Slayer - 6x01 - Mayor

RED TEXT COMES UP
CHARGER CITY – THE DAY AFTER THE “FINAL BATTLE.”
DOWNTOWN – AFTERNOON
The wreckage of the battle between Ben Summers and Bob Kline remained, as clean up crews started to work on reorganizing everything. Buildings were smashed up, and there was the HUGE HOLE in which BOB fell into and THE MASTER arose.
CHANNEL 7 news reporter, brown haired female, quite pretty – she stood amongst the damage and gave a live feed.
Reporter: Not many eye witnesses were around to even say what was seen here. From the few that were around we’ve learned that our Mayor, Robert Kline fell into the large gaping hole behind me and a huge half dragon half human rose from the rubble and started fighting with a man with a very shiny weapon…
CUT from reporter to the DRUNK OLD MAN that she interviewed.
Man: I was just walking around the dumpsters, to check for you know, what I could, and all of a sudden this thing – it came out of nowhere and there were a lot of people. I think they were fighting…well, it’s going to sound crazy, but I think they were fighting demons and vampires and…probably bad people. That’s why the mayor’s gone, right?
CUT BACK to REPORTER
Reporter: Police have no leads, and are actually calling the loss of this town’s mayor an act of God. This is Gale Bridges, reporting in Charger City for Action 7 news. Back to you, Harvey.
BEN SUMMERS’ LIVING ROOM
The TV faded to the news room with a guy named HARVEY on the screen, talking a little more about what could’ve happened. The camera pans out to see BEN sleeping with his legs stretched across the coffee table with his feet pointing up. BECKY and RIVER were the same on his left and right sides – TARA and MANDY laid on the ground of the living room floor, holding hands. MICHELLE hunched over RIVER.
The camera focused back onto BEN, and then to the TV – where HARVEY suddenly released a grotesque scream. BOB stood there with a bloody hook, and blood dripping off of his face.
Bob: I have one question for you, Summers…
BOB leapt through the TV and into BEN’S LIVING ROOM.
Bob: Do you think it’s over?
BOB rammed his hook through BEN – blood gushed from BEN as he still remained asleep.
Bob: What?
‘BEN’ walked up from behind BOB and fired a CROSSBOW BOLT at him from POINT BLANK RANGE – BOB fell to the ground.
Ben: Yes I do…
BEN looked at the bloodied BEN-BOT, which started to toss back and forth –
THE CAMERA pans back and suddenly BEN is in his bed, tossing back and forth.
BEN awoke and jolted up real quick.
Ben: Wow. That was a great dream!
BEN slammed his head back down into his pillow.
BLACK OUT TO OPENING CREDITS
The scene is of CHARGER CITY at night, all the buildings with the lights on, looking very much like LA.
“SLAYER” appears in red text on a doorway that is smashed open by BEN SUMMERS – the text disappears.
BEN throws a VAMPIRE out a window, chasing after him. BEN rams a wooden stake into a VAMPIRES CHEST, the vampire turns to DUST. [Starring Ben Smythe as Ben Summers]
BECKY flies to the top of a building and looks down in horror.
BECKY and BEN fight with swords. BECKY throws a few punches at a HUGE DEMON. [Beck-why as Becky Summers] BEN and BECKY walk through a graveyard holding hands.
RIVER and MICHELLE kiss
RIVER flips his sword and flings it in the air. The SWORD spins around and slices a VAMPS head off, dusting him. RIVER runs up a wall and FLIPS behind a vampire. He rams a stake through his heart. [[Jedi A. Malcolm]
TARA looks through her books of spells. TARA kisses MANDY on the lips. [JP3 Girl] TARA’S body splits in too DARK MAGIC and LIGHT MAGIC. Tara fires an electric blue beam at a DEMON.
MICHELLE dives for a SWORD in the middle of a battle. MICHELLE and RIVER patrol a graveyard, holding hands [Yvonne] MICHELLE looks teary-eyed at FALCON.
FIRE FORMED in her eyes and channeled all the way down to her hands, forming two balls of fire. THE BALLS expanded. MANDY released the balls at BEN’S VAMPS setting them ablaze. The VAMPS turned to DUST. [Mandee] MANDY and TARA hug.
BRAD blows a dust which begins to GLISTEN in mid air. BRAD stands on a stage holding a microphone. BRAD, BEN and PARA run down a hallway [And Brad as Bradley Giles] BRAD and DAC engage in a sword fight.
