerun. The New TNN seemed quite interesting right about now. Even a little HBO would be better than watching a rerun of Mash.

Michelle: (To River) Did you know the theme song to this show is called Suicide is painless? Bet it was better than watching the show.

Seth did manage to capture my sarcasm in writing. That has got to be like the best line.

River: How can you say that? You’ve been watching it for 3 hours straight.

    Michelle: Suicide is not painless…

She turned off the television and fell asleep on the couch. Dac was reading a book. He hadn’t been paying attention to the situation. Outside a light illuminated the room. River noticed this and stood up. He walked toward the door, opened it, and noticed a van parked in front of their room. Someone got out of the van. River immediately recognized him as Ryan.

    Ryan: Found you at last.

River: What are you doing here?

Ryan: Considering the thought of bringing you back to your turf. Seth Rex has Falcon helping him wipe out flooders while your gone. Apparently they’re looking for you too.

    River: I’m not surprised.

Ryan: (sounding concerned) We have to find your brother. Its obvious he’s in trouble.

    River: Ben can handle himself.

Ryan: Either way, it’s time to get going.

River thought for a second. It was time that they get back into their own turf. He walked into the hotel.

River: We’re going. Someone wake Michelle up.
They all got their bags; River paid the bill, got into the van, and was off toward their homes at last.

    ~Charger City Playground- 8:30 PM

Seth waited patiently for the flooder he knew would be here. He had some new weapons that he wanted to try out on these flooders. Falcon had his own weapons.

Falcon: I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

Seth: Don’t worry about it. He’ll be here. He was headed in this direction. He’s probably gathering a crew. Figures Ben will be here. But he’ll be surprised to see me here. There’s a problem.

Seth walked out toward the middle of the playground where children were using the swings and slides, and the teeter totters. He knew something was wrong. There seemed to be a stench in the area.

Flooder’s Voice: Well, well. What’s the sitch? I would never have guessed you’d be here. Come face to face eh?

Seth recognized that voice. He knew it anywhere…it was The Host. As if on queue, The Host walked out with a kid in his grasp. The other kids freaked and ran. The Host, using his power, morphed into Seth’s former nemesis, Flooder31.

    Seth: I hate surprises.

Flooder31: Yeah that’s the kicker isn’t it? I’m full of them. But now I have my own army. And I’m preparing a welcome back party for the slayer and his friends. Oh but I can’t have you in the way now can I?

Seth: Must just burn you up that I have to spoil the moment.

Flooder31: Now there was a complication but I figure I might as well finish the job myself. After all, can’t have people helping out the good guys.

Seth: Perhaps today’s your lucky day.

    Flooder31: Get him men!

Funny side note, Seth really is Flooder31, so he’s arguing with himself.

Flooders burst through the ground in front of Seth Rex. There must have been about 15 flooders. Seth was outmatched. He got his Steak-Daggers and readied them for battle. This was to be his biggest fight yet.

He quickly spun to the left and stabbed a flooder in the heart that had been ready to pounce. He readied for another attack as a flooder punched at him. He grabbed the flooder’s arm, twisted it, spun it around the flooder’s back, and slammed his dagger into the flooder’s arm, going through the back, hitting the heart. The flooder burst into flames as he kicked the flooder away. That left 13 flooders.

Falcon had been inserted into the fight now. He punched a flooder in the face, knocking the flooder back. Another flooder jumped on Falcon’s back and he swung it off, stepping on the flooder’s neck. He took out his own little whip and flicked it at a flooder, wrapped it around his neck, pulled so hard the head popped off of the neck.

Falcon: These things really irritate me.

    Seth: Tell me about it.

The Host noticed this loss of flooders and faded away. He hated to lose. This would have to continue some other day…some other time.

The flooders began running off. Seth knew they had sensed something. Flooders were strange like that.

Seth: Lets get going. Wherever these flooders are going must be important.

    Falcon: Right behind you.

They ran off to follow the flooders at a distance.

~The Grave Yard- Night Time- Two minutes later

The van pulled up to the graveyard. The side door opened and River got out. He looked around, noticed it unusually quiet, glanced at his friends.

    River: It’s never this quiet.

Ryan jumped out of the van.

    Ryan: Are you sure?

    River: Positive.

Dac got out of the van followed by Michelle and the others.

Dac: I don’t like this. I don’t like it at all.

River: There’s always a flooder or 2 bustling about the area. Lets face it they love a good girl.

This made River think for a second.
    River: Something’s brewing.

Marty was glaring into the sky. His eyes were glazed a bit. He felt something strange emanating from Ben’s house. He turned to the others.

Marty: We must go…to Ben’s house.

~Ben’s House- night- 10 minutes later

The van pulled up to Ben’s house and they got out. River glanced around. There was nothing suspicious about the area. It was as they left it. He glanced up to his own house. Now he felt something he didn’t feel before. A dread. He walked over to his front door. He checked the knob and it was open. He opened the door slowly. The others followed him.

River: I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

    ~FLASH~

Para turned and saw the intruder. She tried to attack but the intruder grabbed her arm and spun her around. He put both of her arms behind her back and slammed her into the wall. The intruder then threw her onto the bed.

    ~END FLASH~

River’s legs fell. He was reliving part of the dream he had earlier.

    ~FLASH~

She tried to get up but the intruder jumped on top of her. She tried to scream but the intruder covered her mouth. He took a knife and readied it for the kill. She glanced at it and her eyes went wide.

    ~END FLASH~

River glanced toward the stairs. He ran up them and into Ben’s room. There lay Para, the way he saw her in his dream. She almost looked as if she was screaming out in pain and fright.

    ~FLASH~

The intruder struck her in the chest and she winced in pain. The intruder stabbed her 2 more times and she felt the rush of blood and pain flowing through her. The intruder then slit her throat so she couldn’t scream, and she’d die faster. The intruder got up and placed her completely on the bed. Then he went to the window, opened it up, left through the window, and was gone.

    ~END FLASH~

River walked toward the open window.

This actually, depresses me that I cut this because that is an awesome effect.

    Marty: So it was real?

River turned to him. Marty was standing next to the door. He walked in.

River: Apparently. The murderer left through this window.

River walked toward Para. He softly closed her eyes with his right hand. He kneeled by the bed. He needed time to think about the past day’s events. Marty left.

~Charger City National Bank- Roof- Night~

Ben stood near the edge of the building. Wearing a trench coat, he was ready to do some work. He glanced toward his left and then right. He glanced at one building ahead of him. He took out a pair of binoculars. He knew who was there. It was The Host and Bob Kline. There were flooders all over the building. He’d have to pass through some of them to get to the 2 murderers. He took out a Speer gun and launched one hook at the roof of the building. He then latched one on his building. He took a wheelie device and rolled down to the one building’s roof. He landed with a thud and rolled a few inches. He stood up quickly and glanced around to see if anyone had seen him and had come to welcome him violently.

This is where the episode sort of turns around, like completely. Enter the Matrix.

    Ben: Stage one complete.

He walked to the door of the building. He opened it slowly and walked down the small set of stairs gently, making sure not to make any sounds. He glanced down the hallway. There was nobody there. He went into his trench coat and pulled out a gun. He had been at a gun shop recently to purchase guns for killing flooders. He knew this would happen. He heard a few flooders talking.

Flooder 1: I knew this Bob person was tough, but the way he blew away that one flooder for disobeying his orders. Wow.

Flooder 2: I knew that klutz would get his end soon.

Flooder 3: Did you hear about that new flood bike they’re making? What was that?

He had heard a noise. The 3 flooders walked over to where the noise had originated. There was nobody there. Flooder 3 glanced down to see a walnut. He slowly picked it up. Suddenly Ben dropped down. Flooder 3 raised his gun, but Ben kicked it away, spun around, aimed the gun, and blasted the flooder 3 times in the neck. The flooder vanished into smoke and ashes. The second flooder came at him.

Flooder 2 kicked at Ben, but Ben spun and shot the flooders, leg. The leg burst into flames but the flooder kept coming. Now flooder 2 came hopping and jumped at Ben. Ben just waited till he got close enough, grabbed flooder 2 and threw him down, put the gun to his forehead between his eyes, and let one rip.

Flooder 1 turned to run away and warn his boss. Ben placed the gun in its holster and grabbed his shotgun. He aimed carefully, and let a bullet fly. The bullet caught the flooder behind its head and the flooder faded away in ashes.

Ben touched his head and formed a bull’s eye.

    Ben: Bulls eye.

He holstered his shotgun and walked down the hallway.

    ~Charger City State Offices- Night~

Host glanced toward the TV monitors. He just witnessed the scene that took place out in the one hallway.

Host: What is going on? Find out who he is, and then kill him!

His 2 most trusted men saluted him and then walked off to go find the culprit. He turned to Bob Klein.

Host: If they don’t do it. I’m trusting that you will.

    Bob nodded his head.

    ~Ben’s House- night~

Ben’s house seemed quiet. Michelle sat on the couch looking at a blank TV. She was almost afraid to turn it on, thinking Mash would come back to haunt her. Dac was arm wrestling against Ryan.

Dac: Come on, is that all you’ve got?

    Dac was losing.

    Ryan: Your one to talk.

Ryan slammed Dac’s hand down to the table.

Marty suddenly appeared and tapped them all on the shoulder.

Marty: (Sounding worried) we have to go. We have to get to the state offices.

    Dac: Why?

    Marty: Ben’s there.

    Michelle: What about River?

    River appeared behind Marty.

    River: Let’s go.