DOWNTOWN – THE MAYORS OFFICE
[Guest Starring SeanArcher as Holden Kline]
The Interim-Mayor sat behind the MAYOR’S DESK, looking at BEN and BECKY SUMMERS.
Ben: Mr. Gary
Mr. Gary: Rob, please call me Rob.
Ben: I’m surprised I missed the campaign of Bob & Rob.
Rob: Yeah, I liked it, but Bob was more set on bring a lot of past issues up.
Ben: Yes, I got that feeling about him.
Rob: No one has heard of him or seen him since, well since the night this city was almost destroyed.
Becky: Yeah, I was shopping downtown, and it was just like…
Rob: You weren’t. I know what you were doing. You saved the world, and Charger City.
Ben: Just doing my civic duties.
Rob: Well, I’m glad I could convince you and your friends to stay, at least for a little while…
Ben: It’s no problem.
Rob: I need a running mate…would you be interested?
BEN looked shocked.
[GrantsHat as Rob Gary]
Ben: Well, um that kind of came out of no where. I’ll have to get back to you on that.
BEN’S HOUSE
RIVER opened the front door to the HOUSE to see BEN and BECKY sitting in the living room talking to each other.
River: Hey! I have a really, really huge important question to ask.
Becky: What?
River: Can I go with Joey and Shane to Seattle University?
Ben: Is that where you want to go?
River: Yeah.
Ben: Is there a reason it’s Seattle?
River: No, it’s not what you’re thinking either.
Ben: Good, I just got back from there and I’ve already told Falcon that if he caught you there, well, that I’d be there in a heartbeat and I would take you out so fast.
RIVER swallowed hard.
[Guest Starring Aragorn as Shane]

[PunkNerd as Joey Russo]
Ben: By the way, I might be running for Mayor.
River: Well, you’re evil enough for it.
Ben: Hey!
River: It’s not my problem. You’re the one thinking I’m going to cause problems.
RIVER ran to the backyard and pulled his cell phone from his bag.
[Paragirl as Para Harris]
He dialed a number, and waited.
River: He fell for it. Pick me up here at 6.
RIVER flipped his phone closed and took a deep breath. He looked back at the house, then down – as if he knew what he was about to do was going to get him into trouble.
TARA’S APARTMENT
[Icebreaker as Ice]
[And The Host as Matt McGuire]
TARA sat on her couch, reading through a few magic books. MANDY walked into the room and hovered above her.
Mandy: Whatcha doin’?
Tara: Just started to go through some of these books, incase, you know, we ever need quick reference.
Mandy: Why would we ever need quick reference?
Tara: I don’t know…you just never know, I guess.

MANDY looked at her, full of doubt.
Mandy: What’s wrong?
Tara: Nothing.
Mandy: No, that’s something-face. You’re not telling me something.
Tara: Well, it’s just with the big bad out of Charger City, and Dansville is kinda home and being rebuilt, I want to go back there.
TARA turned around, looking at MANDY.
Mandy: So you’re saying you want to leave?
Tara: But I’d feel like I’m abandoning Ben and all we’ve ever done.
Mandy: I think he’ll understand. I don’t know him like you do, but I have gotten to know him over the past three years and I’m sure he’d be okay with it. In fact, I’d say he’d encourage it.
TARA got up and hugged MANDY.
Tara: You don’t think I’m being mutinous?
Mandy: Of course not. Your life isn’t shaped around him.
Tara: But he’s my best friend.
Mandy: So was Ice.
Tara: But Ice is still here – he’s worked through his demon problems and uses that power for good now.
Mandy: That’s my point. He stays now – so why should you feel guilty leaving?
Tara: I don’t know – I just do. Mandy, I hate this.
MANDY caressed TARA’S head and ran her fingers through her hair.
MANDY kissed TARA lightly on the forehead.
Tara: You won’t leave me?
Mandy: I will never leave you…and I will always find you.
TARA smiled.
THE MAGIC BOX – LATE AFTERNOON
BRADLEY GILES stood behind the counter, talking to a GOTHIC PRINCESS.
Goth Girl: Yeah…I just need something that will get rid of him, and painfully.
Brad: You sound like you want vengeance.
Goth Girl: I guess so. I want to be done with him.
Brad: Well, I suggest with whatever you do – just be careful.
Goth Girl: Right. Okay. Careful, yeah, I can be careful.
Brad: And if you’re going to kill him, please don’t link back to me or this shop.
Goth Girl: Right. Thanks.
The GOTHIC PRINCESS walked out of the store, closing the door. BRAD looked over at BEN, TARA, MANDY, BECKY and ICE as they were sitting at the round table.