    ~Grave Yard- Night~

Seth Rex and Falcon Glick walked into the graveyard. Seth glanced around to see if they were followed, or somehow they had gotten lost while looking for the flooders.

    Seth: We’re back here again.

Falcon: They must be here. This is where they went.

    Seth: But why?

Suddenly they were surrounded by what seemed like a few dozen Flooders.

Seth: This could be a problem.

    ~Charger City State Offices- Night~

Host walked toward the door. He turned toward Bob Klein.

Host: I’ll be at the graveyard. Keep a hold of things while I’m gone.

    Bob: Yes sir.

~Charger City State Offices- Hallway- Night~

Ben crept through another hallway peacefully. For a while he thought the flooders had left. Perhaps they got a call from Host to leave the place. It left the job easier on Ben nonetheless.

    Bodyguard: Stop right there!

Ben turned to face the Bodyguards.

    Ben: great, a welcoming party.

Bodyguard 1 got out his baton while Bodyguard 2 got out a sword.

    Ben: oh great.

Bodyguard 1 swung at him but Ben ducked. Bodyguard 2 sliced toward Ben’s gut but Ben did a smooth matrix back flip, which caused Bodyguard 2 to get his sword stuck on a wall. Ben kicked the flooder away and grabbed the sword. Bodyguard 2 grabbed another sword from his back and at least now they were evenly matched with weapons. Bodyguard 1 swung his baton at Ben, but Ben blocked with the sword. He twisted and let Bodyguard 1’s baton hit Bodyguard 2 in the chest. That didn’t do much though as both Bodyguard 1 and Bodyguard 2 aimed and launched their weapons at Ben’s head. Ben ducked and held his sword up, holding both attacks at bay as he spun and tripped both Bodyguards. Ben got up and readied for another attack.

Soon some of the flooder guards came up with guns. Ben took his crossbow and fired at all of them. He was ready now to kick some ass.

He spun toward the Bodyguards and fired his crossbow. Each one of them dodged the bolts.

Ben: What…the…hell…you guys are like agents now?

He quickly got into game. He sliced at Bodyguard 2, but Bodyguard 2 blocked with his own sword. Bodyguard 1 came around and swung at Ben’s head but Ben ducked and rolled as the baton struck Bodyguard 2 in the head. Bodyguard 2 quickly shook his head and readied for another attack. Ben sliced towards his chest but Bodyguard 2 made him quickly recoil as he did a quick swing toward Ben’s own chest. Ben took a run and jumped onto the wall, running on the wall, then flipped over Bodyguard 2 and landing behind him. Before Bodyguard 2 could react, he fired 3 shots from his crossbow and Bodyguard 2 fell to the ground. But before Ben could act Bodyguard 1 slammed his baton into Ben’s fist, causing him to react with pain, dropping the gun. Ben held his wrist.

So as you can see, we’ve got lots of action. This was actually when Ben was going to the dark side, so that’s why he was a little more edgy and more willing to kick ass than before.

Ben: Ok this game has gone on long enough.

Bodyguard 1: I know. Time to end it.

    Ben: Amen to that.

Ben quickly grabbed his sword tightly, sliced the letter x, then sliced upward as he spun around Bodyguard 1. The holsters of Bodyguard 1’s guns fell to the ground. He was stunned. It almost looked as if Bodyguard 1 was in nerve shattering pain. He turned to face Ben…but his face fell to the ground and 2 seconds later so did the rest of him.

Ben: Not so tough without your partner…are you?

He dropped the sword and picked up his gun. The pain in his wrist was gone and it seemed he could use it again. He walked off toward his destination once more.

~Outside the Charger City State Offices- Night~

The van pulled up to the offices and the team all got out. They glanced at the building, trying to see which level Ben could be in. It wasn’t an easy task, but River pinpointed the middle of the building, figuring it to be the 8th floor.

They entered the building one by one. Ryan walked up to the flooder security guard.

Ryan: Excuse me we need to get to the 8th floor.

Flooder: Sorry puny humans. Can’t let you g….

He never finished the sentence. River came up and stabbed him in the heart. He fluttered away, just a mere shadow of his former self as ashes broke up.

They walked up to an elevator and pressed the button.

    ~Graveyard- Night~

Seth Rex glanced around at all the flooders. Falcon did the same. Suddenly The Host appeared. He walked toward the 2 heroes.

    Meanwhile, with Abbot & Costello…

Host: Funny seeing you here, I imagined you’d go help your friends.

Seth: We are helping our friends.

Host: How? They’re not here. They’re somewhere else and you’re here with your big dumb friend…

Falcon: Watch whom your calling dumb pal.

    Host walked over to falcon.

Host: Oh that’s right. Falcon Glick. A vampire created by flooders. Now working with the enemy eh? What a pitiful thing you are.

    ~Charger City State Offices- Night~

The door smashed open and Ben walked in. The office was a meeting room. There was one long table in the middle and sitting on it was Bob Klein. Bob smiled towards him.

Ben: Why are you smiling? You’re going to get your ass kicked.

Bob: Don’t you get it yet Ben? We planned this. You coming here. We didn’t think you’d get this far but bravo, you made it. The bodyguards were a little difficult I assume?

    Ben slightly nodded his head.

Ben: A few upgrades, but nothing more.

Bob: I do apologize for Host not being here but alas he had some business in the graveyard. You’ll have to stick with me for now. Drop your weapons. All of them.

Ben had no choice. He knew what kind of fight this was. He dropped all his weapons onto the table.

Bob quickly spun and kicked Ben in the chin. Ben spun and hit the wall but was ready for another punch. He roundhouse kicked at Bob but Bob ducked and grabbed his leg. Bob spun Ben around into the wall. Ben fell to the ground but quickly flipped back into fighting stance. Bob punched at Ben but Ben blocked, sending in his own right hook.

Ben did a matrix dodge and spun to counter with an uppercut. This hit Ben straight in the jaw, and Ben flipped onto the table. No more playing fair, Ben thought. He grabbed two guns and stood up. He fired a few shots but Bob quickly dodged them. If Ben would use guns, then Bob would use guns as well. Bob grabbed his own guns and fired at Ben. Ben flipped off of the table, firing at Bob. Bob matrix dodged them and back flipped, sending shots at Ben. Ben used a metal chair to protect himself from the bullets. Bob unloaded his clips and reloaded. Ben did the same. They were ready again.

Bob sent bullets toward Ben’s head but Ben ducked backwards and fired shots at Bob’s legs. Bob jumped onto the table and fired at Ben’s thigh. Ben rolled under the table and fired through the table up at Ben’s legs once more. Nothing happened. Ben rolled from the table to see bob had flipped over to the other side of the table. Ben jumped onto the table. Bob kicked at Ben but Ben dodged and shot up at Bob but bob quickly spun around Ben. Ben elbowed bob, knocking him onto the table. Bob dropped his guns and spun around, grabbing one of them. Ben dropped one gun and formed a fist. Ben fired at bob but bob pushed the gun. Bob fired his gun but Ben pushed it aside. Ben punched bob in the chest but bob sidestepped it allowing Ben’s momentum to cause him to fall off the table. Bob was ready to fire another shot but a bullet hit him in the gun hand. Bob dropped his gun and held it. Ben stood up. One bullet left in his gun. Bob tried grabbing for his gun but Ben was once again on the table and kicked bob in the face. Bob fell off the table and onto the floor. Ben held his gun at Bob’s head.

Bob: Have mercy! I’m not the one you want.

Ben: Mercy? Mercy!? Did you give Para mercy when you killed her?

Bob: That wasn’t me, I swear it!

    Ben: Who was behind it?

    Bob: I don’t know!

Ben rammed the gun at Bob’s forehead, it was now touching skin.

    Ben: Who was behind it?

Bob: Even if I tell you who put us up to it, you’ll never be able to stop it from coming.

Ben pulled the trigger, but alas the bullets had run out.

    Bob started laughing.

Ben: You know, every Slayer is burdened with death as our gifts.

Bob looked at Ben very sympathetically.

Ben: I guess that means a Slayer is really a killer after all.

Ben’s eyes grew black…and his hair turned black…the affects of the spell he did the few minutes after Para died had finally hit.

Ben: You remember how powerful Tara was? Well guess what…I’m worse.

Ben grabbed Bob by the throat and raised him from the ground. He jolted him backwards while still holding him, very hard, and Bob’s neck snapped.

River, Shane, Marty, Joey, Michelle, Ryan, Tara and Mandy all watched as Bob’s lifeless body slipped from Ben’s grasp.

    River: Ben…stop…please!

River was pleading for his brother, but Ben turned and looked at him.

Ben: As Willow so aptly put it… “One down…”

Of course this is a reference to Veiny-Evil Willow from the Season 6 finale

Ben’s body engulfed into a vortex as Ben vanished from sight.

Michelle held her mouth as she gasped and River held her close.

Marty: We better head back to the Graveyard. If there’s one place he may be, it’s there.

River: No, he won’t go there. He’s looking for the Host.

Tara: That’s where The Host is. I can feel it.

River: Then we have to try.

    ~The Graveyard- Night~

The Host tied Seth Rex’s hands up. He left Falcon alone.

Host: There’s an old friend that wants to meet you Seth. I think you’ll like him.

Host had one of his flooders take Seth away. He turned to Falcon.

    Host: See ya.

    He vanished.

    Falcon: Well this sucks.

Falcon looked around and was shocked at the explosion of light that surrounded him.

    Falcon: Hello?

    Two figures walked towards Falcon.