Ben: Wow. Maybe you should’ve given her Anya’s extension.
Brad: Perhaps.
Ben: The sad thing is, I might have to fight her somewhere down the line.
Brad: This is true.
Becky: Well, she’s as good as dead.
ICE looked around at the table.
Ice: I just realized something.
Ben: What’s that?
Ice: That we’re together. Again, like all of us.
Mandy: All for one and one for all.
TARA cringed.
Ben: Is this what we’re going to do with the rest of our lives?
Brad: Well, I think as your Watcher I stay until you die.
Ben: We all know how well my deaths never work out.
The gang released a small laugh.
Tara: I can’t do this.
TARA got up and started to leave, but MANDY pulled on her arm. TARA broke free.
TARA walked out of the MAGIC BOX.
Ben: What’s wrong with Tara?
Mandy: She’s, well, she’s upset.
Ben: About what?
Mandy: I’ll let her tell you.
BEN got up and followed after TARA.
DOWNTOWN CHARGER CITY – SIDEWALK, TARA was pacing herself as she walked, just collecting her thoughts.
BEN ran up next to her.
Ben: Hey…what was that about?
Tara: I can’t. You’ll hate me.
Ben: If it’s something about you and Mandy, it’s okay, we all know about it.
Tara: You do?
Ben: Yeah, but if it’s like a dirty little secret, you know you can trust me.
Tara: No. It’s not that. Ben…I can’t stay here.
Ben: Okay?
Tara: Well, I mean, it’s just…I want to go back to Dansville. Not forever, I just want to go back home.
Ben: You weren’t ever too keen on coming up here.
Tara: This is true. Wait. You understand what I’m saying?
Ben: Of course I do. Tara, I don’t expect you to stay here with me. There is so much of the world out there, and we only…well, I fractured the saying, but we only live once.
TARA smiled.
BEN grabbed TARA’S ARMS gently.
Ben: You go. Go out there with Mandy and just be happy and content with life.
Tara: You won’t hate me?
Ben: Only if you keep the Falcon law.
Tara: What’s that?
Ben: When I call you for help…you better come running.
TARA leaned into BEN and hugged him. BEN wrapped his arms around TARA.
Ben: There is actually something I need to talk to you and the gang about.
Tara: What is it?
Ben: We’ll talk about it when we get back into the shop.
Tara: Sounds like a plan.
GABLE MANOR –
The very large and familiar house sat at the top of CHARGER CITY, known to most as the haunted house – was actually once the home of the wealthy and respectable. Mayor Bob Kline mad it his residence…as did his nephew.
HOLDEN KLINE STOOD looking off of the BALCONY. THREE VAMPIRE BODY GUARDS came in behind him.
Holden: Soon. They will all fear me. As soon as we find this demon, I will reign supreme.
HOLDEN walked back into the MANSION.
Vampire: Sir, what about Rob?
Holden: No one destroys the lineage of the Kline family. I will destroy him and reclaim Charger City for my own.
Vampire: Sir?
Holden: Just find that demon…the Dark Days my uncle promised will return.
THE MAGIC BOX
BEN and TARA walked back in. TARA sat down and BEN looked at the table.
Ben: Well, I’m going to go first…and what Tara told me is understandable. We were all going our separate ways a few weeks ago, but that changed when Rob, the interim mayor talked to me and asked us to stay.
THE table leaned in closer, interested.
Ben: Today, Rob Gary talked to me. He asked me if I wanted to be his running mate, as he’s running for mayor and he needs an interim-mayor to run with him. I don’t know why he asked me, but he specifically called me and Becky in to his, well, Bob’s old office and talked to us. He’s pretty serious.
MANDY perked up.
Mandy: Is this something you want to do, Ben?
Ben: That’s what I’m wondering. Part of me thinks, wow, I could have total control over the demons this way, using Bob’s resources and what not, but the other part of me tells me that something bad will happen.
TARA looked at BEN.
Tara: It’s all in choices. Some of us aren’t sure how they’ll work out till we do them.
Ben: And with support, I can know I’m making a good choice.
Brad: Won’t you need a Chief Counsel? Or something?
Ben: I will always need you.
Ice: And you’ll need your demon connections.
Becky: And your contacts to the PTB.
Tara: The what?
Becky: The Powers That Be.
Tara: Oh, yeah.
Ben: I could always use a witch or two.
Tara: And you’ll have those two witches…under Falcon Law.
BEN smiled.
MAGIC BOX – back room
MICHELLE flew open the hatch to the sewer tunnel. She crawled up into the training area.
Michelle: Ben!
MICHELLE ran out of the training area.
Ben: Michelle? What’s wrong?
Michelle: It’s River…he’s left, and he didn’t make out with me before he left.
Ben: Well…I’ll make sure I scold him for the lack of making out.
Michelle: It’s not just that…it’s Joey and Shane too…they’re missing.
Ben: No one could’ve kidnapped them.
Michelle: I know that…they left.
BECKY focused –
Becky: They’re in Washington.
BEN looked at BECKY.
Ben: What?! He said he was going to…do something…oh my goodness. That little son of a…when I get my hands on him I’m going to beat him worse than….I don’t even know what.
ICE touched BEN’S SHOULDER.
Ice: Chill out man.
Ben: Now is not a good time for puns.
Ice: I mean, you need to relax.
Ben: How can I?
Ice: Because I’m sure they went to go see Marty. Marty is their friend.
BEN looked at BECKY.
Ben: I’m going. Tara, Mandy, good luck with Dansville. I’ll call you guys soon –
Tara: Ben, relax, you need to get through this calmly.
TARA hugged BEN.
Tara: I love you. You take care of yourself…remember, Falcon Law.
Mandy: Good journey, Ben.
Ben: You remembered.
BEN gave MANDY a hug.
TARA and MANDY walked out of the MAGIC BOX.
OUTSIDE of the MAGIC BOX
Tara: Can we swing by the Graveyard before we go home? Just do one last patrol?
Mandy: Sure.
CHARGER CITY GRAVEYARD
HOLDEN’S VAMPIRES continued pummeling the DEMON. HOLDEN walked over to the DEMON.
Holden: Hold him.
HOLDEN rammed his FINGERS into the DEMON’S SKULL. The energy that the DEMON was carrying transferred over to HOLDEN. The DEMON fell backwards, dead.
MANDY and TARA saw the fight from a distance.
Tara: Hey! What are you doing?
Holden: Let’s get out of here guys.
Vampire: Sir, we haven’t eaten yet today….
Holden: Okay, go for it.
The THREE VAMPIRES charged at MANDY and TARA. TARA and MANDY grabbed each others hands and a wave of wind knocked the VAMPIRES down.
One of the VAMPIRES was quick to his feet.
Tara: Diswova.
A fireball flew from TARA’S hands, turning the VAMPIRE to dust.
MANDY pulled out two stakes from her bag. She levitated them in front of her and sent them out at the VAMPIRES staking them both in the heart. The VAMPIRES turned to dust.
Holden: Well…I must say I didn’t see that coming.
Tara: Hey…you’re that kid that tried to beat up River.
Holden: Oh, you know River Summers?
Tara: Yeah…
Holden: Well then, you both can help me out.
HOLDEN disappeared before their eyes and appeared between them in a flash.
HOLDEN used his new power – he laid his palms on TARA and MANDY’S heads, sending them both down to the ground weak. He was feeding off of their memories.
HOLDEN pulled off, TARA and MANDY fell over, totally drained.
Holden: Oh…I’m gonna have to carry both of you back…oh wait…
HOLDEN’S EYES and HAIR turned JET BLACK.
Holden: Wow…I picked two witches…this is a great start to an army.
HOLDEN levitated both of their bodies to follow him.
BEN’S HOUSE – BEN’S ROOM
BEN grabbed his COAT.
Becky: What do you think you’re going to do? I mean, driving will take a long time and if you speed, you risk getting pulled over.
PARA appeared in their bedroom.
BEN and BECKY both jumped back startled.
Ben: You’re worse than the Great Gazoo.
Para: Sorry. You need to get to Seattle fast, right?
Ben: Yes.
Para: Well then, come with me.
Becky: Yes…go with your ex girlfriend…that’s a great idea.
Para: Becky, I know we never really got to talk, but you should know I wasted a lot of time to him carry on about you, so just hush.
BECKY looked at PARA, still pissed.
Ben: Honey, you’re going to have to stay here. I have business that I have to take care of.
Becky: I understand.
BEN and BECKY kissed, then BEN grabbed PARA’S ARM and was pulled through a portal.
SEATTLE WASHINGTON – FALCON’S OFFICE
PARA and BEN landed in the lobby.
DAC flew through the wall landing right before BEN. THE HOST followed after him.
Matt (as Bob): You will never be able to stop me…
MATT looked up at the two figures next to DAC’S BODY.
Matt (as Bob): Well, well, well…my favoritest little Slayer.
MATT charged at BEN.
